The A380 and 787 are aimed at two different markets. The direct competition for the A380 is the 747 (game, set and match to Airbus) and the for the 787 it's the A350, neither of which are in service yet.

You can book your seats 100 days in advance with EVA, either online or through their reservations people. FWIW, it's sometimes worth phoning the airport number and asking for the emergency rows. Reservations staff can't allocate those seats but some folks at the airport can.

mofo, Yes, you can use the lounge at Manchester (personally, I find it a waste of time). Just make sure you check-in at the Gold/Silver/Biz Class desk or else the agents can be a bit dopey. Maha services are basically if you are clearing customs at Doha. As a Gold/Silver card holder you get access to the respective lounges in the main terminal in Doha, but not to the Premium terminal unless you are traveling in biz (or 1st) class.
