  1. Baht weakened ever so slightly against the £, now 66.40. Let's keep our collective fingers and toes crossed. It's had a three month bull run, so hopefully it might have peaked and it's all set for a summer slide
  2. Well the trend appears to be against us now. 66.45 baht to the £. For my vacation in June, I'm now assuming 60 baht to the £ and anything better, will be a bonus. Will the bar girls and hotels, lower there charges? I doubt it! I don't want to buy the baht now, as I don't feel comfortable carrying large amounts of cash around. I'd be very happy with an average of 65 baht now. http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi
  3. Baht weakened to about 67.5 from 67.1, after the election result was clear. Hopefully it's a case of - buy the rumour, sell the fact! Hoping for a decline to 70.0 through April and then further slippage to 75.0, around my arrival date of 27th May Would not like it to go through 67.0, as it would signal a new trend.
  4. Just a thought - what are those rooms actually worth per day? I know the website gives a price of 400baht, which is too much? I agree - they look grim, but for say 150, I might be tempted to slum it! Then again, the bathrooms look dire. I think I'd be embarrased to bring back a lady and I'm no snob! Everything has a price, right? For 100baht a night, why not?
  5. My mummy says............ It's possible to get upgrades for free - say economy to business class - if the business class has not sold out. My mum is urging me to ask at check in. However, I don't want to appear a complete fool! Is this possible, in the right circumstances?
  6. Are there any hayfever problems in Pattaya, as I suffer from this as well. I agree, May, June in U.K. - can be a nightmare - double trouble! I'm surprised, you have no need for an inhaler in Pattaya? What about the humiduty and heat? Does it give you a heavy chest?
  7. Suitcase Many thanks - I learn something new everyday - I'll definately see my doctor about it - I've no real idea how I'll react to the humdity. Eneukman Yes- that's very true - we English tend to grumble about everything. I've just ordered a 4 month, pre payment certificate, for £33. As many perscriptions as I like!
  8. Thanks very much. I'm shocked that the costs are no cheaper than U.K. I'll make sure I've got a bagful of puffers - before leaving U.K.
  9. It surprises me that the price is about the same as the U.K. How do the Thai's afford the drugs? Say a policeman on 11k baht a year - how could he afford say 400 baht on one inhaler? Maybe there is a Thai price and a ferrang price?
  10. Get up at 9am - eat breakfast - go back to room - shag bar girl - go back to sleep - wake up at 2pm - shag bar girl - shit - shower - shop - shit - shower - eat dinner - go drinking - get drunk - select bar girl - shag bar girl in room - go to sleep - get up at 9am for breakfast - repeat
  11. Fried toads! That's just crazy man. No way
  12. Hi 1. SALBUTAMOL 100micrograms/inhaler (reliever) 200 dose. 2. BECLOMETASONE DIPROPIONATE 100micrograms/inhaler (preventative) 200 dose. In England, one is a brown inhaler and the other is blue. Any feedback really appreaciated.
  13. Thanks for replys. Any idea how much one inhaler is? Each perscription item in U.K. is £6.50 - going up another 30p soon
  14. Hi all. My asthma is well managed, but I do need my two inhalers. I plan to ask my Doctor for a triple perscription, just before I leave, so I should have enough. However, I will be in big trouble if I lose them or run out. Do Boots or any other pharmacy, sell asthma inhalers over the counter? OR will I need to see a Pattaya doctor first, in order to get a perscription? Thanks
  15. Thanks That's what I thought. So the **** could be identified then? My Nationwide banking, uses a 'down down menu'. Do the 'keystroke logger' prgrams work in this respect?
  16. Thanks - Yes I know the Natwest and Nationwide system, I use it myself and understand what you are saying. They ask for different details each time. So when one inputs alpha/numerics, like hf4h - these appear as **** on the screen. Can the keystoke logging program - record the hf4h - OR - does it register as ****. Thanks
  17. Bath Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
  18. That really sucks. You must be gutted. Over 7 days - the difference is equal to a soapy massage
  19. Nice thread - reminded me of a question - I need to ask. Are there ANY internet cafes in Pattaya - where one might take a chance and log on to Internet Banking - while in Pattaya? I know it's dangerous - due to key stroke logging programs. Can these programs detect a drop down menu and/or the traditional password entry -which appears like *******? Do any of you guys take a chance? Many thanks
  20. Yes- 7 days it is then! Can you remember how many digits - the in-room safe had? Obviously, one needs at least four. Thanks
  21. I think it may be wise to book for 7 days in the first instance - then if I like it, I can always extend - providing the room is available! Gym is a must for me - as I need my daily self-esteem boost! Any views on what 'double' means?
  22. Hi all. I enquired via - sawadee.com - for accomodation at Areca Lodge - deluxe, pool view, double - 1190baht a night. I asked for quote for 30 days, specifically requesting a discount for one month. I received a reply stating the room is available - but they cannot offer a discount and the price is - 35700baht 1. Is this unreasonable? If I called the hotel directly, would I have more luck? If I just booked three days to start with, intending to negoiate upon my arrival, can I be reasonably assured the room will be available for one month? 2. Does 'double' mean one lar
  23. Sounds good then. Stick to the proper shops! I'm planning on traveling REALLY light, just a standard ANTLER backpack/daypack, just big enough to stuff all my essentials in and a couple of shirts. Bag will be accepted as hand luggage on plane and I won't have to worry about anyone stuffing drugs into my main luggage, as I won't have any! I also have my Pacsafe waist wallet and Travel safe. http://www.pac-safe.com/product.aspx?pId=646 http://www.pac-safe.com/product.aspx?pId=647 http://www.pac-safe.com/product.aspx?pId=655 No one is going to rob me! Well I hope not.
  24. That's a good point. Really, no changing rooms? That's daft. I'm always taking things back to the shops. Wrong size etc.... and am quite fussy over fit. Do the department stores allow returns? If I bring clothes from home, how many shirts should I bring? 7? or more?
