Recommended Posts

does anyone know of any hotels that offer high-speed internet? i prefer it not be wifi but hardline, high-speed internet. i appreciate any feedback.

The Eastiny Residence Hotel on Soi 10 has it on the 7th floor. Should be about 1,000 Baut/night. New, pretty nice.

WhiteHouse Condotel, Soi 13, has wireless Internet for, I think, 100B/day.

I thought that Whitehouse was wired not wireless, but I could be wrong. I'm staying there in Feb, and I would certainly prefer wireless.

M room - 503 I think - was wired Hi-Speed. About 150b per day. Never had any problems over the 6 days I was there.

Pinewood Residences. 2nd Rd and approx Soi 5.

Good info guys, but are they all girl friendly establishments?

Whitehouse Condotel is guest friendly, but with wired internet. I was thinking of brining my Vonage router with me if I stay there again.

While on the subject of high speed wireless internet service. Are there places that I could use my laptop to link into the internet outside of my hotel like say a Starbucks or something like that?

It's just an option I wanted to check in on. I'm not really sure I'll be doing this or not. I'll be staying at the Sunshine hotel this trip coming up in about a month from now.

thanks,

The Starbucks on Beach Road and Soi 13/something had wireless. Sorry I don't remember the exact cross street.

Hi Sunny! :clap2 Guess I'll have to come on by and try out you wireless internet when I get into Pattaya at the end of Feb. Just thought it'd be fun replying to my e-mail while eyeing the girls at the sometime and sending photos to my buddies at home. E-mail (or post on here) information you think might be useful to me on my return trip to Pattaya.

The Starbucks at Soi 13/1 (across from Hopf House) has wireless Internet available through KSC--a Thai ISP--but it's NOT free.

You'll need to get a prepaid card--Try the Internet Shop in Royal, 2nd floor.

My Vonage router did not operate correctly all of the time last November. I think the problem is most hotels share a DSL connection, and when somebody downloads a large file, there is not enough bandwidth to support it and it drops calls.

I am now living in Jomtien Beach, awaiting installation of my DSL and I'll know if it works on a dedicated line.

Sunny,

What sort of speeds are you seeing with your wireless ? I was on the phone with another member who was as a Cafe that had wireless but the speed he was getting was less than Dialup. it was Free yes but that speed is Painful.

Soi 7, we have a 1024/512 ADSL line. Part of the bandwith is "reserved" for some torrents I hatch upstairs. But usually the speed is good, definitely enough for surfing. I do not encourage our users to make large downloads, though ......

And once in a while it sucks big time. This is Thailand, after all......

I stayed at a place where I just fell in love with. It's a small guest house located in the Jomtien Complex, called "Haus Mewie". It's a german guy who runs it. It's not luxury but the two-bedroom-apartments are nice and the location is just perfect and - what's the most important - every apartment has it's own desktop computer with high-speed ADSL internet connection (1025/512). I am not sure if I got always that speed, but it was very fast. I could also connect my laptop, too, and I never found the connection was down. Very reliable. They charged me 650.-- Baht per night and internet was even included. This is their email: mewiemov@csloxinfo.com. I really can recommend it.
