  1. Just keeping the thread on-topic. It's a sad day when you resort to trying to threadfuck your own threads.
  2. It's on 21 Dec. Beware of werewolves.
  3. Not quite. If it does affect you and/or your family/community, make sure you have your priorities in order. What was so special about your project anyway? Why did you select a particular village in Khorat?
  4. Thank fuck it says RR on the engines and not Airbus.
  5. Mick, is that a VIP 24 i.e. 3 seats across?
  6. The 'official' dates for Songkran are 13-15 April, it doesn't matter if you're in Bangkok or Pattaya. There are various festivals planned on different days around the country. The additional celebration that takes place in Pattaya on the 18/19 April is the Wan Lai Festival. There's actually a decent website that tells you the dates of the various festivals throughout Thailand. Songkran Festivals
  7. Exactly. Appeals for donations and collection points had been underway for several weeks before the OP got involved. Quite why anybody would expect the TGs to contribute anything to some anonymous village in Khorat when their own homes/villages in Roi-et or wherever had probably been devastated is beyond me.
  8. Discussion? I think the original title of the thread was "Boeing kicks Euro Butt". It was never meant to be a "discussion", only a bit of xenophobic Euro bashing. The fact that you and the OP have been made to look complete twats is just a bonus.
  9. A "whooooooosh" moment if there ever was one.
  10. LOL. The Blame Game continues ...
  11. About the same time as D's 'Big Move', I suspect.
  12. I didn't forget at all. The guy I was replying to quoted his income as increasing by 30-40% over the same period. The point was that your income would have had to increase by 75% to have the same purchasing power as 10 years ago. It's the (UK) guys who started visiting around 5-6 years ago that will be noticing the price differences the most. 100 quid would have bought them 7,500 Baht 6 years ago. They'd now need 9,200 Baht just to keep up with inflation - that would cost them almost 200 quid in 'real' money today.
  13. I don't know what figures you're using but 10 years ago 100 quid would have bought you 6,200 Baht. To buy the same 6,200 Baht today would cost 132 quid and that doesn't take into account the 30%+ compounded increase in the cost of living in Thailand over the same period. That means you'd have to buy around 8,200 Baht to account for the increase in the cost of living - i.e. it would cost you almost 175 quid to buy the same as you did 10 years ago.
  14. The ad was lifted from their website. The service says direct KL-Christchurch - although, technically, that could include a stop in Oz (KL - Christchurch non-stop is right at the operating limit of AirAsia's A330s). Other reports are specifically saying, non-stop. "Low-cost, long-haul airline Air Asia X is to launch non-stop service between Kuala Lumpur and Christchurch, the biggest city in the South Island of New Zealand. A team representing Christchurch and New Zealand finalised a deal with Air Asia X, which the team says is the world’s fastest-growing low cost carrier, to bring long-haul flights direct from Kuala Lumpur to Christchurch. Christchurch will be the airline’s first destination in New Zealand. The Christchurch/New Zealand group met with the owner of Air Asia X, Tony Fernandes, and his executive team to sign a deal that will see a new airline operating to Christchurch and offering exceptionally low long-haul fares. Details of the deal will be released in the coming weeks, according to Christchurch International Airport (CIAL, IATA code CHC)."
  15. One of today's offers ...
  16. Obviously the head honcho at Qatar Airways shouldn't have listened to Scally's on time, to spec and within budget nonsense. Boeing Dreamliner 'a failure', says Qatar Airways boss The chief executive of Qatar Airways has criticised Boeing over delays to the 787 Dreamliner, reportedly saying that it has "clearly failed". Akbar Al Baker said he had been "taken aback" by the problems that have plagued the delivery of the aircraft, the Reuters news agency reported. Meanwhile, Boeing has announced it is revising its schedule after a fire on a test flight earlier this month. It had hoped to begin delivering the plane at the start of next year. 'Foreign debris' Production of 787s is about three years behind schedule, with delays mainly a result of the supply and fitting of parts. A test flight had to be aborted on 9 November after a fire broke out on board. Boeing has blamed a piece of "foreign debris" in a power panel. Qatar Airways has ordered a minimum of 30 Dreamliners, with the first due to be delivered in the last quarter of next year. Mr Al Baker was also dismissive of the Bombardier C-Series planes Speaking at a news conference in Paris, Mr Al Baker said he had not expected such delays from Boeing, because the US-based company had "pride in its quality". "They have very clearly failed," he added. He added that Qatar Airways was considering buying more Airbus A380s on top of the five already ordered from Boeing's arch-rival.
  17. I've no idea when the service will start ...
  18. I assumed that an extra zero had been added by mistake.
  19. Quite. Let's move the goalposts.
  20. It's just an extension of his "we saved your asses" mentality. Anyway, it looks like you'll get the 787 in time for the Olympics. There again, maybe not. Boeing set to announce seventh 787 delay By Geoffrey Thomas | November 22, 2010 [uPDATED] Boeing is set to announce a seventh delay in its 787 program, possibly pushing delivery out by up to nine months to the fourth quarter of 2011, after the inflight electrical fire to its ZA002 on Nov. 9 (ATW Daily News, Nov. 17). On Thursday, Air Lease Corp. founder and CEO Steven Udvar-Hazy, who ordered and was the largest customer for the 787 when he was Chairman and CEO of ILFC, told Bloomberg at the ALTA Airline Leaders Forum in Panama City that the 787 will “definitely” be postponed a seventh time. “It’s a big setback for Boeing,” Udvar-Hazy said. Boeing has now flown ZA001 and ZA005 back to Seattle from Rapid City, S.D. and Victorville, Calif., and is continuing with ground testing of the 787. The company is tight-lipped on the status of the investigation but insiders at Qantas engineering told ATW they understand there is a “significant problem” and first delivery [to ANA] will be the “end of 2011.”
  21. I assume you mean 79 Baht/3 kg. The 99 Baht is from Tesco's current promotions. 50-120 Baht/5 kilos works out at between 10-24 Baht/kilo.
  22. You may want to check your rice supplier. Generally, it's around 24-40 Baht/kilo depending on the quality, and even Tesco currently has it on offer for 20 Baht/kilo for a 5 kilo bag.
  23. Rolls Royce isn't owned by EADS. In fact, it's no different to Boeing. The bottom line is you're just trying to avoid acknowledging that your whole thread has backfired and left you looking like a total twat. "Analyst: Boeing 787 fire will spur four- to six-month delay The fire on Boeing's second flight-test 787 Dreamliner last week will delay the first 787 delivery by four to six months, analyst Scott Hamilton wrote Friday. Based on "numerous conversations with many sources who have knowledge of events," Hamilton wrote that the investigation is focusing on foreign-object damage as the cause of the fire in a power control panel, although investigators do not yet know how and when this damage occurred. He said the fix will "almost certainly" require some redesign of the panel and electrical system". So, who are you blaming for this delay?
  24. February isn't current.
