Hi There

Another newbie question.!!!!

 

Everyone says change your stirling in los not in the uk.But no one and said what the rate is at the moment if i was changing my currency today.

 

Also where is the best place in Pattaya to change my stirling into baht.

 

Also what is the beach at Nakula like?

 

Also can anyone please recommend the best way of getting from Pattaya to koh samet....well to Bah Phe

At the moment in Thailand I'ts nearly 73 Baht.

 

In the UK 66 Baht.

I don't change any before going. On arrival at the airport i use my Switch/Maestro bank card at the ATM. There are several at the aiport, but if exceptionally they were all out of order, i'd just get the taxi driver to stop at one. Though usually i use the train & only need 10bht.

 

Then i just draw from ATM's as i need it. This means i'm never carrying risky amounts of cash, just draw as i require it, usually 10,000, any time, day or night. If a TG is with you, most are very polite & will stop a few paces short as you approach the ATM.

 

This gives a good & variable exchange rate. i.e. if it improves whilst i'm there, i benefit.

 

It does however cost about GBP 2.00 per transaction, but i consider it worth it for the convenience.

The best way to draw sterling in Thailand is via Nationwide flexaccount, Atms everywhere no withdrawal fee and as good a mid market rate as you are going to get , plus security as above, so if you don't have a Nationwide Flex account get one!

I've been using the Nationwide Flex card for about 3 years now.It is also useful to transfer money to and from their E-savings account, which pays 4.75 per cent gross.

I reckon that those of us who push the Nationwide flex account here are due a (small) fee from them for all the free advertising they've been getting.

 

I've had my account for 5 years now and must thank Bank of Scotland for outsourcing me as without that I would not have gone looking for a new home for my savings.

Exactly what i do mate!

 

I think this is the best way to do it.

 

Sometimes i will draw out 15000b and the charge for that is about £2.50

To all of you that say "what happens if you lose your card" i say this,

 

"I have never lost a bank card in my life and touch wood im NOT ever going to"

 

Its just SO convenient and like john says its worth the £2.00 or so each time

Can endorse the Flex Accont atm card! have used ours all over the world and never had a handling fee !

It dont cost a penny to open and the e-savings option is good, plus you can make your payments using the online banking site.

I also have a NW Flex account, but purposely didn't mention it here because i truly believe that if too many peeps jump on the band wagon, it will only be a matter of time before they too start charging.
