Eva air use American Airlines as their handling agents at LHR, and they open about 4.5 hours before the flight. Just right for me, get through all the stupid queues etc etc and then hit the lounge. I will be slumming it at the Servisair lounge, only £15.

Has any board member flown on Air Asia X? I wondered what the seats/ entertainment was like and how much you have to pay for food and drink etc. I had to laugh at the new Walliams Lucas airline programme about FlyLo, they have lie flat beds but they are upright The greasy owner even makes you swipe your credit card to release the life jacket if the aircraft ditches in the sea.

surry, as Monty says, get there as soon as you can. You never know if the train will be late or any other things can go wrong. You've probably looked forward to this for a long time, even if you were in bed you wouldn't be sleeping, you'd be thinking of all those Thai girls who'want take care you' Have a great trip, and don't forget the report warts an all.

I hate to depress you guys, but it is my turn on the 26/1 I have just looked on netflights and the fares are £321+189 tax=£510 Eva economy .......................................................................£546+260 tax= £806 Eva Elite (P E) And also Thai Airways........................................£357+233 tax= £590 Thai economy These fares are for returning 17/2 and show just how much extra we have to pay for tax etc, quite how Eva and Thai are different by £44 on tax who knows. This trip I have had a freebie with my miles, so it has only cost me £260 for Elite better th

" Will it hit 50? " It will do if Mervyn King keeps his gob shut.

Don't worry G M, it's only 10 days between a bad haircut and a good one.

Maybe it's the Christmas spirit but thanks for the input and lack of flaming because I know this matter has been discussed many times before, even by me. It is just that all the banks, money institutions etc seem to be moving the goalposts regularly and whilst we cannot beat the damn bankers like Fred The Shred, at least we can discuss matters on here to make sure we have as much money as possible to have a good time in that Number 1 fun country of Thailand.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll take as much cash as is reasonable to cushion the blow. I expect you chaps have felt this currency business a bitter pill to swallow. A couple of years ago it was almost 70 baht=£1 and that was it, now 47=£1 less about another 3.5 baht bank charges, 43.5. And don't even get me started on the UK rip off airport tax, which apparently the Thais are thinking of copying. Anyway happy New Year to you all.

I have just had my Nationwide Flex account statement which covers my recent trip. Now I know many of these things have probably been covered before but can somebody tell me what charges I would incur for my next trip if I took out travellers cheques, because the ATM route is getting silly. For a 10,000 baht withdrawal I got charged 150 baht £3-00 Bank of Ayudha (sp) £4.33 Nationwide commision £1.00 " " non UK cash wdl The 10,000 baht worked out at about £213 and I was charged £8.33, not far off a total of 4% What charges would I incur if I

I assume this was the pre-flight safety check, the aircraft seemed to be bouncing around a bit, unless the cameraman was 'Knocking one off'

IMHO, since the increase in UK airport tax on November 1st, anything below £500 is a very good price. I am having a 'Free' rewards flight with Eva in Elite class, the 'Free' flight has taxes of £259.

I found this on youtube, hopefully it has not been shown before.

Well, we now know that Snow has something in common with yellow shirts Seriously I hope all you BMs get away on your Hols and have a great time.

If you want the GBP rate to rise, then someone has to put some Duct Tape over Mervyn Kings mouth.

The game is on Saturday at the National stadium (near MBK), not sure of KO time. That huge stadium that you can see from the motorway out Ratchada way always looks the sort of place you wouldn't like to be an away player in.

I now see from a link that LCFC are staying at the Pullman Aisawan hotel Naklua, it had been spun that they were staying in Phuket, probably too many folk would jump to conclusions if it was known that they were staying in funtown. A few years ago the players got themselves into a lot of trouble at La Manga Spain, so what happens when they hit Soi 6 who knows? Sven, "OK boys, I'm first, you can have sloppy seconds"
-
I have heard that they were going to Phuket, yet the Bangkok Post said Pattaya. Sven will be down Soi Cowboy with Robbo after the match, for sure.

About 6 years ago on Loy Krathong I had a nice afternoon drinking session with an Aussie guy at Na Jomtien, this meant by the evening I was well libated. I took a stroll down soi 7, saw some baloons at a bar and did a bit of baloon chasing but also paid bar for a TG. We strolled down to the Boulevard of Broken Dreams, aka Beach Road and I bought my new found girlfriend a Krathong. Although the water was well out I went and floated the Krathong after taking off my shoes and socks. When returning to Beach road and Tirac, I sat down to put my socks and shoes on what i thought was a wood

Whilst just googling for info on the new Eva aircraft with the seat problems I found out the image was taken at AMS, BR 747 taking off from runway 36L, still a good piccie. Older board members will remember the Eva 747 one at LHR

Two premiership players have won gagging orders to stop the press printing details about their private lives, my guess that a tall robotic dancer may be one. Have you heard that leicester City FC are now partly owned by a Thai consortium and the ground may have it's name changed from 'The Walkers Stadium' to 'The King Power Stadium'

For UK members, more bad news for November along with the increased airport tax. Nationwide Flex account which used to be free and then it went up to 1%, is now going up to 2% + £1 charge for every cash withdrawal abroad. Time for me to find a better deal. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/nationwide

I think fares can be 800-900 quid after 9th December.
-
Irish Well spotted, knowing Eva the web site promotion is probably a year old, I'll try and give them a call tomorrow to see what the score is.
