Okay, I signed up there back in early Nov, but wasn't sure if it was being monitored or active, since you have an apparently more active subforum elsewhere. I'll post a question there and see if I get an answer

I'm on a dedicated cable connection to a house. I run two Android boxes, one a MINIX X8 from lanzalad. They both work fine for everything we have tried. I haven't tried a live TV stream yet. I only use Live TV for American Football, and I've been unable to stay awake long enough to see the games I am interested in during real-time. As i understand lanzalad's posts, the live streams are the ones that don't work. Or is it all streams on TRUE? I'm not sure where the problem with TRUE is supposed to be. As I said, the Minix seems to work fine so far.

I got the TRUE 30/3 cable too..there were no initial charges when I signed up..all included free. They tacked on the TV box (I think it's 100b or so) and I'll probably remove that..damned thing has its own cable coming down my wall into the box which I wasn't prepared for. So far, aside from a glitch that happened when I ran uTorrent that stopped all other sites from loading on my laptop (since fixed by some changes to the wifi router), the performance is superb. I'm loving it and if I had to move to get it, well, I'm okay with that too

I'd say go for it. Speaking Thai isn't essential. Gas stations can figure out of you want a full tank, even if you can't say "full" in Thai. Taking a Thai lady companion for the trip would be another possibility in case you had an emergency. The roads to Hua Hin and Phuket are decent, not rural village style, so driving shouldn't be any problem.

I believe their intent is that bars are "public"..i.e., not in a private home or residence. The second proposal mentions "public transport" locations, to distinguish from all public places, and that ban would be year round, rather than just during the two most celebrated holidays of the year. I can't disagree with that proposal too much, especially if it covers bus drivers and other conductors of public vehicles Let's just hope the hard-line religious nuts don't have sway over the others at the "alcohol-control meeting" otherwise, it's yet another stupid law that will be on the books and enforced willy nilly.

It's about 50/50 who's correct, but I lean towards the technological guidance and that, along with the female voice, causes subtle friction. As to Noi's guidance, she obviously doesn't use Apple gear, and that's to her advantage

I'll bet it also speaks Eastern Thai (Issan/Lao), Northern Thai (Chiang Mai/Lanna) and Central Thai...at least my lower model does. It's a hoot to put it in Lao and the missus perks up and pays attention to it (finally). She hates that I believe the Garmin more than her..it's almost jealousy.

I got the update a couple of weeks ago and it is much better now. The Android Smartphone Link works great now, where before it was totally useless. I can go to google maps, place a pin on that map, then send that map location to the Garmin over Bluetooth and add it was a saved place or destination.

After 1 year, you can renew for 5 years.

Yesterday I went with the FLB service staff to Bang Saray beach for a seafood lunch to celebrate the 7th Anniversary of Moulie and Suwinai . We had a good feed. I heartily recommend this as a day's outing. Bang Saray beach has good food vendors, no umbrellas, a clean shore and beach and palm trees for shade. The "restaurant" across the street where the food is prepared...excellent quality! Look for this sign on the beach road and park across the street.

Just an update from the OP... It was a temporary lull in Russian visitors...they have been back in force for the last month, and now are back....the baht bus drivers are packing them in and loving it!! Sorry for the picture quality...the missus was taking the pictures while I was driving. This is a load coming from the Ambassador Hotel south of Pattaya to central Pattaya yesterday.
