  1. Andy, It may be worth getting your missus a CELTA before you come over. As a nurse she would have to re-qualify in LOS but there are always openings at the Faculties of Medicine at the various universities or Nursing Colleges for ESP Trainers/Support staff with a medical background. To what extent they exist in Pattaya, I have no idea but would assume that there are openings up in Sri Racha or Chonburi City. Although you appear to be well qualified, I'm not sure that the quality of the immediate vacancies in Pattaya will match with what you expect. Whatever the case, I would take the time to do a fair bit of research on the ESL industry in LOS - there are a lot of scammers and operators who, to put it kindly, don't necessarily have your best interests at heart. And they're not all Thai by any stretch of the imagination.
  2. It's where Soi Zero/Regent Marina/Bus Station used to be.
  3. You should be able to get a 20 yr-old Corolla for around 100k. Whether it would last you 6 months is a different matter. http://www.thaicar.com/en_index.asp
  4. In what respect?
  5. Depends on which aircraft you get. The AY089/090 is decent enough on a A330, the AY095/096 is an old MD11 and is one to be avoided.
  6. I booked into the Gardengrove about 9 months ago. The staff, if that's what the solitary female could be termed as, when she eventually appeared, was obnoxious in the extreme. I didn't complete my check-in and simply moved to the Somerset apartments next door. There are too many other options available to be bothered putting up with that sort of crap.
  7. I think it's fairly safe to assume that any 800-1,000 Baht hotel on Soi 4 is GF.
  8. Seems more like a daft business owner .............. he can't make the business pay and want's somebody to pay him to take it off his hands.
  9. Why is he a silly bugger?
  10. Ditto the above. As for the password thing ...... I am retarded when it comes to routers and all the DNS speak, so I simply take my router to the TT&T (or are they called 3B now?) office and the girl there hooks it up and does the password thing on it for me. When the Maxnet offer first appeared down here they said you were better off with the Premier package for P2P and VOIP stuff but now it appears that you need Premier simply to access sites outside Thailand.
  11. I think the big deal with Air Asia comes around if your final destination, or part of your itinerary, isn't one of the main hubs. So if you're including the likes of Angeles, Siem Reap, Vientiane (even Phuket, Krabi or Chiang Mai) then the numbers and timings can crunch out in your favour. The problem is that you've got to be prepared to do a bit of leg work on their website. On the plus side, it's good to see that they now include all the taxes/admin fees etc in their advertised prices.
  12. LOL. I'll keep that one in my list of Scally's Greatest Quotes ...........
  13. LOL. They're not very good at this airplane lark, are they? I don't think they've been able to get rid of the A340-500s that they got for their US routes.
  14. I wonder how many A350 XWB sales will be on the board by the time the 787 is actually delivered to its first customer. You've got to say that Boeing missed a trick somewhere along the line.
  15. Able to stream the porn, are you?
  16. I spoke to a guy at one of the local unis last week about the issue. He said that the international service had been restricted in order to try and force heavy international Voip or P2P users to change over from the indy package to a premium package. I think it coincided with TT&T hiving off the internet side as a separate business - is it called 3B or something now?
  17. Jacko, Have you suffered a degradation in the international service on Maxnet the last month or so?
  18. That would explain a lot.
  19. Why do you say that? The AOT limo service is pay upfront.
  20. Not unless you want to spend most of your day sat in a taxi in Bangkok. Combined skytrain/river taxi is the quickest/cheapest way to see the main sights.
  21. Check the schedule ........
  22. At the moment, around 4k baht incl tax for travel after 1 Oct on Air Asia.
  23. Yep, it doesn't seem like fifty-odd years since they beat England in the World Cup.
  24. I wonder if Vic stayed up to watch the game.
