  1. Yes !! I can't stand drunks. They should ban alcohol in Thailand, it's a Buddist country.
  2. Royal Twins is right across 2nd Rd from the Marriott. Walk out from the Marriott to 2nd road look up and there it is. Big tower behind a bunch of resturants. I like that location too with the RG, banks, Walking Street, Misty's and such all right there. The RG is great for quick shopping but I don't like what the did with the 3rd floor food court. I liked it better 2 years ago with a lot of variety. The food at the Royal Twins is the worst I've ever seen. I doubt even a Brit would like it All other service is top notch though. I'll do a full review later but I'm in a suite u
  3. The pool is great but not as good as the Marriott's.
  4. The Marriott is directly across 2nd Rd from the Marriott so if I want to I can stop in at the Marriott but I don't think the food is a really any better there. The breakfast buffet IS great but 4 times as expensive as anything else. I'm a long time Marriot fan, Gold Memeber, but in Pattaya you can find something 90 per as good for 1/2 the price or less. I've stayed at the Marriott her twice and the RG once and barely notice the difference. Actually, the RG has a nice little kitchenette and is a suite so that pretty much balance out the more luxiourious furnishings, pool and gardens at the Ma
  5. I don't remember his name. I got to him quickly last yr when I asked for him. Might not be any deals now, Take a look at my 'Emergeny Hotel' post on the members area.
  6. You get the best deals if you call the hotel directly and talk to the manager. He will give you a discount for 15 or more days.
  7. You ask questions too mutt. Search the reviews and the net. Ok, I stumbled across my bill from last year at the Marriott at this time. 3,250 B a day plus vat etc for a garden room.
  8. "Do you mean the location of the room by any chance? Otherwise, if you follow the previous poster's advice and use the other two entrances and do not pass the front desk you should be okay." There are different quality rooms. I think I paid around 3000B for a 'Garden Room'. Delux Sea View rooms are a lot more expensive. They don't just have a balcony they have a porch bigger than a garden room overlooking the sea. One night of about 25 I had to have a girl sign in. That was when I was staying in a Delux Seaview room and had to take the elevaztor up. There was a guard at the elevator
  9. I was never asked for a joiner fee. I booked for 2 people. I can't find my bill from last year but a lot depends on the room.
  10. I bought mine on Delta (Delta to Atlanta and ATL to Souel and BKK on Korean) two months ago but I have the tickets in my hands. I've always like Korean. Very pretty Stewardi. More likely your agant screwed up. I've flown the Delta/Korean to BKK trip twice in the past on free tickets from my frequent flyer miles and never had a problem. Seems like if they were regularly screwing somebody it would be us freebee flyers.
  11. I stayed there last November and two years before that. Booked a double and no joiner fee but some of the girls at the desk don't like mongers. They walk you to your room and ask if you're there on business...and then the smile disappears. Minor inconvenience though. Unless you go by the elevator on the south side you don't even have to have the girl leave an id. Try to skip the breakfasts there though or negotiate them out of the room price. It's really good but at western rates ($12 - 15 US). Shennanigans is right next door and you can get a great breakfast there.
  12. Your milage costs are right. I'm a Delta SkyMiles member and I just checked the program. 35K miles to Central America and 50K miles to southern South America from the US. That makes a trip to Costa Rica lot more likely for me.
  13. My concern is that Mr. Bush will have me incinerated at the airport entering the US if I display so much as a sniffle.
  14. RG isn't far. We're talking a couple of hunders yards to a side enterence to Walking Street. You'll be amazed at how close it is and how quiet it is and there are constant baht busses. I was concerned with that when I booked it but it turned out to be really convenient. I walked as often as I took a B-Bus. I never say a 'no visitirs' sign in the room and can't imagine it happening there. The suites are nice.
  15. Someone told me that because of it's proximity to Boys Town it has a big gay clientel. Up to you, how you feel about that.
  16. I just used a room at the Penthouse for my last day. I'm always felxible and don't book my last day in Pattaya in case I decide to do a day in BKK. That was a problem. I couldn't extend at my hotel because it was booked for Loy Ka-whatever and so was the Nana in BKK so I grabbed a room at Penthouse to crash and shortime for the day. It brought new meaning to the word filthy and the ambiance is definitely Old Whorehouse. I really didn't like the 2 guys perched like monkeys on my balcony either. I popped out of the shower and there they were, supposedly working. I closed the drapes but the l
  17. I ended up ooking directly thru the otel for $92 a night, they drop the rate if you're there for 15 days or more. The listing on the site above is for $126 a night in November. Mine doesn't include breakfast and they said that's 500B per person. I won't be likely to be up for breakfast either.
  18. I haven't seen anything nearly as good in the area $99 is a heck of a price for a resort like it but the price spread between that an a decent hotel in Pattaya is too wide. I really found having the RG with it's food, banks, atm machines, gym and intenet cafe and exits to 2nd rd and beach road from the hotel really comfortable because I'm in and out of the room constantly: soapies, trips to the gym, It's just not worth an extra $65 a days. I don't worry about a budget on vacation but the price is just to far out of line for the differences. At $85 I'd stay at the Marriott. The pool
  19. The $90 a a night rate was from http://reservations.hotelselloffs.comnight and yep when I went further into the booking form they added on extra service charges. When I looked at Marriott.com they were offering $90 as a corporate discount. The Royal Garden Gym is the one you get a pass to from the Marriott. Ib, please stop reading now. The Marriott grounds and pool are incredible, the service is great and the loacation attached to the Royal Garden is convenient but not worth paying $70 a night more than the Residence Garden. I like the RG but I was spoiled by a lot of bus
  20. I'm trying to wrangle a room for 12 nights at the Marriott but I'm seeing $114 a night as the best rate. It looks like PRICELINE isn't covering Pattaya anymor and I've tried orbitz, expedia and a direct call to the hote (to a Thai who wouldn't negotiate !). Has anyone found a good internet booking site for Pattaya or managed to get a deal at the Marriott. I'm trying for $90 a night and they can keep their fancy breakfast but the pool, gym and location are fantastic. How about a travel agent ? I did find one web site that dropped it to $99 but I'd never heard of them.
  21. You pretty much fall out of bed from the Residence gardens onto a side enterence to Walking Street near the Super Ago-Ago but yo have the advantage of a great view and a quiet setting at the RG. I'd saw it's well under a mile and you don't walk thru anything scarry to get there. Baht buses are going too and from there constantly but most times from Walking street I just walked it. I'll be there again unless I can get an incredible deal at the Marriott.
  22. Ok, here's the time. I just walked from the RG to Misty's and it took 15 minutes. That wasn't walking fast. FLB bar would probably be about the same or less. Sylvesterparty ? Does that involve a cat ?
