Eva getting more expensive

Recommended Posts

Currently in Chiang Mai guys, sorry no postings for the past 3 weeks but I'm sure you'll understand why :bj1

Flew out with EVA Premium Laurel, very good but entertainment system kept freezing and no sky map, full report to follow.

I fly back on the 8th again PL, cheers Tom :D

One thing I have not noticed posted about EVA, one of their aircraft departed Anchorage from the taxiway :D :P

It was an MD11 freighter, oddly enough 2 years ago a China airlines did SAME SAME, must be a tad confusing at that airport.

Just a final observation about EVA, the flight deck never seem to communicate with the Pax much, and the seat belt signs are left on virtually all the time.

Now I have cooled down, back out into the heat :bj2

Today, I booked EVA - LAX/BKK for $1,070 in Evergreen Delux Class. Seemed like a good fare to me. My flight from middle of USA to LAX is $322, so for around $1,400 I get to BKK and return. That's only about $100 more than if I had flown economy on American or United. The difference being I am in Evergreen versus the cattle car.

Thai air flights from heathrow in Jan now have £101 airport tax and charges.

Its fucking scandelous.

Went to Madrid 2 weeks back cost of return flight £29.99 plus £ 41.50 in airport tax

Just booked Eva out of San Francisco for Songkran. A decent fair at $675.00 but that airport tax will kill you, an additional $163.00.

Thinking of flying Eva London- Bangkok on 777 Economy. First time on this route and 12hr flight is long for me. Whats best to sit in Window or aisle seat in the 3-3-3 configeration. Not a big guy (5ft8) but want some advice. Thanks.

Sure you don't have this mixed up or mixed in with the "fuel surcharge"? I've never paid anywhere near that amount in "airport tax."

Depends on you....I would say aisle as that is my preference, mainly due to the ease of getting up to go to the bog or stretch your legs. Nothing much to see out of the window overnight But if you are the type to fall off to sleep easily for 10 hours then tucked up by the window with nobody trying to climb over you works too. It can be nice to watch Thailand drift below you in eager anticipation in the morning.

There was a sky map when I used Premium Laurel in September so I guess that must have been faulty as well, unless you didn't find it. As I remember, you had to go through a menu or two before it could be accessed.

Flight attendants struggled with my skymap on the return trip, they reset it a couple of times, but as soon as I watched something else I couldn't get back to the skymap.

Flying back over Europe it worked but she had put it on Chinese or whatever, when I chenged it over to English, Kaput

I am not sure how often they are going to change the movies etc I flew LHR-BKK 10th Nov BKK-LHR 8th Dec, movies Same Same and not different :D
