  10. The Streif on the Hahnenkamm, the most dangerous, and fastest downhill race course in the world. Every year the best World Cup skiers in the world challenge themselves on this course, to try and win on this world famous piste in a time of 1min 59secs. So, the race starts off from the Starthaus....... ......you then preceed down the Startschuss, covering a distance of 180 metres in just 8.5 seconds ............. ......until you reach the infamous Mausefall jump, where jumps of anywhere up to 80 metres are made........ .....no time to rest, it's time for the Steilhang corners, a very sharp hairpin(ed) right, then left, then right hand turn..... ..... Then it's out onto the Bruckenschuss and Gschoss straights, the flattest part of the course, where your skis must glide perfectly to maintain speed..... .....then onto the Alte Schneise......... ..... No time to rest, it's time for the Seidlalm jump, this jump is taken at 90 km/h..... ..... Now it's time to enter the Larchenschuss and Oberhausberg,(doing an average of 102km/h) straights which require gliding and concentration..... ..... Adjusting your speed and line for the all important jump of Hausbergkante,a jump of 50 metres, taken at 100 km/h..... ..... With the thighs burning, and lactic acid building up in the legs, you have to traverse across the Querfahrt..... ..... It's then down the Zeilschuss and Zeilsprung and across the finishing line( doing over 140km/h ) to win the race..... I hope you enjoy these photos, and that it gave you an inclination of what it is really like to race down this piste. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yjeJdJNabJI
