Yorkshire, many of the bars have their own teams and play in a league.

Ask your favorite bar. If you're half decent I'm sure you'll find a spot.

Tim's Beer Bar on Second Road is apparently home to the serious player and reportedly has good tables at the back.

Congratulations on your first post Russel. :D

You will find Ting Tong's sense of humour a little confusing if you have only just arrived (he's like that with everyone! :D ) The point he's making in his post is that if you type in capitals, it is considered shouting and possibly impolite. Clearly your post was giving informmation that you felt relevant (which is of course the point of the board) and most people would let the fact you have typed in capitals pass them by, but Ting Tong likes to make points, in a sarcastic sort of way! :nod Blesss! ch)

I have just noticed you are American,(American Flag?) so perhaps you always shout! :D

Any way, thanks for the info. I haven't been to The Blind Beggar for quite some time, but I chat too, and e-mail Beef on a regular basis. I ought to point out that The Blind Beggar (previously known as the Winchester Club) is in Jomtien not Pattaya, and the soi doesn't have a number, just a confusing name! Anyway, just head down Jomtien beach road and its the first Soi on the left after the Numbered Sois finish, Its a good mile from the start of beach road, and any motorbike Taxi in the area knows where it is. B)

It certainly does have a good Pooltable and probably some sort of a league as The blind Beggar is a mainly ex-pat hang out.

Beef wouldn't thank me for this but you might also try the Jade Club on the hill. I cannot remember if they have a pool table, but the place has other attractions (just like the Blind Beggar) which are of more interest to me. I imagine most motorbikes and probably most baht busses know where it is. Its a couple of Sois up from the residence garden hotel, go left, down the hill and you will see the big gates. walk in and enjoy!

I will be in both the Winchester and the Jade on the 16th myself.

all the best!

this time next week I will be in LOS!!

I just remembered something about Pool tables in Pattaya. <grin

Many years ago I made the mistake of staying at the pox ridden Penthouse Hotel on Soi Pattaya Funland.

They had a pool table in the bar that had dents all over the serface so when you hit your ball it didn't go in a straight line! :banghead

ROTFLAMO!

Amazingly, people used to play it all the time anyway and the cheeky bar manager  (now residing in a jail in Thailand on drug offences) and the frightening mamasan, would actually charge you for its use!

I wonder if its still there? i would never venture into the shithole that is cats agogo myself, perhaps someone else knows?

All the best

Pattayahappy ch)

Note:Cats is now called Kittens I think?? they got caught out a few times by Pattaya plod!!

yorkshire, there is a very nice pool hall that opened not too long ago. I believe the name is Mega 8. It is east off of 2nd Road just past a group of beer bars on the right (I think down Soi Diana, but maybe someone else knows for sure?). I think it's around 120 baht per hour; they charge by the table and not per person, so if you share the table with a friend you can split the 120 cost. They had a big tournament on a Saturday with a buy-in for the players. I don't know if it's a weekly thing or not. They have girls there who will rack your balls (no, no, no! Not like that!) and who will also play pool with you if you want a playing partner. Nice jazz music was playing not too loudly when I was there several times in Dec. Comfortable sofas to sit on, about 12 to 15 tables; all-in-all very nice. They were doing a lot of advertising on T.V. back then as they just opened.

Leadbelly you are right about the new pool joint being down Soi Dianna, haven't been there but may check it out next trip. I belive they run a weekly knock out comp, but would pay to check out the rules before playing. Have played many a times in Pattaya at different bars where the rules seem to change each day.

No drama, I enjoy pool for the fun of it, I used to play comp pool but got sick of it as there was no fun involved any more and IMO it was taken too seriously.

Cheers,

Kev

If you are looking for a place to play pool - Try going to "Top's on the 2nd/fl. They have recently expanded their space and is now even bigger.

What is nice is that you have the food store on the main floor and the bowling alley on the 3rd floor - If that is not enough - Just cross the street and walk down to Soi-7 Soi-8 for more fun .
