Lots of good fares available if you book sharpish.

Thai/Eva available at westeast for under 400, think you have to fly by the end of the month though!

Also singapore 380ish + taxes for travel jan/feb

Eithad for 386 early next year and also Emirates for 440 all in for the first few months of next year.

Someone posted gulf air was available for under 300 squid, but did not say what agen/datet or which airport etc, this i find difficult to believe.

I took Gulf Air onwway a couple of years ago as a cheap option but never again.

I would only consider an indirect flight if it was like 1 or 2 hours plus 10 or 10 hours plus 1 etc. such as BKK-FRT-LHR/LCY etc.

I would agree but if someone is looking for a cheap option it will get you there.

I seem to recall the arrival time in BKK is early, easy to get through immigration and into Pattaya in plenty time for a night out.

But beware, small space and a tiresome flight in economy!

The last time I booked Gulf Air, a few years ago, for Christmas and New Year. The overbooked, so closed 'check in' early and refused to let anyone else on.

Fully booked until the New Year! Everyone was rebooked on flights for the next year, apart from me.

After a short converation with my PA, the airline manager carried my luggage to the First Class 'check in' desk of Canada Airlines and put me on a direct flight with Thai Airways.

I warned him that he'd rather deal with me than my PA, but he didn't listen.

They get it in the end.

Etihad from Gatwick has got to be the best, generally available, VFM deal at the moment for flights next year. Brand new aircraft on that and the Bangkok routes and state of the art individual entertainment. Available all over the place for around 380-440 quid incl. Only downside in no FF club.

Sorry to appear ignorant.......or actually be so, but is "PA" personal assistant and how would he or she have such influence??

Obviously this could be subject to change again before the date, but as at the moment the Etihad ex LGW a.m. flight on 11 Jan 06 (& probably dates around there) the aircraft on the LGW-Abu Dhabi leg has been replaced by a hired in ex charter old shed.

This is due to a delay in arrival of new aircraft on order & apparently connected with the Boeing strike earlier this year.
