Taxes in Thailand.

Recommended Posts

Somewhere in 2006 I want to settle my self in Thailand. Amongst others this means that annually a tax-form needs to be completed. Can someone recommend me a reliable (authorised) bureau / fiscal advisor which could provide me assistance ?

What country are you currently domicoled fro tax purposes?

If from the USA, which state (it does make a difference, especially if you reside in California)

Does your country have a tax treaty with Thailand?

You may be able to file in your home country and not pay Thai taxes.

I want to comply with Thai tax laws and regulations. It is not my idea to pay tax but I assume that there is (also in Thailand) some form of a duty to inform the tax office on your annual income. Am I correct ? Do you have any experiences ?

The rate of tax is 30% plus and the best adviser is the second in comand of the tax office who is able to negotiate your tax but if you are just coming on a visitors visa you are not allowed to work !! same with a retirement visa. So what I am saying be sure you have the right visa in the first place. Presumably you will be getting a work visa which if that is the case the immigration office will include all details with you application about where and how to pay tax.
