  1. I just hope the Yanks turn up on time.
  2. I chose to support the US in the competition way back last September so them being drawn with England was a bit of a bonus. I've got 100 quid at 7s and 8s on the Yanks to win and I think they have a good chance to do so. They are ranked only 6 places behind England and showed in last year's Confederations Cup that they are able to compete with the best. On the flip side of the coin, they may have had a look at the rest of the group and decided a draw will suit them both fine. Hopefully the Argentina - Nigeria game can kick-start the tournament and provide us with a decent night's entertainment.
  3. I had to laugh when Cameron/Capello/Beckham were trying to score points and going on about the troops in Afghanistan and linking them to the England squad. I bet the guys in 1 SCOTS and 1 SG were really impressed. Anyway, I prefer to look at the positives and concentrate on what the Scots have given the world rather than who we beat up 50 or 100 or 500 years ago. In the case of the footie game in 1950 we just helped give the Yanks something to celebrate.
  4. Tesco does things like that.
  5. ... and Uncle Sam's parents were Jocks. ... how did a thread about world cup referees end up here?
  6. And manager ....
  7. Did you know that Siggi went on to become manager of Thailand ....
  8. I, quite deliberately, didn't mention black players, and opted for the anglo-saxon angle instead - all immigrants aren't black - it just makes it easier to point the finger at them. As for tennis players, the top two British women are Elena Baltacha and Anne Keothavong. As for the guys, No 2 behind that miserable Celt, Andy Murray, is Alex Bogdanovic. Good old Anglo-Saxon names, you'll agree. Rugby? All these guys have been capped for England .... West Indian - Delon Armitage, Jeremy Guscott, Danny Cipriani, Paul Hull, Paul Sackey Nigerian - Chris Oti, Andrew Harriman, Victor Ubogu, Ade Adebeyo, Steve Ojomoh, Ugo Monye, Topsy Ojo. Ghanaian - Paul Sackey New Zealanders - Riki Flutey, Mark Van Gisbergen, Lesley Vainikolo (Tongan- born), Dylan Hartley, Henry Paul Malaysian - Rory and Tony Underwood ... and so on, and so on. I wouldn't have much of a clue about cricket but would have thought that it was ripe for a bit of Asian influence. But, apparently not.
  9. Franz Beckenbauer?
  10. One. Ed McIlvenny in 1950.
  11. Peter Bonetti was the offspring of immigrants.
  12. What happened to the footie with the English commentary? Will it be competing with the music and karaoke, or what?
  13. We've had lots of comments over the last year how England has been taken over by immigrants and their bone idle offspring and how they should all be repatriated, or worse. But I think mass immigration has it good points .... Part 1 - So just how many Anglo-Saxon males will be in the England starting 11 versus USA. Part 2 - How many Anglo-Saxons WAGs will be in the starting 11? BTW, I've gone for 4 + 9. And no, you can't have 5 WAG votes for Ashley Cole.
  14. Are you going to share the secret with other BMs?
  15. Maybe he thought you were being Sarkie.
  16. Surely you mean the young Australian teenager .....
  17. You don't know what their break even point is. It's certainly not the same as it was last month, or even last week.
  18. I don't get it. According to the site they've only been 'selling' seats for the last 30 mins or so. I ran through all the dates KUL to STN and absolutely zilch available.
  19. They went on sale on Monday. Anyway you can pick up a pair of his 'n hers and save yourself over 12 grand.
  20. A foot in mouth moment there from packhike methinks.
  21. They raised over 2.5m quid for charity. And to be fair to Harrelson, they only let him play 12 minutes as a sub - and take a penalty. Apparently it suits the US players if the ball isn't actually moving when they attempt to kick it. And I bet they do give a shit about 'soccer' in Kampangphet.
  22. You always have a chance .... :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_OLwqVc7M4
  23. Italy v N. Korea will bring back some good memories for you.
  24. I can think of a few reasons.
