Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

OK, gentlemen, I must not have been paying attention because I apparently missed the announcement that explains why r/t airfares will be about 20-25% above what I'm used to. I just looked at LAX-BKK flights leaving mid-June and returning the first weekend in July, and couldn't find anything under US$1,000. :banghead My trips last year (January, September and November) were all in the 750-800 range. I didn't think that June would be high season, or am I once again woefully ignorant of the ways of the world? :D

"This is the time that I cash in my air miles. "

Ditto.

My loyalty to United will be soon ended with their price increases across the board out of MSP. $1200-1400 are the best tickets I can find on a single major roudtrip MSP to BKK.

I'll be going back to Eva in August out of LAX because it seems to be the lowest I can find (at $800) and settle for a no-name shuttle to the coast.

I'm trying to look on the bright side. At least if I shuttle to the coast I can catch a late night flight and arrive before noon in Thailand.

Steve,

Have you checked UA prices with a travel agent. Many times I've gotten a better deal with my travel agent than the UA prices on their website. Also when you factor in the FF program when your Premier Executive its like pay for two and get the 3rd free. Also I like their economy plus seats and since I've made Premier Executive I've been able to get the exit row on my flights. One last thing, they have some nice promotions during the year. My last trip and the upcoming one they had the double miles promotion going which works out to triple for me. Those 2 trips will be worth a little over 102K miles plus 6k miles next year when I don't use the upgrades, sweet.

Emil,

Thanks for the tip. I'll check with an agent in the area.

The one real definite dislike I have with UA is their arrival and departure times; 2300 and 0700 respectively. If I shuttle to the coast I can arrive in the a.m and depart late afternoon of the last day. It's like having an extra day and a half in-country to me. Can't rationalize more than 30 days at a time right now to myself or the help  so I have the intrinsic feeling that I'm getting more bang for my buck.

I was PE last year and that's how I got that Bus Class freebie for May, hehehehee but there are lots of things to consider.

Take care,

Sa-teef

Have always flown NWA out of Twin Cities. Prices have jumped though and everything I was looking at was over $1300 through September. Than I had the brilliant idea of using my NWA miles and got a flight leaving Sept 4 for 60,000 frequent flyer miles. Free trip :D
