Just got a price flying on 20th July and returning 12th August, £514 including tax aswell, flying economy with Emirates from Manchester, as London is abit too far, I am from Sunderland and Newcastle ticket prices r around the £680 mark.

Is this a good price or can anone else beat it?

Cheers people :o

makavelli,

Your only real alternative from MAN is with Qatar as both Malaysian and Singapore are more expensive than the price you have quoted. However, Qatar does not have a return on 12 Aug, only 11 or 13th.

If those dates fit in it might be worth giving them a call (0161-435-6058) and letting them know the price you have been quoted with Emirates - I suspect that they would at least try to match it.

A couple of things to keep in mind with Emirates:

1. The morning departure from MAN (and the connecting flight DXB-BKK) is on a high-density (charter) configuration 777 i.e. they seat 10 across in a 3-4-3 set-up rather than the normal 3-3-3. The evening flight (and the connection from DXB) is operated with A330 aircraft in normal 2-4-2 configuration.

2. They routinely have headline fares which involve a long layover (6-10 hours) in DXB on the return leg. They can offer a shorter layover (2-3 hours) but will charge more for the privilege.

Other than that, the fare itself is quite good considering the time of year. Most, if not all, airlines will have increased their fares to shoulder season by the 20th July.

Regards,

Tom
