I know China Airlines is pretty crappy, but I have no problem with them. And I love the flight times and short layovers LAX-BKK. It's usually an easy choice for me, because they are the cheapest. However Eva is slightly cheaper now, and so I'm trying to decide.

The one thing I don't like about Eva is that I will arrive in BKK at 2am instead of 1AM with China. Another concern about Eva is that I'm sure the flights will be completely full with this new special. On the other hand, China may not be as full as usual because of Eva's special.

And does anybody know about the planes? The last couple flights China has the newer planes with everyone's own video screen. What about Eva?

Is Eva that much better than China for me to change?

Any advice?

I flew last week EVA HNL -BKK.

Great flight and plane - 777

TPE BKK a 747

Connection a couple of hours, and it arrived at noon, rather than midnight the other carriers scheduled.

I will fly them again.

I take it you're referring to flying in economy. If that's the case, take CI. As far the the aircraft being full, most LAX-TPE legs are full on all the airlines. CI is almost done with their B744 conversions, so if it comes down to 744 vs. 744, stick with CI. One other note, if you fly mostly CI and are in their FF program, stick with that, too.

I wouldn't base my choice of airline on a 1-hour difference in arrival time.

So you get to BKK centre at 3am instead of 2am.

AFAIK you can get your chain pulled at that hour.

After a long flight I want three things:

Hot shower

A good blast

Sleep between clean sheets

I used both from the States and I never had any problems. They both use B747-400 and have beautiful flight attendants, unlike fat, ugly American flight attendants with attitude from UA, AA or NWA.
