  1. Great photos Tom. Looks like another place for my list of places to visit next time.
  2. This is the first time I had ever been through Singapore Changi airport, and I have to say that I was very impressed with the place. I really like the fact that they offer a FREE cinema there, which I presume is a multi-screen, and how open and clean the place is. My only gripe is that when I landed I had to clear security and get xrayed, then take the train to the other terminal, just to find out that before I reach my gate, I have to do the whole X-ray thing all over again!! Enjoy the photos.
  3. It's time for that depressing sight that we all have to endure after our couple of weeks of fun in the sun............
  4. Just a few photos i took of Walking street last month. There doesnt seem to be too many people around, even though these shots were taken around 10pm.
  5. The Italian job. ( the remake)
  6. Nice photos. It's a great place, isn't it. I loved it in the early morning whilst the ground/low lying mist was just hovering over the ground.
  7. Surprisingly very peaceful and quiet around this part of the bay. Think this is somewhere i will return to again for peace and quiet.
  8. I wouldn't be bothered if mates from the UK asked to come along with me. The more the merrier. I just mean being alone and away from TGs. All their constant moans, nagging and complaining would really spoil what I consider a really good day out.
  9. A sight less seen by i would guess most members on here, with the possible exception of Larry : and maybe Ben.
  10. After spending a few hours on the beach, i headed back to Pattaya.( mainly because i was starting to feel as sick as a parrot at the time). Seemed to be a hell of a lot of cockle shell gatherers in the water's edge looking for the little cockles. Must be a new booming industry there.....
  11. Yep, he is the guy you normally see down beach road, 100 baht for a photo.
  12. That ladyboy Imm certainly has her head screwed on correctly. Not just been in the management hierachy of Alaczar, also owning 3 x 7-11 stores and houses and apartments that she also rents out. Plus teaching a business economics class at the local Uni. Bravo to her.
  13. Made Wongamat beach, but only stayed for about 2 hours. The sun was beating down, and i wasnt felling overly well, so decided to make a move back towards Soi 6 before my stomach decided to part with its contents. I found this beach to be quiet, and overall quite a nice place. I intend to spend more time here on my next visit, hopefully soon.................
  14. Well, after being in Thailand for almost 2 weeks, i finally made it to Pattaya. Ended up doing a lot of walking whilst here, which i dont really mind, as i quite enjoy walking. Its a good time to clear my head and mind and enjoy myself. Anyway, spent the day doing the walk around the coast to Wongamat beach, and then back again. These photos are the results. Enjoy the walk................
  15. Well, time for the good news. This is the last of the Kanchanaburi threads. Now for the bad news. The next threads up will all be from Pattaya.!!!! After walking all the way around the town, i finally made it to the the bridge over the river kwai. It is quite an amazing site to see. Not quite the same as the movie, but still inpressive all the same. Enjoy...............
  16. Started my day out walking from my hotel(River Kwai Hotel), all the way down to the JEATH muesuem in the south of town, had a little look around, and then followed the road that hugs the river all the way up to the north of the town and finally reaching the Bridge. Hell of a walk in 41oC heat, a walk not to be repeated again i think. Finally walked back to the hotel via the bars on the corner of this road, and ended up returning back to my room at around 5pm. Enjoy the walk with me....................
  17. A sombre sight, to see so many grave stones from those that gave their lives, mainly because of japanese cruelty during WW2.
  18. Well, when i finally made it to Namtok, it was time to come back again, as i was Fooked from the heat and the Sun, i just wanted to go back to the hotel. So bought my ticket at the station for 100 baht.(looking at the ticket, the cost from Namtok at one end of the line to Thonburi in Bangkok, at the other end, is only 100 baht. Thats a good price for train travel i think). The train that i actually took back down the vallry, was the same one that got stuck at the bamboo that i came up on. Enjoy the photos................. :
  19. When i say I, i am talking just about me, and no one else. All the threads i have made over the past couple of days i have been travelling by myself, and to be honest, ive really loved it. Not having to wait for someone else, or argue with them, or any thing. Its been great just doing what i want, when i want. The Thai bit, my thai is not that good, actually its shit, but ive not had any real problems with the lack of thai or lack of english.
  20. Strangely yes, i was starving by the time i arrived. It was then that any food will do.
  21. The original plan was to take the train from Kanchanaburi to Namtok, then to take the bus to Hellfire Pass. Well, that was the plan.During the journey we came to an abrupt stop on the tracks. It seems that a very large clump of bamboo had fallen down across the track, soo the train couldnt get through. But, it seems that there was not one(single) machete to be found anywhere on the train. we were going to be stuck. Now came the time that i misunderstood someone on the train, who i swear said to me that we would have to get off the train and walk along the tracks to reach the next station. The next station being Namtok. She said this wasnt very far from where we actually were. So i walked along the track with other people of the train. 30 mins later we reached a station(not Namtok), and the lady said we had to wait for a minibus.( seems that i had wrongly joined a tour group, the lady being the leader who was not impressed that i tagged along. Anyway she agreed to drop me off near Namtok, so i could find my own way back). Finally did make it to Namtok, where they were quite a few people waiting for the train to go back down the valley. By now i was fooked, so i bought a ticket to come back dowm. I never did make it to Hellfire pass, which is a shame, as that was the only reason i took the train that day. The journey back to Kanchanaburi will be in a part 2, to be posted soon.................. Enjoy the journey.
  22. The next part of my journey, was to take the bus from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. From the hotel in Bangkok to Sai Tai Mai (Southern) bus terminal was a short 15 min journey and 110 baht cost. The cost of the bus from here to Kanchanaburi was only 99 baht, a good price i think, and takes approx 2.5 hours. These are just a few photos i took as i was wondering around the town center when i arrived looking for food.
  23. After having a nightmare bus journey back to Bangkok, i just wanted to check into my hotel ASAP. So booked into the Navalai River Resort Hotel, located on Thanon Phra Athit, very close to the river and Khao San Road. Booked once again through www.booking.com. Room cost me 1600 baht with breakfast included(but never made it to brekkie in the morning). Check in was quick and speedy. Free wifi, not too slow but not quick either. Had a room on the side of the building. After reading reviews about being at the front, im glad a went for this room. Roof top pool here, with great views over the river, and a roof top bar. Nice hotel, i would stay here again, but there is a 1000 baht joiners fee here.
