  1. I'd suggest a hat like this one: http://www.weplaysports.com/running/hats/ Coolmax is much better than cotton at wicking away sweat.
  2. I stayed there for a month. The facilities are fantastic and the location is very convenient. It's on the pricey side for Pattaya, but it's well worth it if you make use of the pool, gym, sauna, steam room, etc. The two LKs I've stayed at (Metropole and Royal Suites) had very soft beds, which is atypical for a Pattaya hotel.
  3. I'd suggest finding a new place. Like many others, I stayed at Lek Hotel on my first trip. The location is good for a first timer, but you can find better rooms for the price.
  4. If you're an elite member on United then it doesn't make much sense to fly other Star Alliance carriers to Asia. You miss out on the mileage bonuses and in many cases don't earn as many miles on routes that United services. 100K is a great goal if you can hit it -- this nets you six one-way upgrades on any UA flight, including internationl.
  5. You actually get three items. 1) The key to the room 2) A keycard for the door just before the elevator 3) The plastic strip for electricity
  6. I don't know if he has expertise, but your first two sentences sure give him examples to work with. Be Pround! Be toast!
  7. I go to Pattaya so that girls can molest me.
  8. The food from Shooter's is catered by Bob's BBQ, if I'm not mistaken. I'm biased, but I try to forget about LA whenever I can.
  9. Indeed. There is a major difference between TexMex, CalMex, and authentic Mexican food. Personally, I love the taquerias in San Diego and San Francisco.
  10. A lot of American flights arrive well past 11PM and depart before 7AM. That's a pretty compelling point for using a taxi.
  11. That's odd. I've stayed there four times and was never asked to pay in full.
  12. It's one of my favorite places to eat in Pattaya. The location is fantastic -- great place to recover between sessions if you're feeling ambitious. I'm a big fan of the beef and Guiness pie, as well as the cottage pie. I've heard the fish and chips are good too, but haven't tried them myself.
  13. Kevin Meacher (board member "cookie"), owner of Jasmine Mansion, has a few new stories up on his Riff-Raffles site. Here are a bunch of excerpts. ================================= Livid in Pattaya, Part I Go on, ask me. Ask me if I am angry. No, I am not angry. See…no problem at all. However, whilst not angry, I am fucking livid. I am off my head with lividity. I am drinking from the cup of lividness and I am altogether totally bloody lividacious. If some of these words do not exist in the dictionary then…well…bugger the dictionary! Because at this moment if you come within one mile o
  14. I pre-book to get a girl picked up in Bangkok, pick me up at the airport, and drive us to Pattaya. It's more convenient and costs the same as a meter taxi from Bangkok to the airport and another one from the airport to Pattaya.
  15. That's odd. I used Mr. Toom in August, December, and January -- the drive met us in the airport, as Mr. Toom's email said he would. Did you complain to Mr. Toom about this?
  16. You bought a Fuji XD card for that much? That's a fantastic price. You sure it wasn't SD?
  17. If that's all you're doing, you can do that in Windows or Mac OS. For a cheap photo editor, this is pretty excellent for the price. http://www.noromis.com/
  18. There are tons of choices in the Soi Buakhao area for your price range. Do you have any additional wants and wishes? That would help narrow it down.
  19. Prices going down?!? Ha! Are you familiar with Thai logic?
  20. San Mig Lite is easy to find at most bars. For hard-to-fit clothes, you can always get some stuff tailored. Bangkok is better for this though.
  21. I'll double that. Most long-stay places charge for electric and water -- I've never been to one that did not. I've stayed at places with higher rates and some with lower. The charges were very reasonable.
  22. The standard rooms have walk-in showers. They're good rooms, but a little small if you're staying for an extended period of time.
  23. From her photo on the LPGA site, she looks like a JSB employee.
  24. The subtitle of the member's section says, "General discussion on anything and everything to do with Pattaya." Anyway, it doesn't matter. This has been moved to its proper place.
  25. Too bad you don't understand what the Off Topic section is for.
