Bazzap replied to carlsberg's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Sad sad news. May she rest in peace -
Hello Mr Handy, Stick with the Sandy Spring. Comfortable beds (my missus loved them so thats a plus), large rooms, still looking pretty new etc You might pay a few more baht/bucks/bob but well worth it. Cheers Bazza

Hi guys, I walked past this hotel the other day and it looked oK. Has anybody that stayed there recently have any info on the place? Thanks Bazza
-
My turn to ask. I am into the Sandy Springs this Sunday 9th January Has anybody got the latest info on the the soi 13 noise and/or construction? Cheers Bazza
-
Hi guys, FWIW I am booked into a suite in the Sandy Springs (SS)in January '05 and I am going to play it by ear. In July 04, I purposely did not stay at the SS due to concerns raised on this board about the noise in Soi 13. I booked into the Roof garden Inn ( a good place too) for about 6 days. I ventured down to Soi 13 and it was soooooo quiet. So much so I moved to the SS for the last seven days of my trip. Virtually never heard a thing and what noise there was, was certainly bearable. I do not doubt for one minute the previous reports from Sateef, Roland and others but the noise factor seems to be a day to day matter. If in January it does prove to be unbearable I will simply move to a quieter location. It aint rocket science and nothing to get all stressed about. Soi 13 is a fantastic location but usually anywhere else is only a baht bus ride away to where you want to go. Cheers Baza

2 Bedroom Unit in Hotel Required
Bazzap replied to Bazzap's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hi guys, For what it is worth, I have booked a suite at the Sandy Springs for January 2005. They are going to put an extra big bed in the living room side of the suite. I have always enjoyed the Sandy Springs so why not stick to it!! Cheers Bazza -
I stayed at the Sandy Springs Hotel in Soi 13 for the second week of my July trip. You can bok through the Scandi Bar. Here is a link Scandi Bar I would suggest booking in advance as this hotel is getting popular. Cheers Bazza

Hi ya Guido, The Mid Town Inn is on Pratamnak Rd near the VC Hotel, OB Bowl etc. A short distance through the sois from Walking St. It is a small hotel with only two floors and maybe about 30 rooms. The rooms have air con and there is a pool. i haven't stayed there since the early 80's so I cant help you much. A lot of guys from the Middle East tend to stay in this area. I walked down there on my last trip and the traffic outside the hotel was pretty bad. Here is a photo of the place Mate, as mentioned by Ting Tong, I would stay in Soi 13. Very central and a short walk to either end of the soi where you can get a baht bus to take you where you want. The good thing about Pattaya is there are plenty of hotels so you have lots of choice. Cheers Bazza

Hi ya guys, I am going back to Pattaya in January 2005 with my missus and family. We are going for only two weeks so do not want an apartment. I need to book soon as this in the high season. I am looking for a hotel that has either two bedroom units or interconnecting rooms. Location - Anywhere between Soi 2 and South Pattaya Rd peferably inside that loop as I dont want to have to constantly cross 2nd Rd. Services - Must have a pool. Cost - If possible a total cost per night under 2000B. When travelling with my family in the past we have stayed at the Montien and the Twin Palms but as usual with me I am looking for a different hotel to try. I am thinking about the AA Residence in Soi 13 as it meets this criteria. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Please keep your responses to the questions asked above. Any other matters please PM me or post in the members section. I know some of you blokes love to put a different slant on my posts. Cheers Bazza

Actually I stayed in 104. They save it for the more cultured clientele. You know, the ones who go to Pattaya fo the temple tours, tourist parks etc... LOL BTW, was your mattress hard or did I draw the short straw? Cheers Bazza
-
Hi Ya randolpho, Just wondering. This photo was taken from my room in the Roof Garden Inn. is this where the construction is? thanks Bazza
-
Hello Mats, A couple of questions. 1) Is the noise coming from 2nd Rd bothersome? 2) whats behind the curtain beside the TV between the two windows? thanks Bazza
-
Hey Mats, Thanks for the review. Gee the bathroom looks a bit small. That takes the cake. I thought I had problem sleeping to midday!! Big Dusa will cream his jeans. Cant wait to hear Rolands response Cheers Bazza

