What happen to the go to last post star?
MM replied to Fornicator's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Not at this time other than getting a new computer. I will open an incident with Invision and see if they have a recommendation. Might be a day or two. -
There are indeed many different looks for chicken biryani...check out these images. The one I had resembles this

Clearing history won't do anything. Clear the cache might. It sounds like you are picking up the wrong image data. -
Speaking of good food...when are you going to tell us about Brooklyn Diner? I had the best Shrimp Linguine Carbonara I've ever eaten there last week.

Are you referring to the chicken biryani? It was very good, though biryani is not that aesthetically pleasing. Maybe you are used to the "British Indian" style cooking? Do they put it in a pie where you come from? Maybe some mushy peas and beans would make you happy?

Given that I'm not British, I think I'd prefer authentic Indian food. I am not sure what the distinction is anyway, since I've only eaten in Indian restaurants here and in the USA. I'd definitely return to this place with a bigger appetite tho.

This is one of many Indian restaurants on 2nd Road near Marine Plaza. This one is right next to Wattana Market You can see the street view athttp://goo.gl/428IRC I'm not a connoisseur of Indian food, but this was good according to my tastes, and I'd go back for what I had or one of the many other choices on the menu. The service was excellent, and I had only been set for a few minutes when my meal started coming out...all assembled within a few minutes. I wish I'd asked for a doggie bag! Total cost was 320 baht, including the bottle of water I didn't order but needed after diving into the Biryani...it was 15 baht, but it saved my life.

Layla's is on Soi 16 off of Walking Street. It's a nice clean interior, is almost capable of cutting out the sounds of the Arab section (unless someone opens the door). They have a varied menu with reasonable pricing (for the area). The google map street view is at http://goo.gl/rMQS2p. To see the map location, click the box that says BACK TO MAP in the lower left panel. This street view shows the front of the restaurant. We had chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, and butter nan, water and pineapple lassi (not shown). The total bill for what is shown was 580 baht (two diners). Service was excellent, food arrived on time and together and hot. Another restaurant choice in the Walking Street area.

Here's a chicken tikka masala I had at Layla's (Soi 16 Marine Plaza) two nights ago. It had more chicken than I could eat, but I wish it had more of EP's sauce.

How Big is Tourism for Thailand?
MM replied to sabaidii2's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Yes, you are correct on hotels, restaurants (in many cases), and shopping in the big malls. I doubt there is much tax paid at the outdoor markets or private vendors who set up and sell for a day. Taxes are paid on VAT for the alcohol consumed, yes, but many many payments and receipts by hundreds if not thousands of bars are completely cash based and not taxed at all. I doubt there is more than a handful of beer bars that ever pay any taxes on business income. Larger, licensed entertainment venues do submit half-yearly and yearly tax reports, but from what I have seen, the accountants can be quite creative, and what is reported bears little relation to the reality...whatever that is. Tax compliance in this country is a joke, and I, for one, am quite happy with that situation. However, from a government standpoint, it does nothing to improve their opinion of this segment of the tourist business. Have you ever met a Thai girl who works in a bar as a hostess/dancer/bar girl who reports her tips, lady drinks, and fees from customers? I certainly haven't. -

The board software was upgraded today. I suggest clearing your cache for this site if you know how. Some symbols may have changed and you're not seeing them now. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -

How Big is Tourism for Thailand?

I think it's obvious to anyone living here that mongers are a small minority of the tourism economy, they tend to not spend money in ways that are taxed, and in essence, are a blip on the economy that wouldn't be missed except by the girls who make their living catering to them...also a tiny minority of the population. Face it, we don't matter much. -
And at 80K/sqm, it's a real steal

From the website Yikes...the land just sat there for 2 years with little activity (except sales, of course). They just started building in earnest a couple of months ago. The fucker is going to completely obstruct my view to the north. Looking at the sales info, I can't imagine a 2BR unit with 53 sqm area. I mean, these are tiny boxes...and lots of them stacked together. 22 sqm Studio is smaller than any hotel I would not stay at.
