I contacted the server company and they recommended a change to address these timeouts, but it's either made it worse or no change at all.

Ok, that's very strange to hear. Is it cleared up now?

If that was yesterday afternoon (Thai time), that was a brief hiccup in the forum settings that was resolved.

Something like that. It's not my code, so I don't know where it's hanging, and Invision support keeps trying to foist it off as a server problem without looking into it in detail to indicate what the problem is from their side.

What's Thanksgiving without turkey? Never had to think about that before.

We'll not leave it like this, of course. Sorry it's taking so long to fix.

That's what I don't know. Invision says it's probably not them, but the only thing I changed was to install their new software which doesn't affect the server configuration (that I know of). It's a mystery that is hopefully going to be resolved soon. EDIT: and this post hung up.

It just happened to me when I posted that topic!

We are going to be running this poll to see if this posting problem is continuing to affect everyone, some people, all the time, some of the time, hardly at all.. etc When you post a reply or a message, you usually see some screen like below momentarily, then it goes away and you see your reply as a post in the thread or conversation. The problem we have been seeing is that the screen below just stays there, and you have to do a REFRESH to see that your post actually finished.

I can't imagine they would have any trouble seeing the post hangs. I haven't had one post out of the 10 or so I have made today not hang. I have to wait for them to wake up in their timezone to get any further on the hangs, because it's way out of my technical ability to resolve it.

I don't think this rises to the level of saving anyone's life! As I said, at the top, the first order of business is to reduce the server costs (without impacting performance and possibly improving it). Once that is done, we can get a handle on the out-of-pocket cost for the forum. Right now it is rather onerous...for example I could insure 4 late model cars for the same annual amount, spend 5 minutes in Bangkok Pattaya ICU, or insure my wife with a top level health plan and have change left over. Same here. I have contacted Invision and they want more information because it didn't happen to them. That's a clue that I will be following up.

I restarted the webserver and database just to see if it helps because the last 3 or 4 posts have ALL hung. EDIT IN: It didn't help.
