  1. Lemon face how did you go with your condo search.
  2. After being married to a Thai for 10 years I can only agree with you. Years ago I just stopped trying to teach things and just accepted.
  3. Love hearing all these poor bastards from what were once great countries that are now sliding to third world status bickering over who has the best sand pit. I am Australian so no point in joining in, I know Australia is the best.
  4. Agree my favourite coffee shop in Pattaya
  5. Good luck with your condo search.
  6. http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37606 I hope this link works. Have a look at Hagone Condo. I sold this room a couple of years back. It was a well managed block and you could buy a basic room that needed to be refitted for around the 400,000 baht mark.
  7. Are Kiwis coming over by boat now
  8. When I ask have you come yet and I just want her to say yes so I can stop
  9. I did a double take when I saw the pics. I lived next door, the other side of the yellow flowers, for a year and a half. The neighbours were good and very quite place to live. Had no worries about my daughter playing outside. The rent is right on the money, I paid 9000 a month but moved back to Aus 1 year ago. PS. We never had need of a oven. Food available everywhere without cooking.
  10. I was going to comment on the price, high, until I viewed the pics. I have had experience in doing up VT condos and this one looks excellent in my opinion. Certainly quality renting for a family and good value. I wish you success with finding tenants.
  11. Remember when that whole complex laid empty for years then when it started to pick up it became known as a gay bar area. I know the bar he is talking about and must admit have walked past many times and never been tempted to go in. Also the price is crazy at 1.3M. I bought a shop in VT5 for 1.5M rented it out for 18Mths at 15K a month and then sold it for 1.7M and that was owning the place under a foreign name. Paying 1.3M for what? you do not own anything just the fittings
  12. Maybe because I was raised in Australia but fire and vermin ( termites) worry me a lot with wooden homes. But it certainly looks beautiful.
  13. I rented a 2 bedroom furnished house, cable TV etc off Soi Khaotalo for 9000 a month. Not 5000 a month but you can see what torrenova is getting at.
  14. Ok for those reading this and thinking of making a move these were my approx monthly costs. I lived in Pattaya for 2 and a half years with my wife and daughter returning to Australia last year. Feeding 3 people so a single guy would spend less on food, electricty etc. Small 2 bedroom furnished house on the Darkside 9000 Electricity 1000 Water 300 Village security, garbage collection, maintenance 200 Supermarket food 8000 (2000 a week ) Restuarants, markets, street sellers food 9000 ( 400 a day) 2 nights out a week with mates 16,000. ( Say on average one 1000 bar fine per week , not like
  15. This made the evening news in Australia. You would have to be bloody stupid wouldn't you.
  16. Not a bad deal. The mamasam at Tahitian Queen ( Beach Rd ) told me the the bar fine for the 25/12 and the 31/12 will be 3000 baht. Same reason to keep the girls in the bar entertaining the clients but would hurt the regulars who arrive over the Xmas period and want to bar fine their favourite girl LT.
  17. hehe. Good one, something different.
  18. Little pizza restaurant on 3rd Rd next to the Boxing Roo bar. Best I have found in Pattata.
  19. Christ 2 times. Ricky better start pacing himself or else he will wear himself out. He is gotta be there to buy him a drink in a month. It is kinda like a door tax
  20. Thanks for the pics Martin. I was layed low with a dose of the flu so missed it this year.
  21. I do not agree with this but it happens. 2 of my mates came to Pattaya a couple of months back and had problems with one gogo. They are Australians but of Greek origins. Thai's cannot tell the difference so this one gogo tried to stop them thinking they were Muslims/ Indians/ whatever. Normally they would not care but the ladies they wanted worked in the gogo so they did eventually get in after asking for the Manager to come out ( a farang). They started to then carry their Australians passorts which solved the problem when it happened one more time. Same gogo different door staff.
  22. It can be done. We had problems with a new house that we wanted to cancel the contract for due to breach of contract. I don't know all the particular and you will need to track down the right Gov Dept's etc. I told my wife it was her problem because the house was in her name and as a farang I was going to get nowhere. What she did was. 1) Lodged a report with Banglamung Police just to get it on record. You could say it was fraud due to faulty materials or something. 2) Tracked down what we would call the Dept of Consumer Affairs in Bangkok. Don't know what the Thais call it but they have one
  23. Yep took a while but thats to be expected in this market. Got the final asking price.
