Need Cheap accommodations in Phuket

Recommended Posts

Phuket is very expensive in Nov. I did a search and found most places in Phuket almost double and some even triple their prices starting Nov 1st--high season. I will be visiting for 1st time in LOS and need friendly info on any cheap accommodations in Phuket . Travelling thru out Thailand so on a budget to save as much as possible for "some fun".

Many have already helped me sort out cheaper places in Pattaya and like the same help here for Phuket.

Requirements are simple: clean decent and guest friendly places with private bathrooms close to the "action area", Guest houses are fine, but no dorms or shared baths etc.

e-mail and website contacts for advance booking appreciated, but if not available, since I never been to Phuket, let me know address and how to locate place upon arrival.

Once again , great forum and great info. Thanks

Hi

Phuket was a rip-off till tsunami, prices have gone down since. Think if you show up about 1/3 of adveristed prices.

I was planning to book on line after checking many booking agency (ex. asia rooms.com etc) but all hotels in ideal locations for me were fairly expensive starting Nov 1st--as stated earlier. I am fine with just showing up and finding a place (remember though -new to LOS), I will need recommendations on which places to check upon arrival. If U have a particular hotels you can think of in the 400-500b range (1/3 of 1000-1200b) for me to try(walk in price), please let me know. Also please suggest alternatives in case original recommendations are full (it is the high season).

Thanks all.

I don't know what their November rates would be, but you might try the Expat or the C&N Hotel in Patong. Also the Orchid Residence. There used to be a small place called the Smile Inn, but I'm not sure if they survived the Tsunami.

Hi

Try this one http://www.phuket-toyresidence.com/toy_beach_residence.htm

From Nov 15 it goes from 550 to 1480 but I got quoted 750 when I walked in last Feb. I had a place booked so didn't need it but I'm sure I'd have got it for less. The room I was shown wasn't great but if you dont like the room ask to see another. It's just around the corner from Bangla Road where all the action is. I was staying away from the action and it cost 100 baht for a tuk-tuk.

Is this place guest friendly?

Hi,

I assume you are looking for a place in Patong ...

1. Try www.latestays.com for some late deals on hotels.

2. Try a search on the www.phuket-info.com message board.

3. Watch out for the taxi mafia from the airport - they give an extremely hard sell on hotels. If you want to take a metered cab then you have to walk out the airport (200m) for one. Try a search about this on phuket-info.

4. For location and room type I personally like room 210 at the Safari Beach Hotel but don't know how much they are charging in "£high season". Send them a mail.

Good luck and enjoy yourself - Phuket/Patong is a great destination.

Cheers.
