  1. PAL was terrible on their UK-BKK-MNL for one reason only. They only had 2 dedicated 747's on the route and flew on Tuesday and Thursday. So if one broke down?? you were buggered for at least 2 days. THen again I think Phillippine airways were the first airline to have beds on that routing. The waitresses would nick them if Business class was empty. And Kuwait Airport? Grey dismal Concrete building, and what tickled me about Kuwait airways was they always read something from the Koran just before Take-off.
  2. Oh to each their own mate. Its just a personal thing. I used to fly Arab airlines a lot ( I got lots of freebies). I was on one of the last Kuwait Airlines flights into Kuwait before Sadam marched in and I always used Gulf air as back in the 80's their food was always so good, but over the last 10 years or so Ive moved away from Arab airlines, especially at the moment with imminent war between Iran and Saudi. I have never ever used a Saudi airline due to their hardline Islamic attitudes and their duplicity in cosying up to us to buy our weapons etc then rewriting their version of the Koran m
  3. My apologies. Ive never flown Emirates.=, and with the mounting problems in the gulf I doubt I will ever fly any arab airline in the future.
  4. Just wait till 24 hours prior to take off. check in then book your seat right up the back.
  5. I never take anything more than hand luggage if I travel alone. I tend to buy cheap clothes there. Ive never travelled on one of these Hand luggage only flights though. Good price though !!
  6. What a Joke. BA Treats Economy customers like shit for years then tries to get them back NOT A CHANCE BOYS "We want to be the airline of choice for everyone. Every customer matters - short haul or long haul; economy or premium. So we must have an offer that is attractive to everyone." Telling the audience that "we face waves of new competition on all fronts", he noted that budget carriers such as easyJet and Ryanair are now "giants" while low-cost long-haul is "becoming a more resilient model than many people anticipated". http://www.mirror.co.uk/travel/news/british-airways-unveils-n
  7. Ive never used Purple Parking in all the times Ive parked at LHR. I dont like leaving my car keys with anyone. Ive always preferred either the Hotel and Parking deal or T2 Long Stay.
  8. If youve left your car with Purples parking you could be waiting to get your car back, but Holiday Extras have bought the name so maybe all is not lost A MAJOR airports car parking firm has gone into administration — causing chaos for holidaymakers, it emerged last night. Travellers returning to the UK faced two-hour waits to retrieve their cars from Purple Parking, which has been operating at 26 airports for 25 years. https://www.euroweeklynews.com/3.0.15/news/on-euro-weekly-news/uk-news/146316-major-uk-airport-car-parking-firm-goes-bust https://www.thesun.co.uk/travel/4839166/lo
  9. Pretty similar to Swampy when I arrived there a couple of years back seemed to be walking for ages. Last year I got the Meet & Greet and the wonderfull electric buggy. THATS the way to go !!
  10. Try Bala, lovely place or maybe Llangollen and the superb Pontcysllte Aqueduct a few miles away. Try walking over the aqueduct, made my wife nearly chuck up when she looked down. Park up at Froncysllte drop down onto the canal towpath and walk along the lovely leafy approach to the aqueduct. You can realy smell the wild garlic along there
  11. So with respect to the UK that means 11 months of the year is OK to go !
  12. I think its a great bit of publicity by Qatar but I just dont think the traffic is there for 4 flights a week. 2 maybe. but 4...........Nahhh
  13. I remember having a great shag with a pro in Kalgoorlie back in the 70's.
  14. Just get some Business cards printed with Travel Agent on them. Years back even hotels that outwardly would not allow Local Joiners would allow them for Travel agents etc. When booking in we would simply ask for the Duty manager and we would be given Red cards that allowed girls in
  15. I know for a fact that Officers back in the 80's were allowed out all night. They would have rooms booked at the Diana and it was also well known back then that many officers went up to Bangkok for several nights whereas the lower grades were limited to Pattaya
  16. I just cant see it being a profitable option personally. And theyre using the Nightmareliner?? OOHHHHHH No.
  17. Thats right but at heathrow you dont have to enter a number. You just slide your passport in, it asks you a few questions about liquids and how many bags then prints your baggage labels. If you havent given the advance passenger info like passport number etc when booking then other than putting in your Amadeus number the system hasnt a clue who you are.
  18. But I cant see how you could use the passport reader machine at Heathrow without giving either the booking agency your passport number or checking in online and completing the advance passenger information? If you havent checked in online or given your passport details then how do you think the passport reader knows who you are?? It relates your passport detail to your booking. There was nothing wrong with how the girls put their passports in as I tried it for them as well then asked if they had checked in online and they said no. They went to the check in desk and all was then fine.
  19. After dropping a friend off at T2 the other day and after using the new Check-In system myself a few times, I have to say what a pleasure it is now. I can remember the days of queing for hours for the Air Canada or whoever check in crews to arrive and start begrudgingly checking us peasants in. so fast and easy and no more bloody queue's Check in online first with passport details etc. Walk in, poke Passport into little machine, 4 button presses, and your baggage tags arrive. Walk through to Bag drop, pick up, boarding pass, then off ya go. The other day I was trying to explain to
  20. From the Heathrow.com website http://www.heathrow.com/transport-and-directions/heathrow-parking/heathrow-long-stay-parking Pick-up and drop-off Members of the public can use the Long Stay car park for two hours free of charge. Re-entry to Heathrow Long Stay parking is prohibited within 24 hours. This facility is not available to private hire and trade vehicles. Upon exit, the barriers will read your ticket or registration number. For stays of over two hours the standard Short Stay tariffs will apply.
  21. Indeed so and well pointed out. Ive used the Free long stays a few times when meeting friends and wanting a cup of tea or sandwich beforehand
