  10. Geeze, I am a bit slow to put this up but here goes Good to meet Alf (Rightsaid) a few times on my latest trip in May. He is making some changes to TQ2 and for the better IMHO. Some new managers, new mamasan, hello girls on Walking Street, surprise surprise they are even playing SOME modern music for the girls to dance to (Sweet Home Alabama is still on the playlist though) Best news is LOTS of new girls. I was lucky enough to share some time with young Miss 39. 19 yo and about 40 kgs wringing wet. Very delectable even if was only for a S/T back in my loom. Also took this shot with the F30. No flash and handheld. Not bad seeing how dark it is in ther. Keep up the good work Alf Bazza
  11. The going rate as of two weeks ago Bazza
  12. Nice pics there Lobin. Please keep Miss Tesco ready for when I return Our mutual friend from Melbourne took the news as expected Cheers Bazza
  13. I was in town last week.I walked passed this place many times. On my last day I actually read the whiteboard signs The place is the Samsara, next door to the Flipper on Soi 7. The signs say they have large rooms with a king size bed and a jacuzz1 for 800B per night or 22,000B per month. Sorry I did not look at the rooms but some other boardie may have. Hope this helps someone.
  14. Have to agree on the Majestic Suites. Small but comfortable and the location is excellent. Here's a link to book online Majestic Suites
  15. Regarding comfortable beds, here is my two cents worth from traveling to LOS about 10 times in the last 5 years. Bangkok Good - Omnitower, Majestic Suites Bad - Grand Inn (Soi 3), First Hotel The pits was the suite (A1) at the Honey Hotel Soi 19 Sukhumvit. Two large beds that were way too hard. Big room but not worth the 1500B because of the hardness of the beds. To balance that, I have also stayed in cheaper rooms in the Honey and the beds were just OK. I first stayed in the Honey in the early 80's and it hasnt changed much. Like a time warp for you blokes of the modern era. The suite at the Honey Hotel Pattaya Excellent - Montien Hotel. Really good beds but the place isn't exactly girl friendly Good - Sandy Springs. I know some guys disagree but I have stayed there 4 times and always found the beds VERY comfortable. Acceptable - Dream Hotel Hard - Roof Garden Inn, Eastinny Place, Globetrotter Having said that I still like the Globetrotter. Yes the bed is hard and you have to walk up a heap of stairs but the bed is so large, the room is big, the view is great, the price is OK, the location cant be beat if you like Soi 7 & 8 and the management is tops. Unfortunately it has become too popular and it now seems to be booked solid. I could only get in for 8 nights for my next 2 week holiday and thats in low season. The big room at the Globetrotter I hope this helps somebody Bazza
  16. Actually if you look at the pics of the rooms it is very easy to see the air-cons. As far as fans go, I think they are a great idea. The girls seem to like them. Bazza
  17. Some pics of one of the Globetrotter's big rooms 650B per night plus air con power You can fit three girls plus you in the bed. Sunset from the balcony
  18. I stayed in room 310 in November 2005. Thiis what I wrote in my TR Globetrotter Hotel Pattaya Here is the text of some emails and PMs that I sent to several boardies. I think it should cover most questions. I found the Globetrotter quite OK as long as you get the large rooms of which there are two both on the top floor (3rd floor). The other rooms seem quite small. It is more a guesthouse than a hotel (no phones in the rooms for instance) When the power goes off you also lose your water as it gets pumped up to the rooms. The girls love the rooms because of their size, the large elevated bed and the large balcony that overlooks the beer bars and beach rd below. The stairs aren't popular but you do get a laugh from the girls about it. The bed is a bit hard. Only two pillows. The bathroom is basic but acceptable. No bath. I got 4 towels a day by leaving the cleaning ladies a 20B tip. Air con power is extra. Worked out about 80B a day. The air con worked well. They also have a in room safe which held my laptop, DSLR camera and passport bag easily Lars the owner speaks better English than I do. If you are security conscious then think again as there is easily accessed platforms at the back of the building and it would be a cinch to break in. That said I felt perfectly safe there and nothing went missing I would stay there again ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Make sure you get a room at the front with a balcony. On the way up the stairs I went (Climbed?) past a room at the back and it looked quite small and had no windows. The large room might have spoilt me though. On my way home I stayed at the Majestic Suites in BKK. Now they are small (But very nice). Actually to add to the security you have to come in through a back door after midnight that has a deadlock on it. They don’t open it up till about 0800 in the morning so if you have a friend that leaves early you have to go and unlock the door to let them out. You also have to take the key with you all the time when you are out and don’t get back till late. There is a fridge and mini bar and the costs are cheap. All the rooms seem to have the large elevated beds. The stairs were not that bad but after a week of wine, women & song it was my worn out body that was the problem. The restaurant is OK and quite popular. Actually I ended up using the back door all the time, as sometimes when the restaurant is full it is hard to get out. I absolutely love the location. Beach Rd only 50 yards away. Restaurants (tequila Reef, pig & whistle, Rosies) are very close. Two doors up there is a place called the Seaside Inn serving English food and it always seemed to have customers so must be OK. Right behind the Globetrotter is a sportsman’s bar called the Football Club. Run by an English bloke named Colin. Big TV screens, air conned and pool table. Great place to watch the sports as I did several times. Internet cafe, cheap laundry, travel agents, tailors, doctor, beer bars are mere metres away. I never found the place noisy as you just close the balcony door. And you are so close to soi 7 & 8. Soi 6 is handy as well. Tops is about 400 yards away. Plus no crossing 2nd Rd Very few downsides. No pool, no phones maybe a tad overpriced for what you really get compared to the Flippers etc Hope this helps a bit I stayed there again last month in the other large room 305. Again it was ok for me. This time they had a pedestal fan in the room which the girls certainly liked and so do I. Cheers Bazza
  19. The 1900B Suites are overloking the Soi. No ocean view. I stayed in one in January earlier this year with my missus and son. They put an extra bed in. Cheers Bazza
  20. Hello Floyd, Found ya bread yet? LOL (Remember the Blue Parrot?) Top room mate. Looks OK. Plenty of furniture. The girlfriend could have the rellies in for a sleepover!! Do ya always carry a Chisel DVD with you? Thanks for pics old son. Cheers Bazza
  21. Thanks for that spike, I see they have got the blue mesh on the front of the site now. When I was there in June/July, the guys just threw their rubbish, including concrete blocks, straight over the side directly onto the soi. It made for some interesting walking!! Hopefully November will be another great trip. I might have made a mistake but I am not staying in the Sandy this time. I like trying different places. Cheers Bazza
  22. Thanks for the info, grs90. I am booked into the Globetrotter in November. Should be an interesting experience. I have a couple of questions Are the beds comfortable? Important to me as the old back is starting to play up again. Can you get extra towels for your room? Cheers Bazza
  23. Hello Soi7, Last November, I stayed in the same room as JimmyBB (201). It looks the same as the room you stayed in. The bathroom was cleaner and the TV was larger but I found the room was a tad small. I found the place acceptable. I only stayed for two nights. The hotel has a great location. I am going to try the Majestic Suites next trip. Cheers Bazza
  24. Here is a couple of pics taken about a month ago Cheers Bazza
