Hi Steve Yes, my feeling is 2500 is a bit stingy, as I enjoy buying a drink or two for my woman. I'm starting to conclude that for a holiday, if you can't afford 4k a day, then one may as well stay in U.K. and do some overtime! Oh boy, am I gonna have some fun with 5k a day! My only fear is having to much alcohol and gettign ripped off my bar girl in hotel room, when I fall asleep. Guess, I will have to be very careful.

Thanks for advice guys and girls. Will be very useful. I'm in a bit of a dilema reagarding my daily Baht allowance. After hotel, airport pick up/return and clothing allowance my 'playing' money is either: 5000 a day for 4 weeks OR 2500 a day for 8 weeks. Obviously, 5000 a day is enough for a good time and Long Time Bar Girl, but I wonder how I might cope on 2500 a day. How many of you guys could have a good time on 2500 a day? I like a few beers and one woman most days. Do you think 2500 is enough?

Yes, Ben's the name. Drinking and shagging will be my game! I work from home, so more than one lanky guy in the world then!

Hi guys and girls. I'm considering traveling light and purchasing some clothes, on my second or third full day. Sort of quality I'm after is the British 'Next' type of thing or perhaps some of the better stuff in Marks and Spencer. So as a general rule of thumb, a nice shirt in the above stores might cost £25, a pair of shorts, £20 and a fashionable pair of trousers, £30. What would similar quality clothes cost in a good department store in Pattaya? Thanks in advance

Looking for resonably priced appartment
ben99 replied to sean28's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
For quite a decent hotel, wanting 1500 baht a day, in low season (1500 * 30 = 45000 baht) what is reasonable to offer as monthly rate? Would they accept 25000 baht, for one month? -
That's all well and good. However, how can you possibly place your passport and cards in a reception, safety deposit box, with the knowledge that a member of staff, a complete stranger, has a key! Makes me sweat thinking about it!

Any recent Info/Opinion of Roof Garden Inn?
ben99 replied to Grandpollo's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Looks like a good hotel and a BIG PLUS is the rooms have a digital safe, which for me is crucial. I don't trust the staff at reception. 1. Is breakfast included? 2. Does one choose your own code for the safes? 3. Is the hotel 'lady' friendly? Thanks -
Well the website clearly states rooms have 'safety deposit boxes'. so that puts me off straight away! Shame, as they were on my 'watch list'. http://www.r24.org/pattaya-escapades.com/p...aview/pictures/ The pictures do look nice though! Was the reality different?

Just confirmed with the company concerned, they don't require an advance booking deposit. They stated as it's low season, a copy of passport and evidence of flight is fine. So which is the lesser of two evils? Sending a booking deposit to a stranger? OR Sending a copy of passport and flight details to a stranger? What would you choose? Thanks

Hi Found a condo which I intend to book. The agent wants me to fax through a copy of my passport and evidence of plane tickets, in order to confirm booking. Is this normal and reasonable? Any dangers involved? Thanks

Hi Chivas 500k? Is that: £500000 or £5000 or £500 I can afford to deposit £500 but not much more! Only a poor English man, I am!

Hi Deadman What is Vitamin V- 12? Some kind of sexual stimulant??

Hi Steve Thats a kind offer. If I can take you up on that offer at the start of May, I'b be very grateful. That way, any tips you can give me, will actually stick in my brain, when I arrive at the end of May. Thanks

Yes, I've read there are over 3000 bars, most stuffed full of bar girls. I think I will be genuinely overwhelmed. I've not had a girlfriend for ages, so I think I will just go crazy with lust. I'll be there on my own as well, so don't have anyone else to consider.

Seems incredible that a woman will spend the whole night with you, for just 1000 baht! Still can't believe I'm going. I mean in U.K, an all night escort would cost £500+. I'm staying for 3 months and aim to screw 100 women!
-
Hi Deadman I'm flying out for the first time, at the end of May, so maybe I'll see you around Pattaya. Look out for a tall, lanky man, about 30 with glasses!

Yes, what address does a tourist give? What if your staying in standard hotel? Is that acceptable?

All good advice. I'm starting to venture along the lines of, taking my debit card/s, but using Travelers cheques, until they run out, then using my ATM cards if I need to. As regards travelers cheques: 1. If they are stolen, can they be cashed by the thief, as I thought one needed a passport to cash the cheques? 2. If they are stolen, how do I get replacement ones and how quickly can I get them?

What is the maximum amount of baht, a tourist should have deposted in basic Thai bank account? I reckon 50000 baht, just incase one loses everything! But is this to much??
-
Thanks, but what's the difference between a duplicate card and a new card? Surely the security issue remains either way? edit: Oh you mean they will issue a new debit card BUT the customer must pay the courier charges??
-
Thanks

Do NATIONWIDE send out replacement cards (current account or credit card) if one's card is lost, stolen or needs to be cancelled?? What type of delivery do they use?? Thanks
-
Thanks, did not realise that! Good idea concerning the basic Cashpoint card. So it can't be used to purchase goods in shops or order items over internet! Will the basic card still work in LOS ATM's, without the Visa function?
-
We all know how useful the Nationwide, Flexi Account Debit card, is in Thailand. I have three VALID NATIONWIDE, Flexi - current account debit cards. Simply open one up in your name - then a joint account with your Dad or relative. On the joint account - both of you will be issued with ADDITIONAL debit cards. Tell your relative why you are doing this and just deposit £1 to open the account. You now have two Nationwide Debit cards and THREE, if your relative trusts you with his card as well! Tip Number Two. Keep the BULK of your cash, in a Nationwide linked - e-savin

On my first day in Pattaya, I wish to open up a basic Thai bank account. I can then deposit say, 50000 baht, incase my English cards and travelers cheques get pinched. 1. Which banks will allow me to do this in Pattaya? 2. Is my Passport and 60 day tourist Visa sufficent? 3. Do they issue an ATM card on the spot? If not, how long is the wait and can I pick it up at the bank? Many thanks.
