Marriott Pattaya 1000bht joiner fee???

Recommended Posts

just enquired about staying at the marriott pattaya in two weeks time with res24.org and they emailed me to say that they have a whopping 1000bht per guest per night joiner fee. I was under the impression that the marriott was the only "luxury" hotel in pty which is guest friendly with no joiner fee. could anyone shed any light on this as they can fuck off if they think theyre charging that much!!! if it`s guest friendly then I`m booking it.

thanks in advance guys.

Send an e-mail to the hotel, ask their direct internet rates and ask if there's a joiner fee. Sometimes the joiner fee only applies if you book through a travel agent.

Sounds like they are trying to discourage "guests" I would give the place a pass and move on to friendlier pastures.

I can tell you that I just stayed at the Pattaya Marriott April 2 onwards of my trip and there wasn't any joiner fee charged to me or my room.

I did not book through a travel agent, rather booked through Marriott's website itself and got a better deal.

I cannot say that Marriott Pattaya does charge a joiner fee, as I was never charged one during my recent stay.

I can also verify that J.W. Marriott at Sukhumvit does not charge a joiner fee either.

Besty you have a pm also.

If there is any doubt in your mind, as to a joiner fee, then don't stay at the place.

RG is 1,350 baht and never is a problem, it may not be in the same class as the Pattaya Marriott , but at least you have the peace of mind that it's guest friendly.

Marriott had always claimed that there is a joiners fee. (in over 3 years anyway) my mate always stays there, he goes in through the beach rd entrance and never gets asked as he tips the security guard. B)

I stayed there in November and booked thru an internet site (not theirs) and was not charged a joiner fee. I may have booked a double, I do not remember.

I am not saying this about the Marriott but with some hotels EVEN if you book a double they hit you with a joiner fee, I know from personal experience at the Montien.

It doesn't cost anything to send an e-mail to the hotel you fancy staying at asking them their guest policy.

If the reply is affirmative print and keep for when you arrive at hotel, just in case.

I did this with Peninsula in Bangkok, however they were good as gold and I had no need to show the e-mail.

This only applies to the quality hotels with a dubious guest policy, no problems with Sandy Spring, Apex etc etc etc

FWIW most quality hotels on Sukhumvit Road Bangkok have a great guest policy.

Also, there are times the "joiner fee" is simply a scam by the night security and/or the night desk staff. Happened to me some years ago when I stayed at the Ambassador Hotel in BKK. No, I didn't pay it. And yes, I moved out after the scam was attempted two nights in a row.

Joiner fee's are simply a rip-off. Luxury "family" hotels put them in place to discourage people from using their facilities for anything other than family vacations.

I come to Pattaya to have fun and would NEVER stay at a hotel that wants to charge me extra to bring someone home!

For the people here that do travel with their family, they can simply use the short time hotel option.

IMHO, if you pay these fee's you simply contribute to the scam.

From my experience, the Marriot, the Amari, and the Royal Cliff, all had the same policy when i stayed.

Package tourists who had booked with the agent in the UK, all got collared for the joiner fee.

Myself, i had walked up the desk and asked them outright and was told that if you book a double room, no joiner fee will be applied.

Probably cost as much in the long run, but it does save the hassle.

I stayed there a few weeks ago and had no problem bringing in any girls any time, at any entrance!!

Just wondering, did you book through the hotel, or through an online booking agent?
