I read a couple of years ago that a membership facility was available at the Montien in order for none guests to use their gym, pool and leasure facilities. If this is still the case then how much would this cost on a month by month basis and is the facility really worth it. On the other hand is it just possible to walk in and blag the facilities for free. Regards Griffo

On my last visit earlier this year a friend on the beach told me he had visited a hotel resort which was stuated just past Nong Nooch on the right. He even had the brochure. It looked beautifull and I would like to visit the place for a few days. I think it might have been called Sun Sand and Sea Resort but I could be wrong. Have any boardies got more info on this place. My recommendation is to visit Kanchanaburi early in your trip as it is in the opposit direction to Pattaya. Stay in BKK first night and then catch the local bus or train the next day. should take about 2.5 hours. Stay at one of the lovely boat house type hotels right on the river. The one I recommend is Sams River raft guest house. cost about 300Baht per night with ac. very basic but gives a good feel for the place as it is floating on the river and anly about 1 mile from the bridge and half a mile from the Imperial War Cemetry. No need to book, just take taxi from bus or train station. If i

Do you mean that you have no choice at all with your destination or are you saying that you can nominate your destination but probably will have to wait 24 hours or more. Arthur, how about trying The Jomtien Fishing Park I think on Soi 6 Jomtien. Huge freshwater fish in there. Catfish running at about 30lbs. Its cheap, its fun, plenty of beer and food and you are almost guaranteed to catch a huge fish. All the tackle can be hired and bait purchased. Total cost for a days fishing.. about Baht600.