Help me out folks - never been to Pattaya
Bazzap replied to uktraveller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
To eddydb, I walked into the Sandy Springs a few weeks ago and was quoted 990 B for a standard room which I understand overlooks the soi. I took a deluxe room which has a better view of the ocean and overlooks the pool. They cost 1200B. You have to go in and ask. Or you can book through the Scandi Bar. Heres their link Scandibar Cheers Bazza -
Help me out folks - never been to Pattaya
Bazzap replied to uktraveller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I have to agree with Big Mike. I only cross Second Rd if I really have to. Its a pain in the bum. UK Traveller, its your choice but I would avoid having to cross this road. Cheers Bazza -
Dialup Access From Pattaya Hotels
Bazzap replied to rob1599's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hello Rob, Just backing up what what Big Mike said. I was in the Sandy Springs just over a week ago. I got a 30 hour Loxinfo package for around 350 baht from the front desk. It came with all instructions on how to set it up. Dont forget to put in the 9, to get an outside line. They charged 8 baht per call but there was no time limits. I had a few dropouts but it was not too bad. The package is good for 12 months. I would take a 4-5 metre phone cable as the phone outlet is on the opposite side of the room to the rooms desk. The hotel rooms are good and the location is hard to beat. Hope this helps. Cheers Bazza -
Hi jtiger, I stayed at the Roof Garden Inn just over a week ago and can confirm that they do not have broadband access in the rooms. There is a terminal in the small lobby that is available although I never used it. Cheers Bazza

Took these photos today. 2200 Baht a month. Not my style but somebody might be interested. Lucky Inn is situated where Thappraya Rd starts to go up the hill to Jomtien. No doubt the the guys who stay at the Residence Garden would see this place everday. Cheers Bazza

Emil, The block between Ma Maisson and the Golden Crab seems to be used as access for the Ma Maisson building site. Cheers Bazza
-
Hi guys Here are a few photos taken Mon 19th July 04. The first two are from the Ma Maisson extension virtually opposite Sandy Springs/Haven hotels. It should be finished soon. The other photo is of the White House Condotel site. The Dynasty is next door. As mentioned by others, only God knows when this one will be finished. BTW I am in the Sandy Springs now and you can hear next to nothing from these sites. Again I hope this helps someone. Cheers Bazza

Hi Guys, I watched the runners go past the Roof Garden Inn this morning around 6-ish (I think) from my bedroom window. Fancy being out running that time of day. Good luck to them. Cheers Bazza
-
Hi guys, Thursday 15th July 1300 just had another walk down the Soi and quiet except for a few hammers and power saws. Roland is probably right as it obviously comes and goes. Ya take your chances. BTW the whitehouse condotel next to the Dynasty is proceeding VERY slowly. They have just got the scaffolding and formwork up for the 2nd floor. I walked past here last November when they were putting the foundations in. Hope this helps someone Cheers Bazza
-
Hi guys I have just walked down soi 13 (Tues 13th July 1430) and it was very quiet. Next to the Dynasty was at a standstill (maybe on a break?) and opposite the Sandy Springs they had a few guys working but they were not loud. I will keep you posted. Cheers Bazza

Any Updates on Inn House on Soi 13?
Bazzap replied to kingfisher's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hello Kingfisher, I booked the Sandy Springs through Erik at the Scandibar several weeks ago for my upcoming July trip. I emailed him a few days ago to cancel due to the current construction noise and there were no problems. I will use the scandi bar service again when Soi 13 isa bit quieter. Here is a link to their website Scandibar Cheers Bazza -
Flipper vs. Flipper vs. Eastinny
Bazzap replied to JayBee's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hi Jaybee I am another cancellation from the Sandy Springs. I stayed at the Eastiny Place in March this year and found it excellent. Clean, quiet and a nice pool. Having said that I am going to try the Flipper in Soi 7 when I arrive in 3 weeks. I like trying different hotels. Cheers Bazza
