  1. Just a last bump and a link to Youtube (Sorry can't work out how to embed it here) Hope to see some of you there. Cheers!
  2. And what a complete clusterfuck it was! Forms had to be filled in, stamped and signed along with copies of ID and bank details and then HAND DELIVERED to the labour office in Chonburi. 1st day for collection was yesterday and it was chaos! Cheques missing, people queing for hours, no real system in place. Why didn't they just transfer the money to the bank account? Why ask for bank details in the first place? In terms of time and travel costs, it is hardly worth it. I was half tempted to just give my staff 2k each as it was less hassle! (But I'm too cheap for that!) Kolo: Is it really a monthly payment? I was under the impression it was a one off?

  4. The Pattaya Players (home of Pattaya's Professional Amateurs) are proud to announce their Spring production entitled, "The Odd Couple” (female version) on April 3-5, 2009. This full-length play written by Neil Simon and directed by Adam Kuhl features a cast of eight talented thespians. The script was born out of the male-version “The Odd Couple,” original Broadway play, Hollywood movie and subsequent TV series that featured Oscar Madison and Felix Unger. These two characters quickly became an unforgettable part of American culture. However, Neil Simon’s more current, gender-switching rewrite outshines the original male version in many ways. First of all, the characters of Olive and Florence are more fully developed with an expanded range of emotions. Also, the relationship of the group of friends that meet each week has been broadened to reveal more of each character and their fondness for each other. This play takes a look at friendship and how, through friendship, we often tolerate the eccentricities and foibles of those closest to us. It is very obvious that these friends who meet each week do so not merely to play Trivial Pursuit, but also to socialize, gossip and provide unconditional support for one another. Audience members should prepare for uproariously funny verbal jabs, idiosyncratic behaviors, and all-in-all out cat fights! "I like writing women very much," Simon said in an interview the same year the female version opened. "Men are more closemouthed about their real feelings, whereas women, if the situation is right, open up." (The New York Times Magazine, May 26, 1985). Director Kuhl also took some liberties of his own, adapting one of the female supporting cast members into a flamboyant gay man and casting a diverse multinational company with varied ages. The result is a fresh, frolicking adaptation of a cuttingly witty theatrical presentation. The two evening performances on Friday April 3rd and Saturday, April 4th will feature an optional buffet dinner component catered by the world-renowned chefs at The Amari Hotel. Tickets for adults will be 300 Baht (without dinner) and 1,000 Baht (inclusive of buffet). Children under 12 may attend the show for 200 Baht (without dinner) and 900 Baht (inclusive of buffet). Sunday, April 5th will be a matinee performance with no buffet available. Tickets can be purchased through any board member, by e-mailing pattayaplayers@gmail.com or by stopping by the Amari Orchid Hotel lobby in North Pattaya. Seating is limited, but if space allows, tickets will also be available at the door each day of the production. Now in the midst of their second successful year, the Pattaya Players are seeking out corporate and private sponsors to help them move forward throughout the new year. Please consider joining 2009 current sponsors: AA Insurance Brokers, Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, The Cavanaugh Community Center, Chevrolet, Indian By Nature, LCIT, Rabbit Resort, Horseshoe Point, Casa Pascal, The Sleep Factory, St. Andrews International School, Steps & Rhythm Dance Academy, The Pattaya City Expats Club, SPICE! 8. I am directing the female version of "The Odd Couple" to run on the 3rd, 4th and 5th April 09. Although the cast is predominatley female there are 2 roles for men. The characters are the neighbours and have a date with the 2 main ladies. They are Spanish/mediterrean and speak with heavy accents. They have a relatively small role but it is a very important one and sets a couple of very funny scenes. If you are interested, then auditions are on 12th January in the evening. Please PM me for further information. Cheers! LF

