  1. It's my favorite of the fine dining restaurants in Pattaya, and interesting that MM mentions the steak dianne, because thats what I often come back for. One thing though- why would you go there for Thai food? Plenty of cheapo places knock out just as decent Thai food.
  2. Not a specialist steakhouse as such, but the Angus steak I had at Mata Hari was the best I've had in Thailand, well tasty 7 texture just right. Their Steak Dianne is very good too. Bei Gerhard, a German restaurant in Naklua does a good steak too. In fact everything these two places do is good, so I've got lazy and tend to favor them for a good nosh when i'm in town.
  3. So after #2725 posts, who's stuffing it up worst? Just wait until the chinks come out with a plane. On time, half price, & powered by rice.
  4. Airbus still late, Boeing still late? Good, carry on then. I'll check in again next year.

  6. Well, they say charity begins at home. I'd say most of the TG's that give anything would be helping their own flood effected families or villages.
  7. I love goat cheese. I'm in Pattaya for a few days next week- I'll be sure too stock up. Hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg.
  8. ^ They were probably behind schedule too.
  9. Seems to be a good amount of banger with the mash, so if they're tasty sausages I'd rate that OK. The brekky is not my style. The steak sandwich with chips at the soi 8 bar is a bargain- 120 bht from memory, and pretty good.
  10. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys. You're not alone- many have got the swimming pool they 'want' (?) and ended up with an inferior product- for a cheap price. If you are thinking of a swimming pool, first of all think if you really want one. Electricity and maintenance are fairly expensive, and so ids the original price (if you get it done right). If you still do, pay the price and get the right product. There is no consumer protection here, farang. My Infiniti 12m by 5m swimming pool, with a proper jacuzzi, cost not far south of a million baht when all things were considered. That means decent pump, pumphouse & filtration system, a western (Swiss) owned company to do the work, price paid to get it right, and get the right support and maintenance. I had no real problems, but came to the conclusion that frankly it still wasn't really worth it- whats wrong with a decently maintained communal pool?
  11. I like Ubon, although it is hardly a falang oriented nightlife place. Theres still plenty to do. Around the Nevada grand hotel you have Cerise, a coyote place packed with stunners, many students during the day. There is also a large basement nightclub nearby- several falangs have got lucky there. Check out- http://www.weloveubon.com/ for more detailed info.
  12. City Lodge is well located, around 500 Bht. Nice pizza oven too, and their breakfast is said to be good. http://www.udonmap.com/thecitylodge/
  13. I thought their food was fine- not the cheapest you will find, but you can expect to pay a bit more for an aircon pub.
  14. End of bubble in sight for Boeing, Airbus NEW YORK, Jan 8 (Reuters) - The unprecedented three-year explosion in commercial plane orders is set to fizzle this year as $100 oil, hesitant passengers and cash-strapped airlines bring the industry back to earth. Plane makers and analysts are forecasting half as many orders this year as last, but they are calling it a return to normal rather than a market collapse. http://www.reuters.com/article/basicindust...847688320080110 Meanwhie, AB has bagged it's first big order for '08, for the good old A320 workhorse- "Airbus lifted by Irish order for A320s Airbus, the troubled European plane-maker, kicked off the new year by winning an order yesterday for 75 of its A320 family of single-aisle aircraft from Dublin-based leasing company AWAS. The order, worth $6.9bn (£3.5bn) at list prices but certain to be heavily discounted, could be extended to 100 planes as AWAS has taken options to buy a further 25. It is a substantial boost to Airbus, whose parent, EADS, has seen its shares slump in recent days on analysts' forecasts that the global aviation market in 2008 could be as little as half of last year, when demand was at an all-time high." http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/ja...ustry.transport Airbus has also sold three of it's A380's previously leased to Singapore Air to an asset finacing company. "The financings are a boost for Airbus, given these are A380s which are new aircraft assets with unknown residual values, while these particular aircraft are among the first ones off the line and could be trickier to remarket than later deliveries due to weight and wiring differences." http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2008/....6-million.html Not a bad start to AB's year.
