Hi

Thinking of using U - Tapao airport rather than Bangkok on my forthcoming trip to get to Koh Samui.

Wondered how far this is away from Pattaya and what the cost of a taxi should be to this airport.

How long is it necessary to check in before an internal flight at U - Tapao.

Many thanks

Pat

It took me about 35 mins to get to the airport @ 500 Baht, they want you to check in at least 1 hour before departure. It's not a big airport, only has a small gift shop and 1 place to eat.

You are "bused" to the aircraft, as there are no jetways. I think the only place that is served from there is Koh Samui {Bangkok Airways}. The aircraft was nice and clean for the short 1 hour flight.

I used the airport at Utapao from Pattaya, it took around 45 minutes leaving Pattaya at 9:30 AM. The flights I believe are to Samui and mine to Phuket. Yes, you are trammed to the airplane. Very pleasant flight and I would use the airport again my next trip to Samui over taking the Bangkok route. Less hassles in my opinion.

I flew from Phuket to Utapao in March. Good flight with Bangkok Airways. You can get bus in to Pattaya at a cost of 150baht. Driver actually dropped me outsied hotel. Roof Garden. Impressive.
