  1. Butch, It was on the WestEastTravel home page where I read about the 30Kg baggage allowance with Eva, maybe you have to book with westeast to get the allowance, or you can call the Eva office in London to see whats what.
  2. Thanks for that Billions, I do have a Thai Orchid club membership and will be booking in the next few days, but 20Kg is enough for me to lug about and these days i don't tend to buy much in Thailand to bring home. Chok Dee
  3. Probably because of the big drop in Oil prices, both Eva and Thai seem to have upped their economy baggage allowance to 30Kgs.
  4. TG916 and 917 passengers were not inconvenienced too much, arrivals about 2.5 hrs later than scheduled, well done to the TG engineers.
  5. The lunchtime Thai airways flight TG916 had to turn back to BKK today because of an hydraulic problem. Fortunately the aircraft landed safely at Suvarnabhumi. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2890990/Thai-Airways-flight-London-returns-Bangkok-plane-suffers-hydraulic-leak.html
  6. Cheers jacko, I know that in the early days of BKK it was like a rugby scrum once through arrivals, at least it has improved things spreading the taxi drivers waiting for passengers into the different areas.
  7. I had a warning email today from Keak Pattaya, aka Pattaya-taxi which many of you use. "Remark (Danger) You see my driver already please ask him from mr keak pattaya or not and get my driver to call me and you speak with me or my staff for SURELY, becasue some time have Guided ghost or Fraud COPY your name and pick up you before my driver to Pattaya is same, But the price is not same sirMaybe more or big problem for you." I am not sure if under the new government this is just a temporary problem, put em in the Bangkok Hilton and throw away the keys I say. :) Is Gate 3 what some people ca
  8. I have just looked at lifecare labs web site,http://lifecare.siam2web.com/?cid=1208969 they now offer the fingerprick INR test with the Coagchek XS unit for 400 thb with instant results.
  9. Cheers tallguy, at a push i could watch it on my laptop via the VPN, but it's not the same as being in a lively bar.
  10. On Saturday November 8th it is England v New Zealand and Wales v Australia at 2130hrs Thai time. Are there any bars which tend to have Rugby games on TV as opposed to the soccer of the English Premier League.? I would prefer to watch the England game, but they both should be good games so if I have to watch the Battle of the Sheepshaggers, that is not a problem. TIA
  11. I don't carry a tag, I guess I should get one, I have my Warfarin card in my wallet at all times. Last year in Hua Hin the clinic charge was not very high, they send the result next day by e-mail, I am guessing at the charge but it may have been 350thb. Fortunately the liberal quantities of beer I drank on holiday did not affect the INR reading. :) I think those Roche coagulant readers are about £250 to buy on Ebay, but the strips are very expensive and not easy to obtain.
  12. I am on Warfarin and when on holiday I would like to get my INR tested with a fingerprick test, is there anywhere in Pattaya which does this test? When I was in Hua Hin a year ago I had a sample of blood taken and the nurse seriously struggled to find a vein to take a sample.
  13. I booked last night after 11-00pm UK time direct with Eva, out 5th November return 17th December, 6 weeks £543. I think this promotion may finish in 7 hours time, 06-00 UK.
  14. I phoned Thai in London on Thursday and asked if they had any promotions coming up as their fare was £250 more than Eva for my dates. The CSA told me he couldn't find anything for trips over the 30 days (i am going for 43) only promotion fares for less than 30 days. I will be booking Eva on line after 11-00pm tonight, I think their latest off finsishes on the 30th september. A very interesting read of Billions about LHR T2 not being too fussy about hold baggage being over 20Kgs, I don't want to lug 40Kgs but mine is usually around the 21-23 mark..
  15. I was thinking of staying at Bay Breeze but I noticed this guest house which I have never noticed before, it is on one of those small sois near to the Apex. The location seems good for me, it is also quiet according to Tripadvisor and nearer to Mikes Mall Pool as well. Best of all it is less than a 1000thb per night. TIA
  16. I thought the Bay Breeze prices were reasonable, a standard room for 8 nights is about 900thb per night. In the past I have stayed on Soi 13 but now rooms there are 1500thb plus, as I am going for 6 weeks I need to keep the lid on things. Bay Breeze can be a little noisy but it is located well for songthaews/Metro etc, just that the sea in Pats is so shit, maybe Mikes mall pool will be best for me.
  17. Any BMs stayed at Bay Breeze since it was all re-vamped? I am mainly interested in what the pool is like these days, I never even looked at the pool before cos I understood it was pretty poor. TIA
  18. I believe that there are 3 or 4 airline lounges at T2 but the one you can pay to enter is the Premium Plaza lounge or a very similar name. I think it costs £40 and you are only allowed 2 free alcoholic drinks, any more must be paid for. Fullers have a London pride pub airside which could be your best bet. Finally if you are flying Eva you can go to the Eva cash desk and ask about buying lounge access, again this will be about £40 but should give you access to the Air Canada lounge. If any BMs can add any further info then it will be most welcome.
  19. I have just used Skyscanner and they threw up TravelUp as my cheapest direct flight, £526 with Eva. That is very very good but can TravelUp be relied upon, have you used them? TIA EDIt I have just seen that Eva Air direct booking is £555, £30 quid more but still very cheap for a direct flight and probably a better bet to book with. I think if I book direct with BR then I have to take the credit card with me that I used to book the flight.
  20. For my forthcoming November/December trip Thai are averaging around £740 LHR-BKK but that is for 6 weeks, for 30 days the fare is around £600. Netflights have Eva Air at £528 for the 6 weeks, even the official BR web site the fare is just £574, no wonder TG are reducing their flights. Yes I know, I have not yet booked and when I do I will finish up paying more.
  21. How far along Beach road Jomtien do the Songthaews go before turning around or do many turn around at the Police box? TIA
  22. Do the SS still use the Loyalty card system? I have looked on their web site but couldn't spot it. I recall they used to give you a drink voucher for Scandi bar as well.
  23. Yes, my e-mail states that Thai Airways will now be moving to the new T2 at LHR later in the summer, rather oddly Eva Air still move as scheduled next Wednesday.
  24. Fiend How do you get on with the seat layout in economy? I believe that the 777 is 10 seats across as opposed to Eva's 9.
