  1. I don't think Thai has got any available cash at the moment. It has had to push back deliveries of its A330s that should be getting delivered round about now.
  2. The last I read was the A380s were being shoved back to 2012 ....... I think TG could do with shedding around 20% of its staff to bring it in line with its regional competitors.
  3. Firstly, you'll need a work permit. That means you'll have to find someone to employ you or set up your own business. To practice medicine I believe you have to take the corresponding Thai medical examinations, in Thai. The Dr Olivier guy would be a good source of info.
  4. TG is probably trying to consolidate it's pax loads. Chiang Mai is one of the destinations that they currently serve from both airports whereas the Khon Kaen flights are simply being moved from DMK to BKK. I've heard nothing from NOK about them moving to BKK and their schedule still shows DMK for Had Yai flights for the next few months at least. If they move to BKK I can't really see much point in Thai persisting with them as a LCC.
  5. jacko, Thanks for that ..... just reminded me to Skype my mother to put my numbers on the Euro Lottery this week.
  6. Kev, The LCCT (low cost carrier terminal) in KL is in a permanent state of upgrading/building works so what outlets are there one day are likely to be gone the next. I never noticed a bar the last couple of times I've been through (in the last 6 weeks). As for KL forums ..... the WSG is the only one I know but it doesn't really give a whole lot of decent information. Any decent hotel will be able to arrange a massage girl or if you are after a FL, Beach Club on Jalan P Ramlee is probably the best place in town for choice if you're on a short stay.
  7. MYR to THB is easy ............ x 10. Their XL (biz class) is running at 4k MYR (Incl) at the moment .... 40k baht or 800 quid.
  8. nidnoyham, AirAsia has a 48 hour sale on at the moment ...... about 47 hours left to run. KUL-STN is about 18k baht return incl taxes.
  9. On the plus side you get to sit on His Lordship's throne at the top table.
  10. Robin, Watch out for the guy knocking on the door at 8 o'clock and trying to smuggle in his own goulash.
  11. Your ticket may say 180 quid in taxes but what it means is 180 in taxes and surcharges. Only the actual tax element is refundable (fuel surcharges are not). You may also find that any refunds are subject to a "handling" or "administration fee".
  12. Malaysian numbers seem to be working OK ....... are you calling outside their operating hours?
  13. TG910/911 operates between LHR and BKK. The 747 does it non-stop without any restrictions.
  14. Have a look at the section heading ........... "No bar or bargirl discussion here please." Anyway, congrats on your new president and your first trip.
  15. Tariff? It has nothing to do with tariffs and everything to do with the pound's crap rate of exchange. Buy a camera from LOS and it's going to cost more than 18 months ago , as is a bag of jasmine rice at Wing Yip. Buy a flight ticket originating in LOS, the US or EU and it's going to cost more than it did 18 months ago if you pay in GBP. There will be a lot of pressure on airlines' UK schedules over the next 12 months simply because few of the airlines' cost are in GBP and therefore current exchange rates will be making some of those routes unprofitable at current ticket prices.
  16. Why use an agent? Just go to the Bangkok Airways office at the Fairtex complex on Pattaya Nua to book your flight.
  17. When is your girl travelling?
  18. nidnoyham, Have you looked at Air Asia (to Stansted) from KL?
  19. Perhaps it was the other guy's turn to drive ..........
  20. Davinci on Soi 31. Can be booked on www.ratestogo.com for less than 1,600 Baht. http://www.davincilespa.com/rate.htm
  21. Win, Thanks for taking the time and effort to put together your report .... it's appreciated.
