  1. Mmmmmmm and who would that be Doggie ;D ;D
  2. Hi Doggie At this moment I will be back for the second Rideher cup. And looking forward to it. :) My stats: Status = European (English) Handicap = 15 (and getting pissed before the competition). Oh is there a section for Thai Gecko's?? ??? George wants to start playing! Cheers Duece
  3. Not sure Saigon, I have never seen or played in Pattaya at night, I know there are a few courses in Bangkok that do night golf. The only club I have seen (or noticed) with flood lights is Siam Country club, they have lights set up on the last four holes, but i think maybe only for rounds finishing in late afternoon. Cheers duece
  4. Yea where is it! It was there then gone, while the European guys and gals were looking for their barfines paid for by the americans and Aussie ??? Hope to see it again in November. Duece
  5. Just thought of some others Law 21. No getting your tits out on the course, unless you are female. Law 22. No flirting with the caddies untill you have won the hole (Europeans only). Law23. (one for doggie) trousers have to be round the ankles while taking your second shot if you don't make the ladies tee with your first. Law24. Hitting a Thai driving a motorbike on the move is a two shot penalty. Law25. ex 5 handicappers can not play off 36.
  6. Golf Rules LAW 1: No matter how bad your last shot was, the worst is yet to come. This law does not expire on the 18th hole, since it has the supernatural tendency to extend over the course of a tournament, a summer and, eventually, a lifetime. LAW 2: Your best round of golf will be followed almost immediately by your worst round ever. The probability of the latter increases with the number of people you tell about the former. LAW 3: Brand new golf balls are water-magnetic. Though this cannot be proven in the lab, it is a known fact that the more expensive the golf ball, the greater its attraction to water. LAW 4: Golf balls never bounce off of trees back into play. If one does, the tree is breaking a law of the universe and should be cut down. LAW 5: No matter what causes a golfer to muff a shot, all his playing partners must solemnly chant "You looked up," or invoke the wrath of the universe. LAW 6: The higher a golfer's handicap, the more qualified he deems himself as an instuctor. LAW 7: Every par-three hole in the world has a secret desire to humiliate golfers. The shorter the hole, the greater its desire. LAW 8: Topping a 3-iron is the most painful torture known to man. LAW 9: Palm trees eat golf balls. LAW 10: Sand is alive. If it isn't, how do you explain the way it works against you? LAW 11: Golf carts always run out of juice at the farthest point from the clubhouse. LAW 12: A golfer hitting into your group will always be bigger than anyone in your group. Likewise, a group you accidentally hit into will consist of a football player, a professional wrestler, a convicted murderer and an IRS agent -- or some similar combination. LAW 13: All 3-woods are demon-possessed. LAW 14: Golf balls from the same "sleeve" tend to follow one another, particularly out of bounds or into the water (see Law three) LAW 15: A severe slice is a thing of awesome power and beauty. LAW 16: "Nice lag" can usually be translated to "lousy putt." Similarly, "tough break" can usually be translated "way to miss an easy one, sucker." LAW 17: The person you would most hate to lose to will always be the one who beats you. LAW 18: The last three holes of a round will automatically adjust your score to what it really should be. LAW 19: Golf should be given up at least twice per month. LAW 20: All vows taken on a golf course shall be valid only until the sunset of the same day. Maybe you guys can think of some others? Cheers duece (and George)
  7. Pete The notification of reply thingy seems to have disappeared. Have we lost this service or have I just gone blind, I can't find anymore. ??? Cheers duece
  8. Hi Loser Like the guys say above, it’s best to take your own equipment if you are going to play a lot of golf. If you only want to play once or twice and you think it is not worth taking your equipment. All the courses hire shoes and clubs (although not the best quality), if I remember right it was around 500Baht for clubs and 200Baht for shoes from most course shops. Last time I was there for three weeks, so hired a set of clubs from THAI_GER LINE GOLF (I took my own shoes). A golf shop on Soi Chaiyapoon (off Soi Buakhao ) they were not best clubs, but OK for fun, and at least I was playing with the same clubs each round. I hired for a month (If I remember right 2500Baht but I could be wrong), even though I was there for only three weeks as cheaper than a daily rent as I played more than six times. One thing is the golf is great and make sure you get a pretty caddie ;D and I am sure you will enjoy. I am not sure if there are better places to hire (maybe others could comment) but here is a map of how to get to THAI_GER LINE GOLF Cheers Duece
  9. Cheers Sprinter I will try out in 4 weeks time. Yea I don't talk much about sport at the moment :-[ even the rugby union team did not look to convincing against Wales yesterday :-/ but at least we were winners at a game at cricket against good oposition :) Well at least I have trip to LOS to look forward to ;D ;D Duece
  10. I wondered how long it would take for the aussies to shout about the football > > well have lost all interest in sport at the moment ::) all I can say is thank god for our rugby team ;D ;D ;D Have a good day Duece ;D ;D ;D
  11. Thanks guys Some really helpful replys. :) :) The reason I was thinking about shipping back to UK is that I am now taking my golf clubs with me to LOS and that puts me right on the weight limit with the airline already, I thought it would be cheaper to send than pay extra baggage charges. Again thanks for the replys most apppreciated. Yea catch you for a beer SF I arrive 23rd March if yiou are still about. Cheers Duece :)
