  3. Hi Curly, I too have stayed regularly at Sabai Lodge and am booked in for next month (see you there!) I have always been looked after by Care, wondered why I have dealt with someone else this time "KED" I love the Ruen Thai Bungalows with pool at your front door, great for our young daughter. They've always been OK with me. Not had a mail from Care yet, but I love the location of Sabai Lodge on the Baht Bus route and halfway between the beach and the Soi2 bars. (met my wife in Soi2 seven years ago - so have roots there!). Big C (and Classroom go-go) is handy too! Looks like Care is trying to steal customers to me, special rate to her contacts. Care was manager for all Sabai hotels (i.e. Resort, Lodge, Inn) Never had a problem with staff, always leave 20 BHT on pillow when leaving the room and get good/helpfull service.
  4. What's the latest? I'm in Thailand for Easter and have to fly down from Udon Thani to BKK to catch the plane back to UK. Just worried about the connection!
  5. I like Sabai Lodge too, stayed in a Deluxe room at Rhuan Thai pool, this is a modern high standard, ground floor room which opens out onto the beautiful pool with your own private sitting area. Great for my young daughter. Am going back there again soon as I am hooked on the pool outside your front door scenario. Did me a good deal last year, helpful staff, near the beach and on Baht Bus route. I am also a fan of the bars at the top of the road (Soi 2 and round the corner) although I am biased as that's where I met my wife !!
  6. I have stayed in Udon Thani several times over the last 6 years and usually stay at the Charoen Hotel. It may be habit, but It's reasonable standard, good pool, great restaurant open very late and the popular "Yellow Bird" nightclub attached to the rear is always worth a visit if you like loud and live music. Staff always helpful and price under 1,000 per night. I have stayed at Baan Chiang which was much higher standard, huge pool (but used by "outsiders" too) lovely room but I was not as comfortable or relaxed due to the more "upmarket atmosphere" and considerably more expensive than Charoen.
  7. The website is now up and running. Have been in contact with the hotel but prices are very high now as indicated in posts above. Tried to do a deal, but wouldn't budge below 3,500 including extra bed (extra bed = 600 [ down from 1,300] !!) for our 4 1/2 yrs. old daughter. As a "returning guest" they did come down (twice) but in the end it's just too expensive compared to the Sabai Lodge up the soi. It's the extra bed charge which annoyed me, pity as it's a nice hotel in a perfect location. Knock on effect maybe, Sabai Lodge not dealing me as low as last year.
  8. Thanks for that, I stayed at the Sabai Lodge up the road (opposite Sabai Inn and owned by same group) in April 2005, actually it was very nice and I got a good deal. However I love the position of "Beach View" and more handy for the One-Way and getting to the beach. The rooms used to be very spacious and as the hotel needed a refurb it was a great price. I used to love the 100 Baht Breakfast Buffet there in the mornings sitting looking out across the road at Pattaya Bay. Do you know what the situation is with the Breakfasts?
  9. Not common, but I've seen European women on Pattaya main Beach over the years topless and it isn't a problem. Thai women generally do not do it. As above, so long as you pay for you deckchair and a few drinks everybody is happy!
  10. Used to stay in Beach View, Thanks for your update. I looked at the work there in April 2005 and intend to stay again in April 2006. What is the state of the place at the moment? The Website is still under construction. I will be returning with my Thai Wife [who I met in Soi 2 (where she worked!) and later brought back to England and married in 2000] and our 4 year old daughter. Any chance you could mail me as to wether the Sandalay Resort is completed. Thanks
