I am up in Belfast this weekend for my mates stag party . I knew he was going to LOS for his honeymoon . He is flying with Eva and they were putting him up FOC in LHR on his return leg so he could catch the flight to Belfast the next morning . I went to the travel agent he booked through ( trailfinders ) and they can offer me the same deal ( overnight accommodation in LHR FOC ) for either the 4-19th or 11-26th Jan 2003 for £505 inc taxes ! I think I'll be booking it on Monday so I may be able to meet up with you Gerald if I go on the 4th Jan . That is unless Joy has you trapped in her village

Tom , Do you work in the travel business ? I had thought of the Eva Amsterdam route but when I enquired about it from both Dial-a flight and Flightcall they said that they couldn't offer the same discounts on this route & it would cost a lot more . Can you recommend a place to book this routing ? I am getting quoted £500 approx including taxes for the BFS/LHR/BKK route , leaving 11th Jan , returning 26th Jan , that's with Dial-a-flight . Gerald , I might give the Emirates consideration , if only to find out what goes on in those airline lounges ;D . Seriously though , if you

I am trying to decide between these 2 airlines for my trip in Jan 2003 . The Eva route is Belfast - London - Bangkok but on the return leg I have to stay overnight in London as I cannot get a connecting flight to Belfast until the next day . The Emirates route is Belfast - Manchester - Dubai - Bangkok but there is a lengthy stopover of 3 hours in each airport , thus making total journey time 7 hours longer ( not counting the overnight stay ) The cost of each works out about the same so can anyone help me decide ? If I go with Eva is it worth the extra for the evergreen seats ? Are the

The only problem with flying via Amsterdam is that they have a very poor record for losing baggage , according to an English guy who Gerald & I met in Pattaya . He works for KLM , the Dutch airline , in Amsterdam airport . They have even lost his luggage on a simple return flight to the UK so I dread to think what would happen going to LOS . Derek

best place to come for 1st trip ???
TURBO replied to okulyt's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I took my 1st trip to LOS last October and headed straight for Pattaya and I advise anyone to do the same . I have just returned from my 2nd trip and this time I spent 2 weeks in Pattaya , 6 days in Cambodia and 3 days in Bangkok . The time in Cambodia and Bangkok reinforces my opinion that Pattaya is the best place for the 1st trip . Cambodia is great and cheaper but not for the faint hearted and you could easily get ripped off . In Bangkok the girls are generally more in your face than Pattaya and pressurise you to buy ladydrinks and BF them before you get a chance to know them plus it is mo -
I stayed in the Penthouse last October and in the Residence in June this year and IMHO there is no comparison . For the small difference in price the RG is 10 times better . The sitting room / kitchen is excellent for lounging around & watching TV , especially if you have a steady TG . You can leave her watching TV in the afternoon & sneak off for a ST . She'll be that engrossed in some Thai soap she won't notice you've been away . The restaurant is good and the service excellent . I ordered breakfast one afternoon and wandered over to the TV to watch the world cup while waiting . Next

Ahh the Macc Lads . The group who came up with such classics as ' Beer & Sex & Chips & Gravy' and 'Spread Your Legs And Get Your Knickers Down' . I had a mate in college from Durham who was an avid fan of them . Surprisingly no-one here in Ireland had heard of them until I came home with a tape . Derek

Lads , In case you didn't know , Gio is of Italian blood . I met him last October and he was telling me how good his Mamma's Italian style cooking was , so that is what I was referring to . I wasn't saying TG's can't cook . > Derek

Did you ever try to bring back more than 1 girl and if so were there any problems ? Where do you catch a baht bus around walking st whose route takes you past RG ? Cheers , Derek
-
Hey Gio , You might have a problem finding a Thai girl who can cook spaghetti bolognaise as well as your Mamma ;D . LOL , Derek

When I was pricing flights Air Lanka always came out the cheapest but what put me off was the long stopover in Colombo ( 6 hours ) and what the guy from www.dialaflight.com told me . He said it is not a good airport for facilities and it is not very safe so the thought of spending 6 hours there put me off . So watch your back , take a good book and let us know what you thought of Colombo and Air Lanka in general when you get back . Derek

Gerald , I'm in Pattaya from 6th - 27th June . How much did you pay for your flights ? I paid £551 inc tax and £61 for insurance . I booked through www.dialaflight.com and am flying with Lufthansa , apparently a very good airline according to my sister who was a travel agent for 8 years . The guy I booked with did not recommend Air Lanka as it involves a 6 hour stopover in Colombo , which isn't the safest of airports . I could have got an Eva Air flight for the same money but would've had to stay overnight in London coming back as I was arriving in too late for the last connecting fl

Unfortunately I arrive on the 6th otherwise you would've had some company . Ah well we'll have to meet up for a drink or 3 in FLB some night . Where are you staying - I'm in the Penthouse ? Derek

Been reading on the Cambodia BBS that a new airline has started scheduled flights between Pattaya and Pon Penh again . Can anyone confirm this as I intend to go over to PP for a few days when I'm in Pattaya in June ? Derek

Here in the UK the TV's run on the PAL system but in Europe there are at least 3 different systems used , the most common being PAL , NSTC and one used mostly in France ( ASCII i think ) . I have a Panasonic NVDS 15B mini DV digital camcorder which will work only on a PAL system . I think Thailand uses both PAL and NSTC systems so you would need to be careful what you buy . The next model camcorder up from mine has a memory chip which can store stills as well as the tape for the movies . I can store stills on mine but it uses the tape and the picture quality isn't great - see my picture

Do they allow you to install the software into their pc's to enable you to load up pictures ? I have a digital camcorder which can also take stills but you have to install software to upload them to a pc . I'm heading there in June and a while in an a/c internet cafe making on the spot reports would be a good way of killing time in the middle of the day when it's too hot for doing much else . Derek

Gerald , I arrive in LOS 6th June . Have to meet up for a few beers . Is this your 1st trip - it's my 2nd ? In my short experience the ONLY plans you can make for a LOS holiday is the flight , the taxi and the hotel . Anything else is forgotten about once you see that 1st BG smile . Derek

Oh come-on guys , you've all seen it on porn videos . Dano just fancies a little 'see-saw action' ;D. Might have fun getting a suitable girl . Hard enough getting one to do anal , never mind both at the same time . The pier might be a good place to start .

Some hotels such as the Penthouse offer a airport collection service which is usually cheaper than Thai Limos . On the subject of speeding , my Thai Limo driver on the way to Pattaya was speeding but he stopped halfway at a service station for a 10 minute 'smoke' break to kill time . Derek

Can anyone suggest somewhere on the net I can upload a few photos as I am going to do a trip report and include a couple of pics . Derek
