  1. one of those machines would be the easy way, for a non-techie only reason I could see to bother with A/V input to your computer is if you already had a VHS player & didn't want to buy a new machine to transfer to DVD either way you'll end up with a device that you will most likely never use again, but in the case of a VHS/DVD recover/player you could still play DVDs on it when you're done whereas I can't think of a reason why you'd ever use an A/V input on your computer again
  2. now you're just arguing semantics, I know how the system works & how to get those long term visas which is all that I'm worried about the marriage visa is called a dependent visa, but there's not much (if any) info on MFA's site about that when the Immigration officers talk about extending your stay associated with a Work Permit they use the term "Dtoh Visa", which means continue/extend the visa, so in their mind it IS an extension of the visa I've got 3 passports filled with stamps to LOS so I do know WTF I am talking about BTW, the person you originally suggested to g
  3. never seen one on the shelf in LOS, but I have seen them at Walmart http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics/1036920
  4. I've gotten most of my Non-Imm B visas with a company letter in S'Pore & they give you a 90-day initially & then you've got to apply for a Work Permit & then the visa is extended to match the expiration date on the Work Permit I have arranged my own visa a couple of times, one year multiple entry Non-Imm, which lasted 15 months if you time the last entry correctly, but I never tried to do two of those back to back the bit about cash needing to be in a joint account for a "marriage" visa must be depending on what Immigration office you go to. I knew guys who had it that way
  5. usually when you get a Non-Imm visa related to a company, the initial (first) visa is for 90 days, which can then be extended after you've applied for a work permit in the case of a marriage visa it's for a year, but only if the cash is in a joint account with the wife or incoming funds (to LOS) are shown to be sufficient to support your spouse (& kids).
  6. you can get your initial visa this way, true. but if you want to continue getting those Non-Imm visas you've got to show them how you're going to support your family (in case of a marriage visa) or how you will support yourself, if it's a retirement visa We are not talking about one 90-day Non-Imm visa, we're talking about having one-year mutiple entry. If you try that "letter from a company" thing more than once you're going to get denied if you didn't follow thru with a work permit application.
  7. There is a minimum balance required in a JOINT Account owned with the Thai wife for that to work. It's half the amount required for a retirement visa, but still not something to sneeze at. w/o that minimum balance in a joint account, it would be difficult if not impossible to get the Non-Imm based on a marriage. An alternative or supplement is showing an income, but I think that income has to be coming directly into an LOS bank account.
  8. I think Click or the one beside it also have rooms for rent
