  1. Err, the Sheraton Grande is home to BarSu, originally Rivas, and has been a freelancer joint for years. As has Spassos at the Hyatt, Club 87 at the Conrad and CM2 at the Novotel. All of the aforementioned hotels are guest friendly. Of the lower Sukhumvit hotels, I have stayed at the Marriott, Westin and Sheraton ...... all three are totally guest friendly. What all these hotels also have in common is that the punters and the girls are treated with the utmost courtesy, something that can't be said for many of the more typical monger hang-outs.
  2. Some of the 5* hotels in BKK are home to some of the biggest freelancer hangouts in the city.
  3. You are covered by neither ATOL nor ABTA if the agent issues the ticket (including e-tickets) within 24 hours of the booking. You need to take out additional airline failure insurance.
  4. I think you'll find that the free somtam is meant for the girls. Anyway, you should be out house hunting, shouldn't you?
  5. No, Joe ..... it's one thing to celebrate holing a putt but quite another to then continue to play up to the crowd and orchestrate them for no other reason than to attempt to put your opponent off his shot. That, as you said, is boorishness and is what Westwood complained about.
  6. whilliam, eltib never mentioned you ............ he was referring to stooge #1.
  7. Who needs Tiger? Hopefully he'll be fit again for Celtic Manor so he can drag the whole US team down with him. I thought the US team were seen to be enjoying their golf compared to recent competitions. None so was the difference more marked than in Phil Mickelson's whole demeanour and body language compared to a couple of years ago. Just goes to prove that the competition is as much about attitude as it is about ability. Anyway, great stuff and I just have to catch up on a whole weekend's sleep now. I think Westwood's complaint was about Weekely playing to the gallery before Westwood had made his putt. If Weekely feels the need to do that, fine. Just best to wait until after the point is won IMHO.
  8. If your insurance is paying or you don't mind getting ripped off then it is worth considering. Trouble is that you go in with toothache and end up with heart-bypass surgery. Just in case. Most of the urologists at Bumrungrad visit for a day or two a week. The rest of the time they are working at places like Vejthani which will typically set you back 50-60% of what it would cost at Bumrungrad.
  9. You don't pick up your cases .......... they're booked through.
  10. Very old news ........ the deal was announced and posted on the board in April. Pattaya To Get Hilton Hotel
  11. Whilliam ....... 1,088 posts in how many months have you made? And only two of them are worth anything. Go back to the funnies section or listen to some ABBA.
  12. Surely you mean by the end of the week ........ not end of the year? Or do we just add it to the Scally list of predictions. SIA receives sixth A380 Thu, Sep 18, 2008 AsiaOne Singapore Airlines (SIA) received a sixth member to its A380 family today. The superjumbo touched down in Singapore at 8.23am, following a delivery flight from the Airbus Delivery Centre in Toulouse, said SIA in a news release. The new A380 will operate on the Singapore-London route commencing September 20, complementing an existing A380 daily service. "The Singapore-London route is the first in the world to be operated twice a day by the superjumbo," said SIA.
  13. We'll file that under Scally's Greatest Predictions ........... along with the others.
  14. It's booked on an e-ticket. No address, other than your e-mail, is required.
  15. You can still book ............... and select your seat.
  16. They've just added additional flights on the Heathrow route and have got to operate the flights or lose the slots at Heathrow. Better to get some revenue and market share, especially during Ramadan.
  17. You're still able to book ..............
  18. Scally, Word has it that the double insulated switches in the showers were a bit dodgy. Good article from Business Week below .............. Stooge #1 might be interested in the comment about Airbus laying off workers ..........
  19. Any pics of the potential barfines?
  20. You are not wrong . you were asked to do a cut and paste in Post #949 on the subject.
  21. If the strike extends beyond three or four weeks we could be looking forward to a BigD "787 on Schedule to Fly in 2007 2008 2009" thread.
  22. Don't worry, BigD. I'm always happy to remind you.
  23. You said in your first post that the LAN was installed last December. It was not. Neither was wi-fi installed in March. Just another couple of examples of your lies about the place. No we have to believe you that the owner has wired the rooms on a LAN. I shouldn't have to point out but your stories change according to whatever way the wind is blowing. Please try to make up your mind.
  24. Looks like the strike is on. Not very good news at all. Boeing, machinists talks fail; strike is on By MANUEL VALDES – 4 minutes ago SEATTLE (AP) — Despite a 48-hour contract extension, negotiations between Boeing Co. and Machinists union officials have failed and the union declared: "The strike is on!" The Machinists bargain for about 25,000 aircraft assembly workers in the Puget Sound area and about 2,000 more in Wichita, Kan., and Portland, Ore. Picket lines went up in Wichita early Saturday and West Coast machinists were due to walk out at 12:01 a.m. PDT. This is the Machinists' second strike in as many contract negotiations. They struck for 24 days in 2005. The company said it would not try to assemble planes during the strike. Boeing spokesman Tim Healy said the company is open to further discussion, but both sides were too far apart to reach agreement. He added no additional talks were scheduled.
  25. I don't doubt you. (Well, no more than I doubted your claims about double-insulated electrical switches in the bathroom). Just making the point that it would seem to be a bigger selling point than "non-slip tiles" in the bathroom. I recall that in Feb/Mar time a boardie (jackcorbett (?)) mentioned that the guesthouse was going to have a new internet system installed (1 gb download speeds no less You even said in March that wifi had been installed ............. Can't understand why they installed wi-fi when they had a LAN and then immediately ripped it out and went back to their LAN.
