Haven't stayed there myself but comments on another board are that it isn't guest friendly. Joiner fee is 500 baht.

Try 600 baht guest fee!!!!!!

Very nice hotel, great location, reasonable room rates, clean, modern, great customer service.

Never, ever, will I stay there again!

I stay there and it's a really good hotel, arab area is not far, of course you have to,pay a charge for GF, about 500 baht, but the price of the hotel, about 1400 baht is really cheap. The bathroom is with separate bath and shower, the pool offr great view of sukhumvit.

Royal Benja.

Nice hotel. Good location. Full of arabs. If you don't like 'em don't stay there. Near arab area but not in it.

When I stayed there 12 months ago no joiner fee as no joiners allowed full stop. Past a Yank having a furious argument with the night security one night.

My Thai travel agent ex girlfriend who knew the manager booked it at the Thai price of 600 baht a night inc breakfast...

Near Bus Stop pub recommended. Near beer bar complex under the flyover not recommended. Near skytrain stop. Loads of freelancer congregate on the main road.

Hello,

I've stayed at the Benja several times, most recently this past November.

And was thinking of staying there again this January.

The hotel is quite okay..big rooms..nice pool..decent breakfast.

Some rooms are a little run down...but not too bad

Although that walk to the end of the soi is rather long after a good night out.

I am now wondering about the drastic changes you've mentioned.

I did read a month ago that an arab investor had bought about an 8% share in the hotel.

There had always been few if any arabs staying there that I ever noticed.

Are the guests mostly arab now or are you refering to soi5 itself?

Normally I could care less... but remembering the looks I got when I stuck my head into the Grace for a quick look see.....wouldn't want that while staying at the Benja

In the past the hotel has always pushed hard for the asian market with lots of chinese and vietnamese tour groups, along with some asian christian seminars there.

In fact I have noticed the staff to be less farang friendly in general over the last 2 -3 years.

Although they have never been thrilled about guests, in fact their attitude can be nasty, that could be forgot for a fee of 500bt when I was last there.

The spats with guests that I've seen have been over their abrupt insistance that the fee be paid up front and not billed to the room and the in your face way of

communicating it.

Are they really not alllowing guests now? (panic)
