  1. Bonita Springs is only 35 minutes from me.
  2. $200 more than last week on China Eastern. Is it worth $200 more to avoid them? Not for me. http://www.theflightdeal.com/2017/08/07/all-nippon-airways-616-chicago-bangkok-thailand-roundtrip-including-all-taxes/?utm_source=The+Flight+Deal+Daily+DealsLetter&utm_campaign=b020273ccc-The_Flight_Deal_Daily_Deals_Letter9_29_2015&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_eb7686b6a9-b020273ccc-174814333
  3. My airline started as a crop dusting company and years later went to hauling mail. Here's a brief synopsis of the beginning: The Huff Daland Dusters crop-dusting operation, which formed the roots for Delta, founded in Macon, Ga. This was the first commercial agricultural flying company in existence. What happened next? Huff Daland Duster's headquarters moves to Monroe, La. Huff Daland's 18 planes are the largest privately owned fleet in the world. Operations range south to Florida, north to Arkansas, and west to California and Mexico. Delta was moved to Louisiana? Huff Daland extends dusting services to Peru. Operates the first international mail and passenger route on the west coast of South America (Lima to Paita and Talara) for Pan Am subsidiary Peruvian Airways in 1928. Then what. C. E. Woolman, the principal founder of Delta Air Lines, leads movement to buy Huff Daland Dusters. Renamed Delta Air Service for the Mississippi Delta region it served. D.Y. Smith, President; C.E. Woolman first Vice President. Moving along now. Service begins to Atlanta. Lack of mail contract forces suspension of passenger service. Company renamed Delta Air Corporation. Delta receives Air Mail Route 24 from Post Office; resumes passenger service. Begins operating as Delta Air Lines 1940s - Delta goes to war and officially becomes Delta Air Lines, Inc. Douglas DC-2 and DC-3 service introduced. Flight attendants, called "stewardesses," added to flight crews.
  4. It's a cyclical industry for sure. But whatever idiot on FOX Business said that should change careers. I've been trading my airline for nearly 40 years with very positive results in both up and down airline markets. You learn 1 stock well and trade it. And before someone says don't put all your eggs in 1 basket, believe me,I don't.
  5. Has anyone here read anything about the ferry in the news or papers? From what I've read, they said they would add a larger and more stable ferry after the initial start-up,capable of carrying autos. Nothing bigger than a scooter now. And the fare IIRC is 1200b,which is 1 reason they think/thought it would appeal more to tourists than locals. But if what I read in this thread is true about low load factors, the larger ferry may be a pipe dream. 1 trip per day with a ~1015a departure from Pattaya. I plan on using it in November during a long visit.
  6. Remember that baffling term,Thai logic?
  7. Sure THEY can deadhead but the plane is needed for scheduled trips down the line. After a huge wx event, the airlines face the most difficult situation as a huge amount of crews and planes are out of place to resume the regular schedule.
  8. Another reason for operating a flight at a loss,i.e.,low load factor,is that plane and crew have to operate a return flight or onward flight. Having a crew or plane out of place requires more than just rebooking passengers at the next or onward station.
  9. That one has been there for a decade-my favorite.
  10. UPDATE in cheap Business sale I mentioned: https://thepointsguy.com/2017/08/qatar-reinstating-error-fare/ I just booked a 2nd trip for $414.56,this one in March. 4 trips in 7 months is the most ever for me. I'm sure it pales in comparison to some here but I'm happy.
  11. Will do. Actually, last week Cat Tar posted a Business class fare in error for Viet Nam to JFK for ~$575. Those that used the 24 hour hold instead of paying immediately received a cancellation the following morning. Those who paid still showed confirmed for a few days last I heard. My business class days are over now that I have to pay. I'm fine with 3 visit in 5 months.
  12. ~$415 from JFK.Other departure cities also. Including LAX http://www.theflightdeal.com/2017/08/01/china-eastern-about-400-los-angeles-chicago-new-york-asia-roundtrip-including-all-taxes/
  13. I just booked for $414.56 on Jan 16 for 18 nights from JFK. This will be my 1st ever daylight arrival. http://www.theflightdeal.com/2017/08/01/china-eastern-about-400-los-angeles-chicago-new-york-asia-roundtrip-including-all-taxes/
  14. I can speak with firsthand involvement. With the addition of the Dreamliner and A-350,long haul direct flights as you say will be the norm, bypassing hubs. Long, thin routes are perfect for both aircraft. The current example with Delta is with the arrival of the A-350,and even before,we are bypassing NRT as a hub and flying directly to cities in Asia. That's where our A-350s will fly-the Pacific. Phasing out the few remaining 744s this year with the addition of the new airframes.
  15. I used these folks to travel between PP and Siem Reap. It shows fares as low as USD 19 between the 2. http://www.bassakaair.com/
  16. 1 positive for Air China is they have a liberal cancellation policy without penalty . I had an absurdly cheap fare on them from EWR to DEL. They had a schedule change of just 30 minutes which didn't affect anything but offered a full refund without question as an option or also rebook. They refunded my fare within 5 days, even though their e-mail said 6 business days. I decided on a 2nd trip to Pattaya within 6 weeks instead. EDIT-EWR-DEL fare was USD561.
  17. But facts back up his opinion. Not a longhaul aircraft, expensive to maintain and very small passenger capacity. And like I said, not really pleasing inside, unless you liked a late '60s DC-9-15 series. Did I mention gas guzzler?
  18. I wonder how things will change there when the Chinese make Clark the biggest economic zone in the Philippines, much bigger than Manila.
  19. Hasn't that amount if 1900b remained steady for almost a decade? If I remember, that's what I paid in 2008.
  20. It was me who acquired the 10 year visa and it was indeed no strings attached. The longest visa I've had for The Kingdom is 6 months.

  22. These folks were great answering questions. Very polite and efficient. They handle all aspects of obtaining the visa. You MUST start the process with these folks. https://www.in.ckgs.us/visa/tourist-visa Duration & Validity Tourist Visa is generally issued with multiple entry endorsement. Validity of Tourist Visa commences from the date of visa issuance and NOT from date of entry into India. The Period of stay for each visit is maximum up to 6 (SIX) months from the date of entry. Tourist Visa validity could be upto Ten years. I picked mine up in Atlanta. And had lunch at The Varsity!
  23. So much to see and do there. From desert to Himalayas and literally everything in between. Amazing beaches and the most sultry women IMO. Otherwise, they recently made a single entry visa very east to obtain.
  24. I lived within 60 miles of where the Shuttle landed and we rarely heard a sonic boom. I lived within 5 miles of Dulles and I can't remember a boom but that was decades ago. Regarding frequency,it was what, once a year for the Shuttle? The Concorde was daily at JFK and other airports.
  25. I certainly haven't jumped to Boeing's defenSe. Boeing had nothing to do with Concorde's failure to get along and make money. It was one of your boys who said Boeing was responsible.
