Most comfortable beds?

OK, I'm looking for a place to stay for my next trip, usually stay at the Pattaya Centre but last trip got hassled about joiner and am not going to stay there again.

 

Not sure where to stay though, tried the RG two trips back and lovely rooms + nice staff but beds were as hard as a rock! Didn't sleep at all well the whole time I was there, ended up going up to Bangkok two days early.

 

The Pattaya Centre beds were always OK, nothing great - is there anywhere in town with genuinely nice soft beds that is guest friendly? I mean, I'm not expecting the JW Marriott or the Westin quality here (unless Pattaya Marriott has suddenly started being guest friendly) but I don't mind paying a little more for more comfort.

 

So, two questions:

1) Where are the beds most comfortable that you've stayed in?

2) Sort of interested by some of the things I've read about Dynasty Inn (seem to recall someone mentioning the beds there even but can't find the post again) and Sandy Spring... any particular comments there?

2) Can anyone think of a good convenient place that's preferably not much over 1600 baht that's comfortable, guest friendly, and fairly nice? By convenient I mean along the main baht bus loop -- didn't like with the RG that coming back you had to deal with a second bus going south. I'm not to particular on location otherwise, I tend to alternate evenings between go-go girls and hitting soapies so anywhere on the main loop is fine.

That was me talking about the Dynasty. Their beds are the most comfortable for me that I have found yet. I'm staying there again next month for exactly that reason. Just hope the construction noise isn't too bad.

 

Some folks believe that hotel mattresses have a soft and a hard side, so if you flip it you will find what you want. I have never tried it myself.

 

The Dynasty fits all your criteria, but the construction may ruin that. If it's too bad, I will just relocate.

Thanks for confirming the point... as for the noise, it usually doesn't bother me (I've pretty much always lived in the middle of a large city), but it does depending on just how loud. Staying a night or two and then moving if the noise is too bad sounds like the way to go.

 

Thanks once again. I've never heard the "soft and hard" side thing, maybe if someone is at the RG now they can check?

Soft beds are to be found at the Sunshine soi 7 (old wing). Also the Carlton at the junction of soi 4 and 2nd Rd. Should meet your other criteria. Of the two,I prefer the Sunshine...

Last trip I was at both dynasty and sandy springs. Both had softer beds that RG. sandy springs seemed to be the nicer of the 2 (bedwise) but the difference wasn't that great. But I think snady springs is a nicer hotal overall.

 

And I agree. I like RG but the beds are just too hard for me to be comfortable. Everytime I stayed there it reminded me of when i had rotator cuff injuries.

Stick with the Sandy Spring. Comfortable beds (my missus loved them so thats a plus), large rooms, still looking pretty new etc

 

You might pay a few more baht/bucks/bob but well worth it.

Soi 13 noise has been much commented on.

 

I am there on Thursday, and will report whilst on my vacation. I guess if its noisy I will move but only after i have tried ear plugs and sleeping pills.

 

BTW- for sleeping pill read LBFM.

I stayed at the Sandy Spring for 3 weeks in September and have booked for a couple weeks in April as well.

 

The hotel is great, but with all due respect to Cowboy and Bazzap I think the beds there are pretty damn firm. Usually I can fall asleep pretty easily after a night of excitement, but waking up can be a bone acheing experience.

 

Still it is a great hotel and a great location, but the beds suck.

Agree with spike, istayed at Sandy Springs back in Oct 2004 and had to move to Eastiny Place soi8 after a couple of days becuase the bed was so hard. Or maybe it was the excitement of been back in Pattaya Was thinking of trying out Dynasty or AA hotel next time but may well stick to Eastiny because at least i know i can get some sleep at that hotel.
