I agree that exit seats can be the worst on the plane, on Toms seat plan I am not sure how much the rafts stick out upstairs on the 747. I fly in the zoo most times and seats can vary depending on how full the flight is. Exit rows are usually full but if the flight is not too busy then the standard seats can be OK. With my Eva silver card I can normally get an empty seat next to me blocked if the flight is not busy. For that reason I travel usually on Tuesday or wednesday and try not to fly over very busy periods. Sorry guys, 16 days to T and counting

Cheers Guys I will be flying LHR-BKK on 20/11 then DMK-CNX on 24/11 with Nok Plus. CNX-BKK (for Pattaya ) on 1/12 There is an Air Asia from CNX to Suvarnabhumi at 1140 or a Thai at 1440, maybe if I catch the TG I will not arrive Pats until around 1830hrs. The Air Asia time suits me better but the TG flight would be a better experience, I still cannot make my mind up, "Up to Me" Not sure where you are these days Tom but if your schedule fits in with mine anywhere I'll take you for a night out.

I am looking at flying Air Asia from Chiang Mai to Suvarnabhumi because their schedule is better. I believe that you are only allowed 15Kg checked baggage, are they pretty strict on excess? Is it 80 baht plus 7% per kilo for excess? my case will probably weigh in around 21 kilo which should mean 480+7%, just over 700 baht. Also I think that you can pay a little extra when booking to be one of the first on the flight, not sure if they make sure there are no queue jumpers because passengers being passengers try to get away with what they can.

marley Don't forget the 20K that the upgrade is only a one way upgrade. As chivas said, with H class no miles but you have cheap fare and should be able to upgrade one way with a bit of luck. The elite cabin always seems very popular, I think they have a lot of farang couples from Trailfinders etc The whole idea of FF miles is so you do not butterfly to another airline, maybe the TGs should do the same

In Bangers I think that the Honey hotel Soi 19 and the Manhatton Soi15? run out less than 2000, Honey has a swimming pool. Of course there is the infamous Nana hotel as well, they have a pool and a disco

UK members be aware when booking your flight through Eva Air. So you get free National Express tickets when booking through Ours Travel, WestEast travel etc, but if you book direct on the Eva website you are not eligible for free coach tickets. I booked direct and paid about 20 quid more because you get a few extra FF miles but then found out about no bus tickets. Next time I will go back to Ours or WestEast. I shall just have to do more eating and drinking in the Lounge at LHR to get my money back

Cheers Tom I quite fancied 85K but not if the slide is in my way. On the 777 G row was OK, never had anyone need to move me to get out, now with the 74W an aisle seat upstairs means 2 pax need to pass over, assuming both seats full. I bet it's lovely and quiet up top. My travel arrangements change almost daily Booking direct with Eva is £489 inc tax, the PL is very tempting at £1229 inc tax but I think that I will stay in the zoo

I believe that Eva have been flying a 77W refurbished 747 on the USA west coast route for a while, this aircraft has economy seating upstairs in the bubble. If you have flown up top can you give a report, ie: best seats etc? I have had a look at the seating plan on the Eva web site but I am not sure if there is a life raft sticking out the door so that if you are in A row you cannot stretch your legs out, if you remember this was a problem in the old 747s in Evergreen. TIA

With Eva Airways can you purchase a decent priced discount ticket even if you are staying over 30 days? I have seen tickets valid for up to 30 days for around £480 but a ticket valid for 3 months comes out at just over £700. I suppose that is why tickets are heavily discounted, because they are only valid for a month. TIA ps. I maybe heading out early December.

I have had a sausage roll and a meat pie from the kiosk between 7 and 8 on Beach Road, pretty disappointed. They look better than they taste, also microwaved so the pastry is soggy. If you are thereabouts, have a beer at We Are The World bar, only 45 baht, Lisa is a great singer and show woman(not that kind of show you pervs)

Thai Air have just had delivered a new A380 all painted up in lovely airline colours. OK, lets have a VIP flight to CNX (Chiang Mai), better put some journos on board as well Trouble was the winglets bumped into a hangar door on taxying at Suvarnabhumi. Airbus's Top pilot was quoted as saying " I think it will be alright to fly without the winglet" A tip of an Airbus A380's wing scraped a repair building at the Suvarnabhumi airport while preparing for a test flight to Chiang Mai on Saturday morning. European plane maker Airbus let Thai Airways International (THAI) uses the world's

butterfly I tried to send you a PM but your mailbox will not accept them, if you are interested in selling your Eva Miles send me a private message. For anyone wanting to see the layout of the new 747s go to Evas web site, then find fleet facts then click on 372 seat 747. The bubble is economy, with PL up front downstairs, the Elite cabin looks marginally better than the 777. Travelmood are offering discounted tickets LHR- BKK valid up to 9th December for about £481 inc taxes which are £179+£5= £184 FWIW I agree that Eva Air mileage programme is poor with reduced miles for flights plu

bob I think that you'll find that Eva fly the old 747 from AMS, which means no PL, just First, Business etc, on that route the Evergreen deluxe is probably the best bet. Not sure where you are based but I looked at paying my own fare on Easy etc to connect at Amsterdam.
-
bob Eva are changing from the 777 to refurbished 747s on the LHR route, I think that this happens from early December. 777/74W Same Same, but different

fili A lot of the sois are between Beach road and Second road, eg: Soi 6 goes from Beach to second. Baht buses evry few seconds clockwise, down Beach and back up Second. No Tuk Tuks in Pats.

mws If you have to fly with Thai, check out their web site, they usually have some offers on their off peak flights.

Cherry Bar Party - "The Pirate Party"
Gus replied to Hammer's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
skygod Good to see that your are LOS bound again. We hadn't heard from you for a while. You know how much the BMs look forward to your TRs. -
UK guys can get a fantastic breakfast of fresh fruit, Bacon, sausage, eggs, mushrooms, black pudding, tomato, hash browns and baked beans with toast, tea or coffee etc and it's only 1120 baht YES, Rip off Britain, this is on GNER trains but most other train operators will charge similar. I think I'll stick to soi 13 Sportsman, it's also expensive if you have the full works, about 200 baht.

Reading this thread got me wondering about what happened to Air Asia x. They ordered some new A330s at the Paris air show and look to be starting up in the last quarter of 2008. Watch this space.

jonty If you were born in 1973 that may be the problem, you're too young The multi entry non immigrant O visa for over 50's is the one I will be going for later this year. Of course if you are over 50 then I may have to change consulates and use Hull rather than Brum

That's it, the dream is over again for awhile and I am back in sihtty UK. I have travelled many times to Pattaya but this was my first time with Mr Tooms service. My flight arrived slightly early but the driver was waiting and we were soon on our way. I just gave him 1200 and everybody Sabai Sabai, no "give me money for tolls" etc. The car was OK, a little old, but me 'Same same' The driver was very imaginitive in the road works on the Chonburi Bypass and he undertook as much as he could in the very slow moving traffic, roughly 2 hours from Suvnarabhumi to soi 13 Pattaya. The

I don't think that there is anything sinister in it, it's just how it is nowadays when you book flights etc. I have just booked with westeast and it went reasonble but not great, same same Ours travel. If someone has a direct line number for one of the English bosses that would help BMs.
