  1. Has drainage improved since I left? Joking of course!
  2. T-Mobile free data and text msgs are included with most domestic plans. I will just need a Thai SIM for calls. Will that make a difference which local SIM I choose? As opposed to tuk com,why not just go to Central Festival?
  3. Just found it on google maps. Looks like the travel-oriented version of the other mega mall that opened just before I left.
  4. Is Pier 21 the same as Terminal 21? It's been 10 years since I moved away. To the OP-they are everywhere there-literally. I met my Pinay g/f of 1 year at Mass of all places and dated 3 other "normal" Thai ladies and I was mid-50s at the time. I am not "hansum man" by any stretch. IIRC,2 were from restaurants and other from hotel. All 3 were open to live-in status.
  5. Thanks. I was just doing that by looking at/for some former haunts! The turnover rate is still what amazes me. That bus was convenient as I lived in View Talay 2A. I'm in my late 60s now,so this may be my last visit as travel wasn't the fun and adventure it once was. Nothing planned but my hotels so far and I rarely planned beyond that except for a few ladies scheduled for the 1st few nights. Thanks again.
  6. I left on short notice 10 years ago due to an seriously ill parent. I was living in Jomtien and 2nd Rd. there was partially finished. I haven't returned since but I have scheduled 2 weeks in August. I'm sure many things have changed but if someone could just go over the major changes,I'd appreciate it. I'm going through the forum now to begin catching up.
  7. Thanks everyone for posting all these photos. Things have indeed changed. I'm returning in August for the 1st time since I left Jomtien 10 years ago.
  8. Drainage in Pattaya? Since when? When I left 10 years ago,it barely existed.
  9. What's best for my company makes me happy,as I said before and as long as that retirement check keeps coming. Actually when we merged with NW way back when ( I was actually living in Jomtien then and still have the merger article from the Bangkok Times or whatever it was called) was my 1st big exposure to that type. Honestly, after flying as the son of an airline employee,an employee and now as an airline retiree of 13 years,it makes absolutely no difference to me. A seat is a seat now. But I do prefer 3x3x3 in back. Almost forgot,I can't remember any carrier ordering 150 widebodies at 1 time and actually completing the order.
  10. "with an option for a further 24 variants of the aircraft in a multi-billion-dollar order" So what exactly DO you consider HUGE? 100 or more? But thanks for confirming my earlier mention of Airbus fanboy, like the vast majority of UK citizens. Just an observation, not a condemnation. My airline was strictly Douglas,McDonnell-Douglas and Boeing for decades but now we buy what's best for my company.
  11. British Airways Confirms Huge Boeing 777-9 Order as Queen of the Skies Replacement Continues https://thepointsguy.com/news/british-airways-777-9-order/?tid=bottom_03&utm_uniqid=e7128a487a&utm_source=TPG+Daily+Newsletter&utm_campaign=5331b0d2a2-TPG_Curated_Daily_Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_2b0b8ee2b7-5331b0d2a2-44194405
  12. My only segment on ANA 777 is 3x4x3 in back! I still rue the day we/Delta stopped flying to BKK. Higher yield elsewhere.
  13. For sure. They have such a large investment tied up in them. But they saw the light recently and change their order. The 380 fills a huge spot in their fleet needs.
  14. Production IS stopping but you have just told the world something nobody was aware of-that all A-380 flights WON'T stop when production ends! Stop the presses! Your lengthy worshipping of the aircraft type will indeed never end though.
  15. I guess my advanced age and 32 years in the airline industry have finally caught up with me. Should read 789 & 788. Thanks for catching my error.
  16. Emirates rethinks orders and says, sayonara baby. The lifeline is over.
  17. Booked on UA website. Monday-Thurs travel. I booked 2 weeks in August. 2 flights on A-359, 1 on A-358 and 1 on 777. Conx times are short, not typical long conx on Chinese carriers that saves a few $$$. Typical 1110p arrival, which is what I was used to on Delta (sigh). 650a departure and conx in San Jose,Ca. which is great since nonstop NRT-IAH was not offered at this price. Far easier to connect in SJC than LAX or SFO. eTicket Total: 565.63 U The airfare you paid on this itinerary totals: 437.40 USD The taxes, fees, and surcharges paid total: 128.23 USD
  18. Adding a cup of black beans and a cup of white rice to that Cuban sandwich would take me back home to Miami.Adda dash of Texas Pete or Tabasco to the sandwich and I know I'd be home!. Great review and it would be worth the time to get there for it. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Expect a similar sale when Qatar announces service from Belfast.
  20. When United changes it's 777 interior to Polaris seating, they are going to 3-4-3 in back. But up front, far much better with 1-2-1 in Business from . https://thepointsguy.com/news/where-to-sit-united-772-business/ https://thepointsguy.com/news/where-to-sit-united-772-economy/
  21. Some countries that require you to have travel health insurance upon entry include: The United States: Those traveling to the U.S. on a J1 or J2 visa are required to have medical coverage that meets regulatory standards for the full length of their program Schengen countries: Applicants for Schengen visas must prove that they have travel medical insurance to cover any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment or death, during their stay. Cuba: Visitors to Cuba must have proof of travel health insurance upon entry. Russia: Certain applicants for a Russian visa are required to have travel health insurance that’s valid for the duration of their visa. Antarctica – Not surprisingly, anyone taking a trip to Antarctica is required to have comprehensive travel health insurance that provides coverage for medical costs in case of hospitalization, evacuation, repatriation and emergency travel. Three Countries that Require Proof of Travel Insurance Poland. Czech Republic. Cuba.
  22. I've got 3:20 conx going and 2:00 on return,so lounge probably just on going portion. -800s going but managed A330-200 and -800 on return.
  23. I didn't follow a link for a sale or special fare. I just went to their site and booked it 4 days ago. You're right,I guess my timing was good. But should be able to use their lounge on conx in KUL.
  24. Finally, someone uses the correct term for a nonstop flight. NONSTOP,not direct! Kudos!
  25. Off topic.I just booked BKK-DPS on Malaysian Business for ~$460 for November.
