  1. Agreed on Vick. No one has said he's going to the Hall of Fame yet, but that performance vs Washington was legendary. Same for Rivers, but he's having a great year so far. Of course I'd take Peyton and Brady over him with the game on the line, but IMHO Rivers has been the best QB in the NFL this season. I won't be surprised if the Chargers get into the play-offs . . . and then perform their annual choke job in the first round. Afterall, Norv Turner is still driving the bus.

  3. What are you smoking Joe? Rivers has been awesome. The Chargers have had a revolving door at wide reciever all season, the offensive line has let him get sacked 22 times (3rd most in the NFL), the running game has been mediocre (18th in the league), yet Rivers still has more passing yards than any other QB in the NFL and is currently tied for the lead with 19 TDs. Yeah Antonio Gates is a stud at tight end, even when he's injured, and has 40 receptions and 9 TDs, but just look at who has been lining up at the wide-out spots: The Chargers number one guy has been Malcom Floyd, currently ranked as the 31st best wide reciever, below the likes of Brian Hartline and Mike Thomas. Then there's former Cowboy Patrick Crayton who has 25 catches. Could these guys start on any other team in the league? After that it's guys named Buster, Legedu, and Seyi. Darren Sproles, coming out of the backfield, has more catches than any of the Chargers wide recievers. Even with this group of no-names running routes for him, Rivers has still managed 215 completions - 4th most in the league. It doesn't matter who the Chargers throw out there at wide reciever, Rivers is getting the ball to them. He IS having a better year than Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, and he's had less talent to work with.

  7. It's a great story. He did his time for his crime and deserves to enjoy this fresh start. I'm definitely rooting for him. Along with Philip Rivers and Peyton Manning he's among the best QBs in the league this year.

  17. The "US baseball championship series" kicked off last night in San Francisco. The expected pitcher's duel between Cliff Lee and Tim Lincecum turned into an 11-7 victory for the hometown team. Giants batters jumped all over the normally dominating Lee in the 5th inning. Not sure how this series is going to go but one thing's for sure, AT&T Park and the city of San Francisco are certainly a picturesque setting. Please share your "positive" thoughts and comments on the series here.
  18. If you don't like crowds avoid December and January. Forget April, too. You should get to know the city before you experience Songkran. Any other month is fine. November is probably the best month to come. Weather is great, it's not too crowded, and Loy Kratong is one of the best Thai holidays.

  20. I don't know if they had to sell off the space to the tailor. I don't even know if they owned that space at one time, and I don't care. All I know is there's a tailor shop next to the hotel entrance. The only reason that would be relevant to anyone is if they wanted to buy some clothes, or they so dispised Indian tailors that they refused to stay in a hotel with a tailor next door. So what if the owner goes back home to work? The only effect that has on me is if I want to talk to him personally about something. What do either of these issues have to do with the quality of the hotel? They're still open, so they obviously haven't failed.
  21. . . . and the BCS has decided to curse Auburn this week, making them the new #1 team. Will #1 fall for the 4th week in a row? Meanwhile my Tigers are #6, a nice spot to be in near the end of October.

  24. Seaside looks really nice. May have to look into that one. When I say it's less expensive I just mean you can get a decent room (IMHO) there for around 500 baht, which is about the least you'll pay for a decent room in Pattaya. Are there better places to stay in that price range? I think so. I personally prefer to stay at Rolling Stone Bar on Soi 7. The rooms are a little newer than Sky Top and it's 500 baht per night, plus I like the location a little better. I also like some places in the LK Metro and Soi Bukao area. I just don't think Sky Top is as bad as most people on this board say. It's not the best place I've stayed, but it's far from the worst. Emil, I agree about the bathroom noise and smell, but if you're staying alone it's not really an issue. The thing about turning on the room light to go to the bathroom would be silly. I'll check that out when I stay there again.
