  1. The last taxi I got to the airport from Pattaya was from opposite Big C by the bars and they quoted 1000 baht including the tolls and wrote expressway included on the receipt. I thought as it is normally 800 baht plus the tolls, it comes close to 1000 so I took it. The driver went on the shit back roads and payed 40 baht in tolls plus he nearly killed us a few times as he was falling asleep at the wheel, God knows how many hours he had worked that day. Apart from that all the other times I have used the kiosks on the street I have had not problems.
  2. I think you only get a code if you open the airport for planes to land see how long it takes before it opens.
  3. I have flown with both airlines and would take Etihad over Qatar airlines any day of the week Qatar is not worth paying more money for plus the stop over in Doha is not that great.
  4. Yes, try and get a room with a window because the inward facing rooms have a window facing the hall way and you have to keep the curtains closed all the time. I found the Sabai Inn to be very loud in the night time, but apart from that it was fine, the room was big, had in room safe, and a huge bed which could sleep about 4 people, tea and coffee making facilities, staff were friendly, and you can go across to the Sabai lodge and use their pool and other facilites as it is owned by the same people. The location is very good plenty of beer bars very near and Big C shopping centre about a 5 mintu
  5. It rains more in Bangkok than in Pattaya, I was in Pattaya in September and it rained 1 day. In June it will be hot like always, Have fun
  6. The Sunshine vista is a good place to stay, it is close to everything that you need, bars, shops, laundry. Now it is high season I think you will have to pay more. I stayed there in September and it was about 900 for a room but had a look this time and the same room was about 1600. They are not apartments as such but you can get a studio room with a kitchen but that costs more again, Do not book thru their site as they charge more. No problems bringing ladies back and the staff are nice. The breakfast is ok nothing special. They have wi/fi on the 6th floor and the lobby but if you want they wil
  7. If you are from the UK you can stay 30 days, they will stamp your passport at Bangkok airport saying when you arrived and when you have to leave.
  8. I believe the law has changed and they are not allowed to show cigarettes, I went to a few supermarkets the last time I was there and all their cigges were not on show but they still sold them, although 7/11 still had them on show, so not sure how that works. Did not see any at the duty free shop on the way in to Thailand but they had loads on the way out.
  9. You are going to have to fly to Bangkok for starters and then get a taxi to Pattaya which is about 2 hours away depending on the traffic, taxi is about 1000-2000 baht one way.As for hotels you should check on the internet for details, a good site with good rates is www.sawadee.com I have used these and have had no problems. As for eating and entertainment you could spend as much or as little as you want, some on this site say they spend 7000 baht a day,but you could get by easy on 1000 baht a day. When you book a hotel check that it is girl friendly as some of the more expensive hotels
  10. My friend bought a bar of gold in Thailand for about £1000 and when he came back to the UK tried to sell it but could only get a bit less for it here. The price of gold is the same every where in the world the only way you will make any money is if the price goes up after you buy. He took it back to Thailand a few months later and the price went up and he made about £120 on it. He also bought a mans gold and diamond ring in Thailand for £260 and when he brought that to the UK he was offered £400 for it, so maybe better to by quality jewellery that gold bars.
  11. Well did you check out these places when you went looking? Tesco Lotus, Big C, and the last is Carrefour.
  12. Thanks to Rabster and biggles45 for your feedback and to the other members for their comments I will be staying their anyway because it is cheap for 1 month and as long as it has a bed I will be happy
  13. I would like any information about Shagwell Mansions, I know where it is, but would like reviews from people who have stayed here.only seems to be 1 in the reviews section on the site. Thank You.
  14. The football shirts for 150-200 baht are not proper copies, they tend not to have the makers brand name on. Have seen good copies in Mike,s shopping mall on beach road, pattaya, but they were 600 baht, although haggling will probably bring that down a bit.
  15. I have never heard of Elite on Eva, but they do have Evergreen Deluxe which just gives you extra leg room and a slightly better seat than economy, not sure if it is worth the extra money though.
  16. I stayed in the Sabai Inn earlier this year, the room was big and the bed was big also and not hard. I would advise you to get a room that faces out ward, because lots of the rooms face inward and have a window over looking the hall way, so you have to keep the curtains closed all the time and it is very dark. The staff in the hotel were very nice, but it was a very noisey place in the early hours of the morning when I was there. The hotel is in a good location, many bars near by and Big C shopping center and you are on the baht bus route. A better hotel is the Sabai Lodge which is almost oppo
