  1. Hi, People tell me that BA has a very old fleet. It's good that they are buying new planes and the Airbus A380 is the best plane for the long haul routes East. Should be plenty of new orders for this great success.
  2. Hi, British Airways getting in on the act. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/transport/10159538/BA-takes-delivery-of-worlds-largest-passenger-airline.html
  3. Hi, The Indians seem to be making an appearance! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekytTpFy96o
  4. Hi, Where will it all end ? This guy is usually a booster for the economy but is downbeat today. http://www.cityam.com/article/two-reasons-worry-about-bubbles-global-markets Two reasons to worry about bubbles in the global markets by Allister Heath June 3, 2013, 5:19am IT'S MONDAY, dear readers, so here are two reasons to worry. Let's start with the least obvious: Britain's listed firms are doing far less well as a group, when assessed properly, than most people seem to think. Forget about earnings per share in the FTSE 100, or any of the other adjusted and partial measures. If one looks at the purest measures of profitability, and extends that to the 350 largest firms, the picture is gloomy. As we report on p1, net profits from the FTSE 350 plunged 29.7 per cent in 2012, to a level 14 per cent lower than in 2007, the Share Centre reveals, but better than in 2008-2009, the two really bad years. Gross profits (sales minus the cost of goods sold) fell 6.9 per cent; pre-tax profits declined by 24.6 per cent. Companies are failing to pass on rising costs to their customers. Revenues rose just 2.1 per cent, much less than they have in recent years (total turnover is up by 44 per cent in nominal terms since 2007, but profit margins have collapsed). The largest 100 firms (which are more global than ever) grew sales by 2.3 per cent to £1.83 trillion, while the FTSE 250 eked out growth of 0.9 per cent to £238.2bn. After tax profits from the large cap firms fell to £104.0bn, down 30.8 per cent; for the mid-caps, profits were £10.5bn, 16.5 per cent lower. The squeeze was spread across sectors - but the pain from banks, oil and gas and miners - which are massively over-represented among the very biggest London companies - is a major explanation for this bad news. Lower raw material and energy prices are now a disaster for UK Plc; we are in many ways a commodity market. But regardless of reason, it's clearly bad news for stock market bulls. The other, even greater, reason to worry is the global bond bubble, to be seen in the context of the Bank for International Settlements' latest warning on the side-effects of QE. The bond bubble - fuelled in part by the authorities' massive buying of government securities - saw signs of popping last week and could take down other markets and entire economies in its wake. The global junk bond bonanza - issuance is up 53 per cent this year - could also be throttled. Yields have been going up everywhere, including on gilts and in Japan, but the US action was especially noteworthy. US Treasuries suffered their worst month in two and a half years last week. Some attribute this to better economics news, and the possibility that the Fed could tighten money - but whatever the reason, watch the bond markets like a hawk this week.
  5. Hi, Looks good. Great presentation of the food as well.
  6. Hi, Arsenal clinch the last spot for the Champions League. Scholes, Carragher and Owen call it a day. Great players of the Premiership era.
  7. Hi, A less than usually exciting last day of the Premier League. Arsenal and Spurs provide the battle for the final Champions League place. David Moyes has his last game in charge of Everton before taking over at Man Utd. Tough job but he has proved a good manager at Everton. Chelsea are in the unusual position of being in possesion of the main European cups for a few weeks. Having won the Champions League last year they now have the Europa Cup as well in their possesion until next weekend when the 2 German teams decide who takes over as Champions of Europe. They will be dancing on the Kings Road this evening.
  8. Hi, Well done to Chelsea. Flying the flag in Europe.
  9. Hi, Just Wigan and Sunderland in the mix for the drop now. Both have games against the teams going for the final Champions League place.
  10. Hi, I really enjoyed Wigan beating those highly paid superstars. Ya Ya Toure played like he was on an extended holiday. McManaman was great for Wigan and I was happy to see that Honduran/American Roger? Espinosa win. Those Scottish/Irish players and South Americans from the backstreets of small countries really showed their street fighting ability. They had no fear of City for sure.
  11. Hi, Stoke stand in Spurs way this weekend. Not a team many would pick to play when they need a result and Stoke need a point to be sure of survival. Newcastle have a tough away match and face Arsenal on the final day. Wigan are 2/7 to be relegated so the bookies think they are down.
