  1. Good to see you embracing some good British culture ......... Friday night curry and lager.
  2. I think it's irrelevant whether the taxi is metered, or not. It's whether the vehicle is allowed to accept public hire that determines the plate colour, hence the songthaews running on yellow plates.
  3. Does the 1,500 Baht include booze?
  4. Public hire taxis run on yellow plates. Green plates are effectively for non-public hire airport/hotel/tourism company passenger vehicles. The critical difference for Joe Punter is that his travel insurance may not cover him in a white plated vehicle since their insurance requirements are significantly different from those applied to yellow and green plated vehicles.
  5. Thanks for the info. You should highlight the fact that you are running on green plates ....... could make a big difference to someone if they ever have to submit an insurance claim. Can you also confirm that the vehicles have full boot space i.e. they don't have a LPG tank taking up half the space.
  6. What vehicles are used for the airport pickups? Do your vehicles run on green or white plates?
  7. He started a thread on seafood. Looking for the equivalent of Bentley's in London, or something. He probably should stick to curries.
  8. There are no current plans to upgrade the economy cabins on Thai's 747s.
  9. Agreed .... the various Qatar deals require travel by 30 June.
  10. I agree with jacko. Just move one lot of cash over per year (9.50 one-time charge using HBOS online) and use your UK account for online payments etc and to withdraw cash when on holiday outside of LOS.
  11. jack, Emirates 777's on the BKK and LHR routes are set out in a 3-4-3 configuration as opposed to 3-3-3 offered by the likes of Qatar and Etihad. If you are a big guy, it's an issue.
  12. MBE should see you right. Several locations to choose from. http://www.mbethai.com/mbe_network_chonburi.asp
  13. It's not in Jomtien.
  14. There are loads of decent Thai owned and run places in Pattaya. Blaming the Thais in general for what amounts to no more than crap management is stretching things a bit.
  15. The previous promotion was set up on the TAT site within 2 weeks of the airports' fiasco. It was run in conjunction between THA and TAT. Many of the deals were only open to Thai residents.
  16. What's the turnover and profit margin? Did you pay yourself for your time?
  17. What flight times have you got. I had a play around on Qatar's own site, albeit originating in BKK, and couldn't pin down a return with decent connections. I may have another go in case they have released seats at the lower price on the decent connections. Edit in: Thanks Pauly, I owe you a beer. Under 1,400 biz class does for me.
  18. That's the info I have (Channel 61 (TrueSport 3) Today's game at 2315, tomorrow's game at 2200.
  19. You owe me for a new keyboard!
  20. That's a shame but, as has been said, not really surprising. The economy cabin on their 777 was, for me, the best that I have used on a long-haul flight.
  21. Not all immigration offices will issue the "Certificate of Residency" and point you to your embassy. No great drama per se, drop off the application one day and pick up the letters the next (at the Brit Embassy). You just have to hope that the local transportation office is singing from the same songsheet. I took along the Embassy letter (in English), together with my rental agreement (in Thai) and they were happy with that. Of course, the TG whose name the bike is in. will also have to agree to the transfer of ownership and provide her side of the documentation.
  22. Both semi-finals are being advertised incessantly on True.
  23. I pretty much gave up trying to find a menu to compare like for like, other than the two shown above which seem to indicate that you are charging exactly the same prices as door2door (at those 2 outlets anyhow). The only other like-for-like comparison that I could make was on your published beverage prices ........ 330 ml Heineken or San Mig - D2D - 50 Baht, Delivery Express - 75 Baht 330 ml Tiger or Singha - D2D - 45 Baht, Delivery Express - 65 Baht 325 ml Coke or Sprite - D2D - 25 Baht, Delivery Express - 35 Baht Red Bull/Lipo - D2D - 20 Baht, Delivery Express - 25 Baht It seems to me that you're making a big deal about so-called menu mark-ups whilst at the same time you're stuffing customers with your drinks prices up to 50% more expensive than your competitors sell identical products.
  24. Just like Malaysian and Cathay didn't have the option to drop Manchester.
  25. Funnily enough, the PAD in Thailand used the exact same argument against the people that voted in the last government.