  10. To be honest mate, both can be difficult to find unless you have a guide to show you around. If you don't know anybody who lives there then your best bet might be heading for Noi's bar on Soi Khao Noi and meeting a couple of the reprobates who hang out there (me included). If someone has the time or is not too pissed (unlikely!) then they might show you around. If you decide to go it alone then go across Sukhumvit Road to Soi Siam Country Club. Head up here about 4 or 5 KMs and you come to a crossroads with a sign for the Elephant Village to turn left. So, take the left and head down that road for a couple more KMs until you get to the end and then turn right. BP2 is about 100 metres on the right. Another option is to ask Hammer to arrange a trip for you and a few buddies with his Baht bus driver. I think the guy knows his way around now and is willing to wait for you whilst you have a drink and a fiddle. Good luck! LF

  13. As always, a great satire on this town we love! Cheers! LF
  14. If it turns out as promised then it could be a real landmark and anybody who gets in there now at the lower prices should realise a good investment. However, it is expensive compared to other projects and I would also be a little concerned about the location. There is going to be a lot of redevelopment at the pier over the next few years.
  15. Ok Guys, here is a link to the virtual tour, now hosted on our website. Please have a look and let me know what you think. Cheers! LF Tudor Court

  21. Thank MM - Will do. Big Mick - The last "show" was a murder mystery evening which are traditionally held in a restaurant or over a dinner. It's an evening of improvisation and audience participation. Indian By Nature are one of the sponsors of the Pattaya Players so it was agreed to hold the event there. I wasn't involved but understand it was a big success. Future shows will be held at the BPH as the first one was. Look forward to seeing you there. Cheers! LF
  22. Pattaya Players (home of Pattaya's Professional Amateurs) is currently posting open audition calls for actors interested in performing in their upcoming Halloween and Christmas Productions. The Christmas audition will take place at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10th at The Cavanaugh Community Center. If you are interested in the Halloween audition, please email pattayaplayers@gmail.com for further details. The Halloween event will be a Haunted Ghost Tour entitled, "Path Of Phantoms, Poltergeists and Pagans" and was written by local Pattaya resident, Christopher Parsons who will also direct the production. A meeting date will soon be announced for people interested in being tour guides and live-action ghosts. In addition to the tour, there will be a myriad of Halloween games for children, plus plenty of food and drink for all! More details regarding the event will be released in the coming weeks. The Christmas production will be a a British comedy entitled, "A Dickens' Christmas Carol" written by Mark Landon Smith. This traveling travesty in two tumultuous acts centers around The Styckes Upon Thump Repertory Company who embarks on their fifteenth annual tour of the Dickens classic. When the company's diva feigns illness, certain the production will be canceled, this merry troupe of over the hill and upstart actors carry on without her. Roles are shuffled and the sweet understudy suddenly finds herself on stage knowing only one line of dialogue. She has written her part in and on almost everything, including the Christmas pudding! Midway through the doomed performance, the diva rushes in to reclaim her role. Total mayhem ensues as the company scrambles to keep the show going while everything goes hilariously wrong! If you are interested in trying out for either of these productions or are interested in providing back-stage help or production support -- please plan on attending the christmas audition and/or email us regarding the Halloween production! The Pattaya Players still continue to seek corporate and private sponsors to help offset their current set-up costs. Please consider joining 2008 current sponsors: AA Insurance Brokers, Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, The Cavanaugh Community Center, Chevrolet, Indian By Nature, Laem Chabung, LCIT, Rabbit Resort, Horseshoe Point, Casa Pascal, The Sleep Factory, St. Andrews International School, Steps & Rhythm Dance Academy, The Pattaya City Expats Club, Spice Magazine and Pattaya Mail in helping the Pattaya Players to become the premier creative arts organization in Pattaya! In addition, personal memberships are also be available to any interested party. The cost of a single membership is 500 Baht for adults and 250 Baht for students. Included in the membership will be a bi-monthly e-newsletter future opportunities for "professional amateur training courses and seminars" and invitations to Pattaya Player's exclusive "Social Evenings." More information can be found at www.pattayaplayers.org.
  23. Average maintance fees are around 35 to 50 Baht Per m2 for new projects. Personally I would stay away from any VT project. The Urban is nice and I believe it is a foreign company behind it whereas The Pride is Thai management. I guess from what you have listed you want something in town, but if you are interested in something in Pratumnak Hill, then I have a project in Soi 2 that you might be interested in. It's cheaper than these as well. Cheers LF