  12. Hi, Cracking game at the Bridge last night. Chelsea failed to polish off Spurs and they paid for it. Spurs showed great bottle to fight back and could have won it in the end. Wigan seem down this time round. I'll be sorry to see Wigan go down, will Martinez get the Everton job ?
  13. Hi, Good point for Sunderland with 10 men. Swansea travel to Wigan toniight with little to play for so I'm hopeful for Wigan. Martinez is one of the main architects of the Swansea success story so there will be no desire among Swansea supporters to relegate him. They face an away game at the Gunners a few days after the Cup final so that will be tough for them. They have to hope that Villa are safe when they make the trip to Wigan on the final day of the season.
  14. Hi, Dont forget they played each other in the FA Cup as well. Most neutral observers have serious reservations about the refereeing at Stamford Bridge.
  15. Hi, A great day for wac as David Moyes blue army land the handicap again. Chelsea beat United again. It's a mystery to many how Man Utd have won the league so easily this year. Chelsea have proved far superior in the head to heads. It's no mystery to me however. The answer is RVP.
  16. Hi, Ta, Just got the news here as well. http://www.attheraces.com/article.aspx?hlid=534600&lid=&raceid=&title=All+Too+Hard+retired&ref=PA+Racing+Feed&nav=home050513&sub=&day=Sun Australian champion All Too Hard has been retired, hot on the heels of his half-sister Black Caviar. A winner of four Group Ones in his last five starts, connections had mooted a crack at the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, but his owners (Vinery Stud, Kia-Ora Stud et al) have decided he is worth too much as a stallion prospect to risk any damage. "We thought long and hard about it, but the horse has got nothing left to prove," Vinery Stud's Peter Orton told The Daily Telegraph. "He's the best three-year-old in the country, and the best of a very good lot. His ratings are up there with the best. "There were two options - retire him or race another year. But this horse is a pretty important part of going forward for us as a stallion prospect, and there's so much more (that awaits) as a stallion. "It would have been great fun to go over there (England) and from an Australian perspective show the rest of the world the calibre of Australian horses. "For All Too Hard it was also a chance to help his northern stud career. But what he has done here is good enough."
  17. Hi, Villa seem safe after another good win. Lambert and his team will have learnt a lot this season. Benteke has been a great signing and should have been awarded Young Player of the Year. Wigans good form has brought half the league back in danger of relegation with their usual late good form. I'll be hoping Wigan stay up again and beat City in the FA Cup Final. It's a good scrap for the last two CL places. Arsenal haven't been great this year but must have a good chance of beating Spurs for one of the positions. I consider Chelsea a good thing for the other place. PS: Congrats to Hull City for making it back to the Premier League.
  18. Hi, I'd say they are trying to breed some sprinters as the Aussie ones seem to be much better than the European sprinters at the moment.
  19. Hi, Coolmore buy another Aussie star. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/horseracing/10034462/Coolmore-push-out-the-boat-by-paying-27million-for-top-Australian-sprinter-Pierro.html Coolmore have taken the adventurous step of splashing out big money for one of Australia’s best young stallion prospects, Pierro, who was recently retired, having won Sydney's two-year-old Triple Crown, and 10 of his 13 starts, including the six-furlong Golden Slipper. What’s big money Down Under these days? Well, insurance sources claim the price tag for Pierro was just short of Aus$40million . The significance of Coolmore’s bold move is that it is one more vote of confidence in Australian bloodstock from the Irish stud following the success of Fastnet Rock – shuttling between the northern and southern hemispheres will be obligatory – and it provides a new bloodline among the abundance of mares by Danehill. Pierro is by Lonhro, who is currently shuttling between America and Australia for rivals Darley, and came as part of the package when the Ingham family sold Woodlands Stud to Sheikh Mohammed.
  20. Hi, It wouldn't surprise me if an honourable exit was arranged for Wenger this summer. Too many Arsenal fans don't realise the great job he has done keeping the club in the frame with little money. We'll have that Dortmund guy if he is willing to work in Blighty.
  21. Hi, If you were Lewandoski would you choose Bayern or Man Utd ? It's a no brainer IMO.
  22. Hi, Nidnoyham was a good poster on this thread for years. I was thinking of him the other day when I saw Brentford hit the bar from a penalty in the last minute. If they had scored they would have been promoted. The other team went up the field and scored to go up to the Championship. Brentford have to go into the play offs. Good luck boys.
  23. Hi, Maybe Coolmore would be interested in him as a stallion ?
  24. Hi, Remember that Liverpools record is superior in Europe.
  25. Hi, Nice one.
