  1. Completely agreed. I loved watching Greg Maddux throw complete games with less than 90 pitches. He never had much heat, but his control and movment were superb.
  2. If you're not including splitters then you should at least include cutters.
  3. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/96385...ostingId=964764 I wanted to get the British reaction to this. I enjoyed watching Hatton fight and was amazed by how ardent his British fans were. I'm sure loads of them are devastated. First Calzaghe is caught with snow and now Hatton.
  4. Not at all. I didn't even talk about comparing screen tech. It's just a dumb infographic that misleads people that don't know any better.
  5. That's an absolutely idiotic infographic. Why would you compare a processor from 2003 to one in 2010 solely based on clock speed? That's just moronic. Is a 3GHz Pentium E5700 better than a 2.66GHz Core i7? Furthermore, why compare solid state storage to an optical disc? That's another misleading (and stupid) comparison.
  6. The LK hotels use soft beds. The cost is a little more than most hotels in town, but for some it's worth it.
  7. United's new business class is pretty excellent. It's totally flat and the entertainment center is very good. If you have the choice, opt for the new configuration instead of the old one. The old business class seats are a joke in comparison. The one reason I stick with United is for its system-wide upgrades. If you hit 1K status, you get six one-way upgrades a year. Flying in business makes the trip so much easier. I've also flown Cathay Pacific's business class. While it's not as new as the UAL business seats, they're very similar and the service is much better.
  8. The few you know aren't very smart. Only morons think that the iPad or the iPhone is a laptop "replacement". The iPad was never marketed as or intended to be a laptop replacement. This is a new product category that will be even bigger in a year. By the end of the year there will Android and Windows tablets. In 2011 there will be WebOS tablets.
  9. Your mistake is thinking of it as a laptop replacement. That's not what it is or supposed to be.
  10. Avast has been better than AVG for the last couple of years. Give it a shot.
  11. Sprint's road map for 2010 is pretty aggressive. It will have WiMax in most major American cities by the end of the year. So I'm not sure what you mean by "near future". Clear winner? Not at all. It depends what you need. If you want to mimick iPod/iTunes on Android then you can use Double Twist for your phone and desktop. Android also has several advantages, especially when it comes to Google integration. That said, iOS has several advantages too. It just depends on what you're looking for.
  12. Windows Mobile is awful. Nobody should choose that. I like and use both Android and iOS. Android is much better for me for work due to its tight integration with Gmail and Google Voice. It's a fantastic OS, but requires some tweaking to get the most out of it. iOS is a better choice for people that aren't tech savy. It's also better for entertainment thanks to iTunes and the App Store. It really depends on what you need.
  13. Please. If traveling to LOS is one of your primary concerns, you're much better of sticking with United and getting at least premier executive status. Reaching 1K ensures that you won't have to fly coach to LOS. AA doesn't have its on metal to LOS, which puts it at a major disadvantage when it comes to upgrades.
  14. Yes, that's the HTC Evo 4G -- currently the best Android phone on the market. The screen uses old tech, but is very large and increases the usability.
  15. Zero "needed" it. Like I said before, it's a content consumption device. Nobody needs to listen to music, watch movies/TV, and casually surf the web. It's just another entertainment device, albeit a very good one.
  16. It's not gimmicky at all. You're just thinking about it from the wrong perspective. The iPad is all about content consumption. From that standpoint, it's pretty excellent. A laptop is for consumption and creation; of course it will have advantages for content creation.
  17. You're travelling during peak season in America. Ticket prices from America are typically higher from May to September than the rest of the year. Prices have more to do with loads and inventory than the skirmishes in Bangkok. Thai Airways is the only direct flight from LAX. One probably reason prices went up is that more people are going to the connecting cities (Taipei for EVA, Tokyo for United, Hong Kong for Cathay Pacific, etc.).
  18. I assure you that I was not charged any joiner fees, though you should probably contact directly to confirm.
  19. Yes, it is guest friendly. One thing I forgot to mention is that a lot of Filipinos work at the hotel. I found this unusual. The level of English at the front desk was higher than most places.
  20. The western most rooms might have ocean views, but the hotel is closer to Second Road than it is Beach Road. Street noise isn't an issue. It's a pretty quiet soi and the hotel is next to Pattaya International Hospital (not a lot of noise coming out of it). As for neighbor noise, it seemed fine, but the hotel didn't seem too busy, so I can't say for sure.
  21. Normally, I don't like staying at hotels between Beach Road and Second Road, but due to a knee injury, it was a better choice. I went ahead and tried Hotel Vista on Soi 4. It's a newer hotel with no joiner fees and I was able to get a decent rate on Agoda ($37/night). The rooms have a modern and understated style, which some people will like and some won't. The location is great for people that are new to Pattaya. The rate included breakfast for two (which I never woke up early enough to try) and free WiFi. The wireless worked great from my laptop in the room, but I was unable to get strong en
  22. The Sheraton is a wonderful hotel with fantastic swimming pools. It's just up the hill from Walking Street.