  12. Me and my golfing buddies back home in England are having a Scottish golf tour in September. There are 12 of us going and we thought it would be a great idea to have polo shirts with logos for us to wear made for us. We looked at prices in UK and it was starting to get expensive. Me and my big mouth I told them I was on my way back to Thailand and I am sure the shirts would be cheap there. So my questions are: I know that shirts are cheap but does anyone know a place to get a logo embroided on them? If I was to ship 12 shirts back to UK how much roughly would this cost as cant see getting in suitcase? and in the end would it be worth the hassle and cheaper than doing in UK? I am returning to Pattaya in March and maybe a small trip in June so I will be in LOS two times before I go on golf trip. Any suggestions welcome Cheers Duece
  13. Good stuff! Looking forward to more informative reads in the future, Well done! Duece
  14. There is no need for a taxi from residence to Walking street get a Baht bus. I think people get confused about taxis and baht buses, Baht buses is the way most holiday makers travel, They are open pickup trucks with a roof and benches down both sides. They run regular routes (not set times) and there are hundreds in Pattya. They are very cheap! A Baht bus From residence gardens If you stand on the opposite side of the road to the residence gardens one will be along very soon, I think about three minutes would be my longest wait (no need to do anything as you will find that you will be pissed off at the end of holidays with Baht bus drivers peeping their hrns at you for your custom). When he stops just jump in the back with the other people he will take off peeping his horn at any walking falang. When you get to where you want dropped off just press one of the buttons provided, jump out hand the driver 5 baht (10 if long trip) which is about 15 pence UK. From residence to Marina sign (drop of for walking street) takes 2 or 3 minutes. Don't worry about time of day as run 24 hours a day. At night often they will ask if you want to hire for trip home from walking street usually 40-50 baht ok if you have TG with you. but its "up to you" wait for a traveling bus and jump on if you only want to pay 5 baht. It takes abit of getting used to but Ok after a couple of rides. hope this helps duece 8)
  15. Even as a englishman hews naetive tung is english. I wuld lov a spell chequer also. As my spellink is not to grate! Is it possibal Pete? cheers duece 8)
  16. I agree with steveman! The electronic safe in your room is great. There should be no need for you to leave money or anyhing of any worth lying around as temptation. Cheers Duece
  17. This trip I never took more than one girl back with me. The girls I did take back really liked the rooms and they were treated well by the staff. To get Baht bus from residence to walking street walk across the road, wait for bus (plenty travel the route) and get off 2 mins later at Marine Plaza, just walk through the soi and you are there on walking street. To get back use the same soi or Soi diamond to get on to Pratumnak Road, at the end of both will be baht taxis waiting if you want to pay 40-50 baht (ok if you have girl with you) or wait for a one traveling jump in and pay 10B. Cheers Duece
  18. Last post lost so sorry for repeat After reading reports about the Residence Gardens, I thought I better try it out for myself to see if the reports were true, so in April/May I made my way to Pattaya for a three week stay. Well I can tell you that the residence gardens defiantly lived up to all my expectations and I loved my stay there, so much so I thought I better tell the rest of you lot. A 2-3 minute baht bus ride (or 10min walk) to the centre of the action, but far enough away for quiet at night when you want, the guest policy is brilliant and girls are made more than welcome at the condos. The rooms where clean and spacious, the food was great, nice pool area, but best of all for me was the great staff, they were always helpful and worked with a smile on there faces and made me feel more than welcome. Also! A few board members were staying at the same time and that adds another dimension, at the time of my stay there were 6-8 other members residing all who I got on great with and had a few laughs and drinks with.(I also thank all them for there great company). In the end a very happy stay and I give 10/10 and will defiantly be booking again for my next trip. Duece
  19. Hi Okulyt Yea Pattaya is great place for first time and great to chase the ladies! try to hook up with some board members, get down to FLB on first night and introduce yourself. and plan for the best holiday you have ever had ;D Just go for it Duece

  22. Hi Doug For my sins I have been trying to learn for the last two or three years off and on, have bought all the books and cd roms and still find it difficult. :-[ The main trouble is I have yet to find a really good simple book or cd rom, some good bits in some and other good bits in others but not a general easy to learn way. If you e-mail me I have started to put some of the best bits together to make it easier to start, am willing to send you a bit of stuff to get you started if you want. What I have just found recently if you want to learn the Thai writing is the books the junior kids use in Thailand(a real good way of starting and understanding) :-/ Again it all depends on how much you are planning to learn only a few words or to speak fluent, also are you planning to read and write Thai. PSP has shown you the best web site that I have come across on the web and also his tip of actually talking to Thais is good advice, but for most of us thats just not practical (apart for 2 or 3 weeks a year). All the best And good luck (chock dee) ::) duece
